So i have just been going through some of the comments and i can see that some people are doubting that there are actually agencies who pay care assistants £16 per hour. i just uploaded some pay rates on my community tab so you can see for yourself. Mind you, there are agencies that even pay more than £16 per hour for care assistants. You just have to be willing to compare rates with other agencies around you before signing up and pick your shifts wisely. While it is possible to work and earn a lot of money in the UK, pls also know that it is not easy as well. if you watch some videos from my dependants playlist you will realise this fact. check out these ones below to get an insight into what life abroad is. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn_SeJ93maiKjLM kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHXLq4yXpMSNgrs kzbin.info/www/bejne/mniXq31ohZqSnrs

Agencies aren't all that, sometimes you can stay at home if there no shifts. Also, agency staff have no sick leaves plus pay, holidays, etc.. Permanent staff is better for me, i have my feet firmly somewhere with a shift code, AL, and lots other benefits. Thanks for sharing but to each their own.

Care work is supposed to be your landing pad. There is only so much you will make taking as many shifts as possible. It should be a transit role for you, out as soon as you can to greater heights. Good video and advice if you are still in it.

These are helpful tips no doubt. However, things are not as rossy as she is painting them here. To start with, there are not as many opportunities to pick and choose the time of day, day of week, Bank holiday or not as she is presenting it here in the video. Besides, there are thousands of other nationals: Indians, Filipinos, Jamaicans etc, who are out there looking for similar jobs. So, look before you jump, is my advice to those who will like to take advantage of this.

Most agencies do not give such rates,so ask about the rates. Plus I used to work as a Support Worker and even as Health care at night. Nights are not easy as she says. You are struggling against sleeping at night, you have to mop floors, do washing and ironing and check the residents and do personal cares. It’s no easy. Also if you do one to one, that person may suddenly get up at night so you have to carefully put them back to bed. They may need the toilet, pad change a drink or something to eat. They may even hit you or be confused behaviour you have to deal with. Please do healthcare work if you care about people it takes a lot out of you! It’s not all about money! It’s now very difficult to get Support and Care work.
@ScholasticaUgboka
@ScholasticaUgboka 10 ай бұрын
Those rates are very common in my area, if it's lesser than that people won't sign up with the agency. there are agencies that even pay more than £16 per hour for care assistants in Northern ireland. maybe it's just where you live that the pay is poor. And about the work load, both day and night is stressful but it is more stressful during the day. you may think Night is stressful for you because your body did not adapt to working at night. i dread day shifts cause i always go home very stressed up and too many activities happen in the day. You have to serve and feed Breakfast, lunch and dinner and don't forget the tea trolleys, you also have to deal with washes, showers, baths, endless toileting rounds, relatives and other MDTs going and coming. see ehn it's all based on personal preference. Day shift is stressful for me. Nights are quieter and 1:1 shifts doesn't have to be all dramatic like you described here. some of them sleep all night and may just wake up once or twice to wander. You are right about the work taking a lot out of you that is why you should be strategic and see the money you are working for. The same UK that people are Killing themselves with work is the same that someone is having easy shifts and making money. Just because one person found it hard doesn't make it the norm for others

why do you think they died because of night shift? do you know if they had other underlying health conditions? it's like saying some people had a road traffic accident and died therefore no body should travel by road again. Excessive night shifts without allowing the body to rest is bad. there are people that have been doing nights for years and retired as night workers and they are perfectly fine. The most important thing is to find a balance and stay as fit and healthy as possible. Eat well, drink enough water, rest well and you will be fine
@ikennaasiegbu8441

This is the problem with people, if you no get power to hustle, keep mute and allow those who have the drive to hustle. People who died must have some underlying health conditions they didn’t manage properly. Stop making assumptions here. Can you produce the autopsy report of those that does doing night shifts? So we can confirm if it’s states they died due to night shift.

Since becoming a care assistant I have avoided places that makes it mandatory for you to work night shifts because I'm still trying to recover my normal circadian rhythm, now I don't run out of herbal supplements to improve my sleep. Only the healthy can pursue wealth. I also understand that stress is the number one killer among women especially id you have a family. Dear mothers, your families need you alive and well please.

Guys, pls make your research very well and get a balanced view of things before making decisions especially for those who are planning to sell everything and relocate! Many were promised jobs in UK but have fallen into the hands of scammers and are now roaming the streets and sleeping in buses. Some even allegedly paid agents almost £10000 for care jobs only to find out those jobs don’t exist when they get to the Uk ! All that glitters is not gold, don’t let people make a victim out of you because of desperation! Do your research well and get balanced opinions ,not just what you want to hear…a word is enough for the wise!

A lot of luck is needed too because stupid amounts of people are signing up to do this now and shifts are fewer and further between, not enough to go round and live this dream. However, you have got the freedom to have time off too when you want it. The other problem with agency work is no sick pay, no credit available for car finance or mortgage. The tips are helpful but just to say that people make the mistake of thinking that agency work pays more than permanent work but that is not really true. Agency/temp work pays more per hour because the annual leave and public holiday and sometimes even pension pay is bundled up in the pay. Unfortunately when people don't take this into consideration, they work themselves to death and never take the holidays they are paid to take. When I work temp jobs (teaching though), I set aside a percentage of my monthly pay to serve as my holiday pay and take my holidays in peace. People look after yourselves. There is more to abroad life than working and chasing money.
@ScholasticaUgboka
@ScholasticaUgboka 11 ай бұрын
But my agencies pays for my annual leave as public holiday pay, they also enrol their staffs in a pension scheme which you can opt out from and i also got maternity pay from my agency when i was on maternity leave. the pay was even more than what my permanent job was paying me during maternity leave
@menvicstudio
@menvicstudio 11 ай бұрын
@@ScholasticaUgboka Sounds great! If as an agency worker you can get full maternity pay, sick leave pay, employer pension contributions, public holiday and anual leave pay, then that is incredible! But if not, it just means one need to consider these to know the true amount one is getting when engaged in agency work. There is also the down side of career progression which is quite difficult to attain doing only temp and agency jobs.

Do tell all future carers of the side effects and the risks of working long hours without resting. Most of them have lost their lives due to over working and being over tretched.
@ScholasticaUgboka
@ScholasticaUgboka 11 ай бұрын
one of the benefits of working with agencies is that you don't necessarily have to work long hours or pick shifts every day. The rates are higher so you get paid more for doing less work and if you pick your shifts wisely you can easily get high pay out working 3 shifts a week which is not the same as working a permanent job. is that not the whole point of the video?

my agency sorts out the tax and just pays me the rest. As a nurse working a normal shift. after tax, pension and holiday pay deductions my take home is around £260 per shift. now imagine i'm working 4 nights a week that is 260x4 = £1040 per week. for one month i will take home £4160 and that is after all deductions. my permanent job doesn't pay me this much.

This is relative though. In some areas in same UK, the care work is already saturated with people and agencies no longer get much shifts like before. In other words, most people work as a permanent staff so as to have a steady income to plan on so as to avoid story that touch. There is no way on God's earth that a ordinary care assistant can become a millionaire doing care work and let me warn people out there that nothing is for nothing they will make you work to the bone for your money. I am a live in carer and it's very very hard work. Yes you can earn quite good money but it comes a big price and not to mention these people are not grateful and be abusive so you have to be mentally and physically strong. It's not easy but if you willing to struggle for a while it's ok.

You get taxed per shift. What you are taxed is based on your earnings. Even if you register with 100 agencies and you dont pick shifts with them, you wont be taxed much but if you have only 2 employers and you are earning a lot then your tax goes up too. You can download the HMRC app and set your own estimated income per year for each job that way you are not over taxed as well.

CHECK IF YOUR AGENCY ALLOWS self employed ...i.e if they can pay you with a limited liability company account,,, then you can work all days and only pay Tax at the end of the year....this is the best but it was abolished in 2021... These things you listed here can only happen if you register with just one agency. register with at least 3 agencies and you will never run out of options for shifts. many people are just waiting to get ILR so they can resign from permanent jobs and do full time agency and you cannot say there is no way to make 3K as a HCA when you are only comparing the agency pay rates in your area. it was after this video i realised that agencies in England don't have good rates. come to NI and see agencies paying care assistants £18 per hour

How do you call living in an environment where the system works well slavery? you have good amenities, affordable healthcare, free education, longer lifespan and a better future for your children here. This is what we are all chasing. A good standard of life. If my beloved country had all these things i listed or even half of what this country has to offer me and my family, i would gladly pack my bags and go back home but unfortunately the system is rigged with corruption and those that were elected into offices to protect the interests of the people are busy looting and stealing from the people. If you enjoy that way of living then good for you. i wish you the best but don't look down on people who are courageous enough to leave their comfort zone for an unfamiliar territory
