Guys, America is emasculating our society. Facts…we are soft. I grew up in a time where kids were hard. Military training was easy to me psychology because my Dad and upbringing was harder. Today, these kids are soft because that is what the society wants and because of this mindset, we have lawlessness everywhere. Great episode and we need more of this if we want our military to be what it was when we all served. There is no SOF when we “bitch slap” all the hard dudes interested in SOF lifestyles for being hard as nails. But sadly, that’s where we are. I can’t see myself serving in today’s Army. My wife even tells me I couldn’t have served in today’s military. When I served it was Savages all over the place and we all could relate to what was asked of us. We need more of you guys selling the opportunity because the Army saved my life and I’m forever grateful. I’m sure there still some Savages that need to hear this message. Please stay the course. We need it as a nation. Go Army!!!!

Thank you for talking about this. I’ve said for years the Army has done a horrible job of marketing themselves. They have no idea how to reach hard charging 18 year old dudes. These kids want to see and experience the combat arms side of the house. I would love to head up army marketing and recruiting.

A few things that may discourage young people from enlisting is toxic leadership, u discussed on this show and what these kids have seen with their own eyes the way returning vets are treated. Not only that, but the results of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan where in my opinion, politicians got more of our guys killed because of R.O.E. Than than enemies. What’s ur perspective on that?

I personally think they need to look at their MEPs system. I’ve heard so many people complain that MEPs is just out to just disqualify people who want to serve for minor medical things without even trying to help them with getting a waiver or anything just “ nope disqualifying because you have a minor skin condition”

Best recruiting ad I ever saw was in the 90’s when it was just showing a swamp and then a team of seals emerge from it….didn’t get more bad ass than that. Now it’s recruiting commercials are cartoons preaching equity and diversity. Ain’t no diversity in the military!!! We’re all GREEN !!!

Giving somebody exposure to a gun won’t convince them to join the Army. A lot kids especially ones in the inner city have very easy access to guns and know how and where to go to get them.

I got out June 2020. I was in 1-505 PIR at Bragg. There was a transmission in my company that the military was paying for this dudes transition. I never saw him do PT, I rarely ever saw him in our COB. Tax payer money to destroy our military

Always been those types. Clerks who need binos to to do an eyechart, Plt SGts who pass PT tests with a wink, Permanent Profiles, etc. The only difference is the trans issue gives guys an easy way to say I'm not reupping, or to never raise their hand in the first place.

The issue is that there is a large civil military divide. I agree with several points. The gen pop is too soft for military service. In addition, obesity is rampant. The pool to recruit is the smallest it’s ever been. Kinda tired of the woke word being thrown around though. It’s a tired conservative talking point that has little to do with the recruiting problem. -Current Army Officer

Yeah its bad marketing. But, Infantrymen, Marines, SOF, still have to be hard. The adds just need to make it clear that Barbie, and flaming gays won't be doing what those guys do. And, yeah, younger people nowadays need motivation for better health. Just getting more folks to meet physical standards could help recruiting. The ARMY's even started a pre-Basic, Fat Camp.

Yeah weed's wide spread. And, some US Mil guys look at other Nations beards with envy. The beards won't fly with marines. As to time off, unless you're In Country (A War Zone), you'll get about 2 months off a year. Up to 30 days as a block, and another 30+ in Fed holidays and Unit Level 'holidays'. Say a weekend holiday + another day for travel.

Those other, vital jobs, have always been a part of the military. AND, the people who do them, have never been, and are not now, trained for the shit kicking. I’m a Black American and Army Vet and agree wholeheartedly with Jake on the BLM bs. BLM hasn’t done a thing for black people since its existence. Every hood in every major city in America still looks the same and is even worse than when I was there growing up.
