it’s so sad what’s happened to Bulgari. Their price increases are insane! I have a screenshot of one of their b.zero1 rings I was interested in last March, and it was 2400 USD. Now, one year later, it’s listed at 3050 USD. That’s a 25% price increase in 1 year!! At this point, it’s actually cheaper to purchase comparable pieces from Cartier than from Tiffany or Bulgari, because the later two are tainted by the greed of LVMH.

I agree with you on how every entity that LVMH buys suddenly has several price increases. Tiffany silver used to be somewhat affordable. The Hardware collection in silver has gone up a lot. I can’t see paying gold prices for silver. I did not realize they bought Birkenstock. I have Birkenstocks that are almost 30 years old that I kept up by having them repaired when they started looking worn. Birkenstock will no longer repair their sandals, and they don’t sell the sealant and soles for repairs any longer. 😒
@bluebanisters2889 Жыл бұрын
It’s a disgrace what they’ve done to Tiffany. I was interested in the T1 gold bangle when it was released in 2020, and it was 5000 USD. 3 years later, it’s 7300. They’ve lost my business, because I’ll go to Cartier for that price.

I once dreamed about owning a puzzle bag and thought the Loewe‘s prices are reasonable. However, as it has become an LVMH company I have seen the price rise by about 400€ within a year. And now that they are even discontinuing the original design to replace it by the Puzzle Edge that doesn’t need all of the pieces of the original, I just give up. I own a preloved one (not the colour I originally wanted and I am just not the expert to tell whether it really is a real one) and a dupe (unbranded). As for the Speedy: I feel sorry that LV‘s heritage, i.e. their canvas pieces, seems to become the pieces that aren’t really the ones that should be desirable. If fakes are the inspiration, I’d rather go for the original which in that case are the fake bags. To be honest, I refuse to give my money to the millionaires, so it will be preloved or smaller companies for me.

It feels to me like everything LVMH buys just turns into dollar signs and loses all quality, integrity and desirability… allegedly
@meowzerzzz Жыл бұрын
Agree, I love the original puzzle.
@graygolding Жыл бұрын
Well, LVMH purchased Loewe all the way back in 1996, and the Puzzle was seen only in 2014. I think the main issue is a change in strategy on the part of LVMH, one which is based on this new concept of ‘extreme value creation’ that seems to be becoming the rule in the luxury industry, whereby sales/outlets are to be avoided, and where drastic price increases don’t scare people away, but instead only increases brand desirability.
@AndreasVibes Жыл бұрын
@@graygolding Thanks for this information! To me it was just crazy to observe the price increase while I kept dreaming about owning one. I was very close to buying one in a boutique for 2450€ last year (medium sized), but I couldn’t justify the price back then. At its current price of close to 3000 it is just out of my league. Thanks to the alleged discontinuation, prices on the second-hand market are very close to retail prices. Admittedly, FOMO is very real and the game Loewe is playing seems to work for them for now. I just wonder how far they can push it. And while I wouldn’t have considered fake bags a couple of years ago, I actually toy with the idea right now as there are still fakes available that seem to be more intricate than the edge, still have feet and the second d-ring that were rationalised away for the smaller sizes, and thus are closer to the original design than the bags available in boutiques. Make it make sense 😂 …

Very interesting video, Dacob. At times, it was very difficult to understand what Farrell was trying to say. Out of curiosity, I decided to watch the entire GQ 'interview' with him. Unfortunately, he did not come across much clearer. He kept making rather "interesting" comments throughout. One that definitely sticks out in my mind is when he was showing new boot designs. He stated: "Who will wear them? I don't know. I can't tell you. I'm not the person that can afford it. They're a pretty buck. (at this point, $1,900 pops up on the screen). I design, and create, and aspire for the person who is a customer, right? (one would hope so😯) Someone who has disposable income. They probably go to, like, celebrations and events." Huh????? Whaaat? Judging what we know about his career and what is reported on the internet about his net worth, I would think he would be able to afford those boots. Also, there are many photos of him attending a celebration event here and there. (Really, Pharrell?) In my eyes, he just did not come across as genuine. As to the new collection? Some things are vaguely interesting, albeit not for everyone. Like you said, all those big conglomerates care about is money. Heritage, no matter how wonderful and meaningful, does not interest them in the least.
