THIS is the New BMW M3 CS! | FIRST DRIVE

This is the brand new BMW M3 CS, and everything you would want to know about it! From a full in-depth walkaround to stretching the M3 CS' legs on the Autobahns before returning for some track laps to put it through its paces. With only around 1,200 to be built, the CS sits at the very top of the F80 M3 line-up as BMW M's latest product, but is it worth the price tag?
Coming in at £86,000 base price in the UK, that can quickly escalate to a 6-figure car with options like the fantastic carbon ceramic brakes. It represents a £25,000 mark-up over the M3 Competition Package but for that you get an increase to 460hp and 600Nm (from 450 and 550 respectively) from the 3.0l biturbo straight-six, a host of carbon fibre parts on the body and alcantara on the interior. With just a 10kg shaving in the weight, the biggest changes come from the way the car is setup and dialed in to be the purist's choice of sporty saloon.
After taking a look around the new M3 CS, let's jump in for a drive on the roads, including a blast on the Autobahn to 270km/h or so; close to the top speed of 280km/h from the CS. Then it's back to the Driving Academy to put in some laps on the handling track before a full exploration of the interior of the car.

Shmee150 ; did I notice old school indicator stalk's Tim, looks like when you indicated to turn left or right they stayed in position unlike modern day indicators when you manually go to switch them off it then starts indicating in the other direction when you just wanted them to stop, which can get a bit annoying, just curious nice BMW though Tim 👍

Love the m4 and m3 CS, that paint looks mega too! Everything works for me, always liked them seats with the cut outs through the seat looks great, not sure if it would really impact comfort either! Is a bit expensive tho has to be said!! Nice review Tim!

In isolation it sounds nominal, however, you must take in account that the CS is now 150 kg lighter than an equivalent C63, that makes one hell of a difference.

The current gen M3/M4 is special in its own way. The exhaust note might not be as intoxicating as the E92 but it definitely makes a nice tune to hear. Personnally I would not buy a M3 CS even though it feels pretty good inside and out, too much money. A regular F80 competition would suffice.

The maximum performance of that engine is capable of? People get stock m3's remapped and push over 510bhp with just an exhaust mod. They are capable of well over 700bhp with stock internals. If anything this engine is massively restricted to keep it from murdering all of the other models above its price range.

This m3 looks like a great car however starting at 98k is a little unappealing because of the sound. You could get a CTSv for which is 10k less than the bmw and a c63s for about 15k less. Plus those two cars sound like beasts and a little quicker.
