Both versions are good in their own right,but the Legends Dathomir Sisters were interesting. For starters, they didnt use actual magic,nor were they Aliens. A fallen Jedi was exiled to Dathomir,which was actually a very beautiful planet. The different tribes were all descended from her,and they could use the Force but their knowledge of what it was and how to use it was limited. To them,it was magic,and thehand gestures and chants were ways for them to focus and use the Force. They had long since learned to tame and ride the native Rancor,and had a society where the women were in power,men were slaves and husbands,little more. Finally the Nightsisters. They were a clan of outcasts,those who had broken the laws of the clans,gave in to hatred and the power of the Dark Side of the Force. Palpatine had an imperial outpost/prison on the planet,and had it erased from knowledge. The main cast ended up stranded on Dathomir,and had to deal with a war between the clans and thr Nightsisters,who were also trying to take over an Imperial ship in order to escape the Planet. Dont get me wrong,what has become of the Nightsisters is certainly interesting, even beloved by many people. But the original Dathomir was precious to a lot of us,and the retcon wasnt easy to accept

Lets get something straight:I dont agree or disagree with it. I liked the original more,and if I had a choice thats how it would have been. But I understand that a lot of people only know the cannon version. They can like what I dont like,that doesnt affect me. In my mind Legends is what happened, im not going to get angry if someone enjoys the new movies,or the other version of the Nightsisters, or whatever else. Alright, so 3 big takeaways from this episode that I LOVED: 1. I wasn't hopefuly for the character they got to play Ezra. Seemed it bit off, but now that I actually hear him speaking he has a lot of the inflections and the way he talks and carries himself fits Ezra perfectly. Super stoked about it. 2. the little nod to the 3 trilogies when Ahsoka is talking to Huyang about the stories of the galaxy they were heading to, and her saying "The first one of course is the best" a nod to what people say about the mainline films. and 3. the biggest thing about this for me is the fact that they made it feel like a completely different galaxy but managed to make it still feel like Star Wars. I honestly expected them to make it feel more modernized like Promethius or something, but they didn't. And I'm super happy about it.

As someone who never watched the animated Star Wars Rebels series and thus admittedly has no preexisting connection to these characters, I can honestly say that this live-action Ahsoka series is ridiculous. Not as bad as Obi-Wan, but not even moderately good. None of the characters are likeable (except maybe the droids), Thrawn wasn't intimidating like everyone said he would be, and the plot is hair-thin. Unlike Andor, which took nothing for granted and built each character from the ground up with smaller stories connecting to larger plots, this series feels like the kind of fan service that excludes non-fans.

I'm getting a vibe that the sisters and Thrawn made an agreement that if they contact Elsbeth, that the Nightsisters would have a place in Thrawns "New Order." The caskets could also be dead witches, as dead troopers being burried in their catacombs doesn't seem likely. Thrawn mentioned that they'd suffered a lot of losses since being stranded, if they were reanimated troopers, I'd hardly think that'd be a concern. Amazing episode, the magnitude of Thrawn's presence was felt immediately.

So much RIGHT with this episode! To start, Thrawn felt immediately more intimidating in this episode than he did throughout Rebels. I sense Thrawn living up to the potential he showed in the original Zahn trilogy. Also, pristine Lucas-isms, with Sabine befriending the cute native alien species, a la RotJ. Not to mention more world building! With every question answered, two more created. I love the allure of the Star Wars mythos, and hope a lot is still left unanswered. The plot thickens, and my excitement continues to grow. Also, Enoch already goated with the sauce.

What's very interesting to me is that not only stormtroopers are patched with those gold elements (except for red parts) but Chimera also seems to be bit randomly patched with some ancient Dathomiri stuff. At first I thought these were just damage but then noticed it's golden as well and it's actually replacing certain parts. I can really see Thrawn making use of some ancient tech of Dathomiri, it fits his appreciation of unique culture and history as well as his nature to use many unorthodox methods. I love that the distorted music was super interesting and to hear the organ suddenly play underneath it was great. Thrawn naturally gets his organ theme, but it also gets storted by Peridia. As for Baylan, I think perhaps Filoni is inspired by Kreia from KOTOR2 and that maybe Baylan could want to kill the Force. He said similar things to her such as the endless cycle of war, death and renewal. Side note: I also think Shin's design is interesting because she seems to be a mashup between Vaylin and Senya from SWTOR as well. Just... observations.

One great thing I like about the episode is how you can see how the stay in the other galaxy has worn down the Imperials, when you look at the Chimera you can see how it was repaired as best as possible but even still some parts were damaged. For the actual crew you can see most visibly how the stormtroopers had cracked armor with dull colors that they needed to mend with red cloth and gold, (I choose to believe that that's what the cloth is there for rather than magic healing) heck even Thrawn wasn't spared by time, as people said he was a little out of shape and you could see his uniform was worn on the right side. They're small details but they help to add to the story.

I really loved how they have portrayed thrawn so far. He has that cool (yet slightly calming) menace that he had in the books. He also takes time to think through his responses. There were a few scenes where he was asked a question or told some news and he would stand there and think for a moment before responding. Also how he kept his cool and responded rationally when discovering that someone is using the purgils to travel to them. He basically went "it would be idiotic of us not to assume it was ahsoka." Over all, as a huge thrawn fan I am happy how he's been portrayed so far.

That reveal shot of the Chimaera was epic. Love that, even when badly damaged, an Imperial I-class can still look menacing and force to reckoned with. Such an iconic and timeless design. Though, the design is odd. In the Rebels series, Chimaera was a modified ISD I, basically having the hull and sensor array of an ISD I, but her primary battery of superfiring turbo lasers and ion canons on either side of the superstructure were replaced with octuple turbo laser mounts, more akin to what would be introduced as standard aboard ISD IIs. In Ahsoka, it looks as though they did the opposite, having an ISD II sensor array and hull, but utilizing ISD I turbo laser and ion cannon mounts in superfiring positions on either side of the super structure. You may be right about the sensor array being damaged and part of it is missing, but the primary battery is inaccurate to how Chimaera is in Rebels. Just some fun details I noticed. Can’t wait to see more of her. Hopefully they fix her up and she becomes the infamously famous flagship of the Imperial Remnant that her ISD II counterpart was in Legends.

I liked how the top of the Mothers' tower matches the layout of the "temple" on Seatos, but in a far better shape. Makes sense, you would need one on both ends to read the map. And while the one on Peridea has presumably been maintained over the centuries by the Mothers (the same three or generations of them? Who knows) the one on Seatos had long been forgotten and fallen in disrepair. Which is why one looks pristine, with shiny golden inlays in the carvings, while the other looks battered by the ages.

I actually think Thrawn being a little on the heavier side of things, it reminds of the Napoleon I at Fontainebleau on March 31, 1814 oil painting. It's like a mirror to how Napoleon was defeated in battle was exiled to the island of Elba, just like how Thrawn was exiled to Peridea. And like Napoleon, Thrawn plots for his eventual return with what meagre forces he has at his disposal to restore the fallen Empire. It would be really cool if there was Grenoble at Laffrey moment where Thrawn through charisma convinces surviving Imperials to join his cause.

@Marvolo14 Жыл бұрын
No way they introduce something as existential and lovecraftian as Abeloth. Filoni has to keep all of this stuff digestible for general audiences. Besides Abeloth wasnt even popular during the Pre Disney days. She was more of a "Jump the shark" part of the lore. So it's best that Filoni and Star Wars leave Abeloth in the Legends and forget her. Tho I suppose Filoni could change Abeloth to just be a really powerful and scary Night Sister. Give her some of Abeloths qualities, shape shifting and sharp teeth, and have her use magic but get rid of the goddess stuff.
