Woodstock, yes, but not the one near you. This concert is in Poland, the Polish Woodstock festival in 2012, Over HALF A MILLION people. Before Hannes and Tommy joined. Robban Back on drums, and Thobbe Englund on guitar , along with Joakim, Par, and Chris. Tommy recently announced he is leaving the band, and Thobbe will be returning. If you're wondering about the 'iced in' man they mentioned near the end of the history episode, Simo Hayha. He was a Finnish sniper, his story is covered in their song "White Death". Other songs from this Poland show recommended to watch, "Ghost Division" and "40:1". And the must watch live performance : "En Livstid I Krig" from the Great Tour in Gothenburg.

Thank you! I appreciate the info, my friend! I had no idea there was a Woodstock festival outside of the US! Cool! That makes sense considering all the flags in the crowd and the fact the place wasn't on fire and surrounded by carnage and chaos. I can't wait to get to White Death! So fascinating! Yes, En Livstid I Krig is next! 🤘❤️🤘

I'm glad that you have seen also the part about the history behind the song. I was born in Warsaw, in the district called Praga. It's where the Soviets were waiting for the collapse of the uprising, they were killing everybody who was trying to escape to reach them across the river. After the war in that place on the right bank of the Vistula they made a self celebratory monument with four soldiers of the red army standing and looking down. It was meant as a commemoration of the presence of the Russian soldiers on the outskirts of the city. But since they have not helped the uprising... all of us in Warsaw, especially we from Praga, have always called it the monument to the four asleep (meaning the four soldiers of the red army that seemed to be asleep and not see what was happening across the river). The monument has recently been removed because everyone hated it, It was another sign of what we had to endure during that time. We had children fighting and they didn't do a single move to help. They wanted to enter the city as a victorious military force to be able to negotiate later at Yalta to take Poland under the communist regime and keep us as a satellite State on their side of the iron curtain. It was well planned, well organized, but so many people died because of this political game of the Soviets. They left us be murdered, or murdered us theirselves as well, just to be "our saviors" later. The city has been destroyed, with bombs and fire, there was almost nothing left. But we are still here. Being Polish is a state of mind. Poland will never give up until there is a Pole on this earth. We rock! P.S. The thing that may be curious is that at the time people even get married, in such a situation they thought about getting married with the beloved person... before It's too late. They still wanted love and be loved. And many young poets died like Kamil Baczynski, many songs and poems have been written during those 63 days, It's incredible. We usually sing the songs composed by the patriots during that time at the annual concert "Niezakazane piosenki" held on august the first to commemorate what endured those people. Smart, creative, artists that composed some masterpieces (songs and poetry) between one battle and another and they are all very powerful, full of desire for freedom and sorrow, energy and consciousness that the help will never come.

This concert is in Poland @ the Polish woodstock hence why the crowd is so hyped up and the crowd is a larger amount of people then the ones that died in the uprising itself at least that we know of. Be sure to turn on cc subtitles as this version of the song is in swedish but its the most powerful

I just saw Warsaw posted, so I started to write that I didn't think it was in the U.S., then I saw the comment by @chriso6719 and, ah! Right...2012 Polish Woodstock festival. That's not what I was going to write about, though. When I saw "Warsaw," it reminded me that my heritage is from there. My dad's parents were both born and raised in Warsaw. Their last name IN Warsaw was spelled something like "Minnishki." We've never been able to find out exactly how it was spelled, and in English, it ended up as just plain "Minish." Both the Polish and the English versions mean, "little," and who knows where THAT came from, way back in our family's Polish history. I have relatives in both Canada and the U.S. who live here because of the huge family coming here and being filtered through Ellis Island, shortly before it closed down. My dad was the baby of the Minish family. His father died a few years after they migrated here. He had two older brothers. One of them died in WW1. His mom remarried, and had another six children (I think...I can never remember exactly how many kids there were in all, because the census figures don't agree, and nobody in the family who is still living, seems to know, either...there are different figures told by everyone). Then, when he was barely 18 (and we actually think he might not have EVEN been 18) Daddy left to go fight in WW2--with the very first troops, who would ultimately follow General George Patton everywhere. He was the only one in the family to go overseas. After Patton was remanded and wasn't allowed to go back to his troops, near the end of that war, most of his fellows in uniform came directly home. Daddy, though, was part of the troops who stayed in Italy for what he called, "The Occupation." That (interestingly enough) was at the same time that Dan Vasc's uncle went to Italy, with the troop from Brazil that was finally allowed to go. They were called "the smoking snakes"...Cobras Fumantes. So a lot of the things about war times that I've heard from and seen enacted by Sabaton, are quite familiar to me, since my dad described a LOT of similar things to us as my siblings and I grew up. They are things we will never, ever forget, and we live our lives accordingly. This (and my trust in and love for our Lord Jesus Christ) is why I can truthfully and forcefully say, "I am a warrior." I learned a LONG time ago, to NEVER give up, to hold the line, stand strong, make the difference, have faith, be the winner, etc., etc., etc. We were taught all that in LOVE and COMPASSION, by the way...NEVER by force of any type. We were simply told the TRUTH, and then expected to live it. I am very, very, very glad to have had the parents (and grandparents) that I had. I've done my best to teach my own children the same way. There are a couple of them who haven't grasped things quite the same way, and yet, in the long run, I'm seeing them, with the way things have been turning in this day and time, all over the world, realizing that their own parents were correct...not the junk that was thrown at them in some of the schools they attended after we left Alaska (sigh). Anyway...thank you very much for this reaction, Bill. I love Sabaton, and I'm glad you did the research, too. HUGS!
@BemusingBill10 ай бұрын
I think it's interesting that your dad and Dan's uncle served in Italy because my grandfather (father's father) was there too. I was killed in 1970 when my sister was born he was going out to celebrate with friends when his Volkswagen microbus was side struck. After his death, love letters were found. Apparently, he had a family in Italy. I know nothing at all about them but I know he loved that woman! My grandmother passed when I was a toddler but I know she was not a very nice person and treated my mother horribly but that's another story. I know from my fathers side, we lost many family members in the camps so this song and the story behind it hits me hard. Sabaton is a blessing.❤️

Bemusing Bill ,@ GrandmasGotGraceLW - You have beautiful family roots. Never forget about them. Poland has a difficult but beautiful history. It is a country of brave heroes, ardent patriots, warriors, people of honor. Best regards ❤️🇵🇱+ your grandfathers and fathers were also heroes - when Poland lost its independence and disappeared from the maps of the world, many Polish patriots emigrated abroad, they joined the army there to continue fighting for the Polish cause with those who supported us in foreign armies or Polish corps created in the West. they took away their freedom and with their heroism deserved the Allies' help for enslaved Poland. Your ancestors were probably among them. After World War II, some Poles emigrated again to escape death or long-term imprisonment, because this time the Soviets introduced communism to us. I hope you are proud of your roots, because you are!
