I found my favorite guitar style recently. With you showing how versatile your Tele style guitars are, it inspired me to give one a try. It's not a brand that you have, but it is an inexpensive model with lots of potential. Two weeks ago I bought a Donner DJC-1000S in the USA for $130. It's a heavyish Telecaster Thinline with two humbuckers. It included a gig bag, two tools for the neck and saddles, a cable, and a strap. Two days after it arrived I saw it for sale for $105.99, including shipping, with the same extras on a different site. No discount code necessary. I have concluded that an HH Tele style guitar is the ultimate solid body guitar. The Canadian maple neck and fingerboard are bright. The humbuckers give warmth. The big plate on the body for the bridge saddles makes a great connection to enhance resonance. The Donner does need a fret leveling and some of the nut slots need to be deeper. The tuners aren't the best. Some of them have too much play as they are twisted back and forth. I own the tools to make this inexpensive guitar play great. The pickups sound good enough for me and the potentiometers work well without any crackling. The pickup selector is firm. Just like the Fazley, this Donner is a wonderful starting point for greatness. The tuners are the only things I'll change. The name on the headstock doesn't matter. It's the amount of fun one has that matters.

Totally agree ... I recently bought a secondhand Fazley butterscotch Tele clone and it's hard to fault it in any department.

I bought exactly the same guitar after watching the original video and put the same Tonerider pickups. I still can't believe how good this guitar is for what it has cost me in total. I totally agree that it without doubt the best bang for your buck currently on the market!

It really is a great sounding guitar John, at least it is in your capable hands 🤠 Cracking bass line on this mix by the way brother !

I've got the Outlaw Sheriff Plus HH (Strat copy) with similar specs and a the T-style Tempest withe P90 in the bridge. The specs for the necks alone are outstanding for the price. I've done pickups swaps on them both, the Tempest having a particularly weak bridge pickup, but other than that these instruments are amazing value. Good to look out for the Plus versions and the ones that are discounted, rather than going for the non-Plus versions which have much cheaper specs.

Once you showed this off I thought about picking one up but to get one to the states is cost prohibitive. Unfortunate because I love the look of that neck.

Hi Phil it is I (also Phil) and yeah mine cost me about the price of a Squier altogether to get it shipped to Canada but I'd been looking for a Tele of this sort of colour for years. The neck is a bit more chunky than a Squire too.

Thanks for sharing! The original sounds are absolutely workable, but yes, the post-modification sounds ARE that bit nicer to my ears, but that's only because they're being A-B'ed. If someone said that the sounds came from a MIM Fender, I wouldn't have really doubted him. I went a slightly different route in terms of my minimal budget take, by getting a Jackson JS for my "superstrat" fix. Can't beat the super stable graphite rod reinforced neck with compound radius! YES, PLEASE!!!

I gave mine exotic wood fazley tele to my girlfriends brother as he wants to teach himself to play. I like maple necks so I treated myself to a £108 harley benton tele. Fazley is great value and I did enjoy it... good feel good sound.

I have the same guitar they don't officially sell to Canada but I was looking for a Tele for yea! Mine is 100% original, it sounds very good, looks and plays great and stay in tunes for weeks. Thanks to you and Jonny on Budget Guitar Show is how I found it on Bax Music site!

I like your remarks about gig bags and the prices of more expensive guitars. I've been looking at the player II Telecaster, and it's roughly £685, but it doesn't come with a gig bag.
@batphink26553 ай бұрын
FYI I have this very same guitar and love it but the gig bag is cheap and like John said good to keep the rain or dust off but it's not a fancy or padded one.

As you know John, I bought the same and made similar mods (Vanson locking tuners and Fender noiseless tele set). Only criticism remaining is that the frets are a bit weedy. Could do with super Jumbos.

I would love to buy one of these, but they don't do this model as a leftie (only the very basic guitars are avaliable 😕)

You started out with a good guitar and made it better to suit you. The good ones are hard to put down once you start noodling around with them.

If you can get one of these, you really should. Cheap as chips new, and I imagine the used market is even more of a bargain!

My experience with Fazely is not great. Bought an LP gold top with P90’s and those pickups squeeled like crazy, sounded like the end of the world. In fact it was so bad not even highend noice gates would remedy this. Sent that guitar back and asked them to QC the new one they was going to send. Unfortunately the new one was just as bad but i stopped my complaints as they also gave me a nice hardcase, a trap, tuner and some other stuff. After asking Bax music i found out that the pickups wheren’t wax potted, might just have been low quality components aswell. A shame because the guitar looked nice and felt nice yo play. Didn’t expect a high quality instrument but at least a functional one. Also the reviews of this guitar here on youtube did not highligt the pickup issue wich got me wondering if they where paid to say good things about Fazely.

I still think your best "T" style review John was showcasing Fender, Tokai, G&L, Sire and ? (don't remember the 5th one)

I don't think that was me, mate. Sounds like a Guitaristas video. I've never had a Tokai or Sire T style 👍

For those of us in the states, any recommendations for a guitar equivalent to this Fazley?
@JRobsonGuitar3 ай бұрын
Not sure... Maybe AIO, Firefly, Slick or IYV? We don't get any of those brands over here but I've heard nothing but good things about any of them & they seem similarly priced 👍

Demoing a guitar with drive or distortion is pointless as it is difficult to hear any difference between various instruments. played clean is the only way to hear what a guitar is like
@JRobsonGuitar3 ай бұрын
I disagree. How well a guitar handles elevated levels of drive is an important consideration. Does it become microphonic when the gain is turned up, for example? Also, saying the "it is difficult to hear any difference between various instruments" with anything other than a clean sound is plainly not the case. A Les Paul sounds very different from a Stratocaster with either clean or dirty sounds, or do you not think so? Finally, I use a formulaic style of demo piece in all of these videos. Usually around 2 minutes long with different sections showcasing high gain, edge-of-breakup, AND CLEAN sounds. Do pay attention at the back.
