Bought a 2018 VULCAN S a little over a month ago as my first bike. I’m 6’3 @ a fluffy 285 lbs. I absolutely love it. Your video amongst others was one of the large deciding factors in picking it out. It handles very well, is extremely forgiving for a new rider, and has a ton of pep to it for someone after they become comfortable with the basics and want more power. Last Saturday I talked my best bud into picking up a 2019 VULCAN S as well. He gets it in two days. Get ridden like crazy on the weekends (rain/shine) and then parked back on the street. Total sum of maintenance I still had due by the time I traded it in: Sprockets, chain, rust on the undercarriage, flaking paint, unbalanced carbs, electrical problems (most of them in the brake lights/indicators, I managed to resolve the starter issue when I found out where water was coming in), fork seals, and brakes needed replaced (drums/ discs). These are great bikes, IMO. Especially if you have a hard time finding a good fit, as these are adjustable for a tailor fit. But if you are on a budget compare the specs to the first generation Kawasaki Vulcan 750. You might be surprised as to how close they are, practically same same. So for $1,500 to $2,500 You could be in the game on a bike that arguably sounds better, and that counts on a cruiser. I'm a huge fan of the VN 750 as they handle incredibly well and I live near Skyline Drive and lots of twisty mountain roads. I went through a lot of cruisers before settling on the VN 750 as best all around middleweight cruiser. But if you have good credit and can afford the payments, and you want a warranty, and modern technology then I agree with Sean the Vulcan S in the video is a great choice.

This is what I wanted as my first bike. Quick, torquey, comfortable, ABS, great looking, what’s not to like. Then after passing my test (a long complicated and expensive process here in UK) got to thinking... did I really put myself through all that, on a 600cc bike, just to ride a 650? Some say you should buy a bike within your limits, I disagree. If you RIDE well within your limits, most bikes are manageable and you can grow into them. It all depends how much you trust your own self control. So I bought the Suzuki M109R, intimidating at first but not that difficult when you get used to the size and weight, and it now feels like part of me. I don’t regret it but something about that Vulcan S is still calling me!!

For a new budget cruiser the Vulcan is is a solid bike. But if you want one of the fastest budget bikes of all time you gotta go back to the Vulcan 750. I got an 1986 750 for only $1,000 it's 750cc water cooled V Twin has more power and torque. Even for its age it was an incredible engine with twin over head cams, 4 valves per cylinder and twin spark plugs per cylinder. And it has a 10.5:1 compression ratio. Honda V65 like . I rode a 450 nighthawk for a few years. A now passed friend let me take a spin on his built Dyna. I was honestly not impressed with it. A Suzuki 1700 v twin ( interceptor? ) Savage was the single pumper 650 . I own one of them currently actually. Still I don’t believe I have rode anything as spirited as that 1700 . It was quick and the tach went way hi for a 2 cylinder. It was a fine match of looks sound and would flat out fly! BTW the NightHawk 450 I learned to ride on pavement with was no slouch. 450 cc at 9,000 rpm and a 6th gear was probably to much for a greenhorn. I made due . The Honda v65 magna is probably the fastest cruising bike I have threw my leg across. Want to try a V MAX one day . This little cruiser may sound different than most but I bet it’s very smooth and efficient.

The seat isn't adjustable there are actually three different seat sizes for short, medium and tall riders. You need a different linkage rod on the shifter side to move that foot peg between the three positions. On the brake side there is enough slack in the hydraulic hose to move between the three positions. It's a dynamite bike for the money, the only small complaint I have is that in first gear the throttle is a bit twitchy, still I love mine.

New Vulcan was my 2nd choice if I didn’t get my new/ used v star just like new 1k miles 2500
@heismysavior212 жыл бұрын
I just came across your channel a couple weeks ago, been an avid long time biker for about 20 years, have had a 2002 and 2004 R6, a 2001 shadow 750 and a 2005 vstar 1100 custom. Thanks for kicking off your videos with scripture, blessed by that. I'm looking into my next potential bike going into next summer, contemplating an iron 883, ideally want around 1,000-1,200cc, but I love the look and colors of the 883s over the 1200s. The 48 has me intrigued though and I'm definitely a fan of the Scout and Scout 60. Thoughts for a guy that's 5'10 and has a good bit or riding behind him? Thanks! 👊🏻🙏🏻☝🏻

How does this compare to an Indian Scout? 100 hp, 72ft/lbs, 561 lbs (w/ fuel)
@inklike69763 жыл бұрын
It’s half the price

The scout should be alot faster, but at the vulcan's lightest you'll be heavier with an extra 50 lbs

Been watching your content awhile, and while not a religious person myself, I love how you respectfully represent your faith. How do you think this compares to a Raider? Also, how is it for tall riders? (I'm 6'5")

3:32 speedo goes from 0-26 MPH. With nothing in between. Either A) Horrible polling rate, or B) You need to wear a neck brace to prevent head snapping during acceleration :)

Faster than a Hardly Ableson isn't a hard task. I have been riding for 40 years. I now prefer lighter nimble bikes.

Hell yeah. My first bike is a Sportster. Currently on a 2019 Harley Davidson Forty Eight. I originally thought a lot about getting a Breakout next year but in all honesty I'm not that hooked into the rest of the Harley bikes. I love mine and have a lot of fun on it and think they're certainly improved a lot but still... The Harley crowd can sometimes be really cool but also really shitty. I think about getting either a Japanese or European sport bike next.

Question for the channel or the more experienced riders: When I started riding in 1992, I bought a Yamaha Fazer 700cc as my first motorcycle (before that, only a Vespa and other scooter types...) without any formal training, and I immediately realized it was too much; I feel that bike stressed me to the point of selling it, and never riding again. I was young and dumb, and that's what I did. After a few months I sold it, and I haven't been on a bike since then. After all this time, I'm trying to get back into the saddle, with a novice motorcycle class, and a bike size I can enjoy more and feel more comfortable in. Would this be a good bike together into (most likely used...) after taking the new riders class? Or is it still too much...? Thanks for the opinions in advance...👀👍

I would say yes I just got a rebel 300 and I love it and hate it at the same time since I want to upgrade already so bad but to be honest I still feel that I need to master a lot of techniques I WOULD RECOMMEND THE REBEL AS A STEPPING STONE/BEGGINNER BIKE

Alejandro González Flores agree 650 or 700cc are too much to handle to beginner with low confidence. better start with 250 or 300 learn things and then move on to more powerful bikes

I have the same bike, but hate that there is no where to mount go pro on handle bar. Have already mounted IPhone holder on one part near the left handle bar. Was thinking of mounting it on gas tank but afraid go pro could fall off. What can you recommend, please?

I keep trying to convince my girlfriend that this is perfect bike for her at 5'2". She won't outgrow the performance, plenty of aftermarket support, and it even looks good with crashbars.

I bought it thinking it’s have to trade up in a year Nope. Not gonna. Don’t need to. Powerful. So powerful! I get pushed back in my seat, accelerating at 65

I've got a request. This bike is good for many sized people. But me being 5'1, I want to eventually get a more powerful bike. I have a Yamaha vstar 650. I'd like something 1300 or larger but it's so hard to find a stronger cruiser for shorter people. Since you have such a vast knowledge, what do you suggest, or can you do a video one day on it? I know there are other vids out there, but they are mostly for 250 to maybe 900 bikes. All beginner bikes. I want one that will help me get an idea on what I can start to look at for when the time comes. Thanks and I really enjoy all your videos. God bless!

Love my Kawi. Went from Bandit 1200S and Fatboy to Ninja 400 for $3150 new from dealer. Vulcan is slow but if gotten cheap would be okay.
@derekwright57225 жыл бұрын
You a new 400 for $3150??? Damn. I'm looking into getting one and I found a dealer with a 2018 ABS model for $4400. Of course not including title,tags,taxes etc so really, its about $5600 out-the-door. I'd definitely pull the trigger with that price
@christopherhuggins32125 жыл бұрын
I own it's predecessor the Vulcan 500 amazing performance out of these little beginner bikes but if you are looking into it as a first bike I'd highly recommend it enough power to not get ran over and keep up with friends in group rides going 80+ mph best advice is to use the pegs like highway pegs for long travels and you are all set to go

This might be the fastest bike but Honda just came out with a 2021 Rebel 1100 With a 1084 CC twin cylinder 4 stroke PGM-FI Electric fuel injection /// I don’t know much more about it but I think you should definitely check out this bike if you get a chance however this cruiser is Base MSRP $9,299 witch might be a good call on Honda’s part because that price would deter a lot of rookie riders and steer them towards the rebel 300 and 500 or might be bad as at that price range your also competing with Harley Davidson and Triumph also Honda’s own line up like the CTX700 DCT / NC750X / shadow phantom

Great bike. I ride this regularly. Comfortable. Quick. If there’s any draw back, it’s pushing it to go 80 on the freeway with traffic. So, I-5 south in CA, might be kinda tricky. Other than that? The mountains are a piece of cake!
