I love Formula 1 and I love hearing Noel and Cody discuss it. Noel talking to Cody is how every F1 fan sounds talking to someone who doesn’t know anything about the sport but for some reason F1 fans need to talk about things that happen in the sport like they’re getting something off of their chest. I love F1 and how passionate the fans are.

Noel did a good job summarising the incident. Only thing he missed was how “cars can unlap themselves” applies to ALL cars every single time but the FIA suddenly changed it to just those 5 cars between the title contenders. Them only allowing those 5 cars to unlap themselves also ruined the race for other drivers cause they were stuck behind Lewis and max and couldn’t better their positions. The suddenly change of rules and other drivers being confused why they couldn’t race is what made that race so controversial.

Also: he should've given the unlap cars the order a lap or 2 before. Alonso, Norris, Sainz and other drivers were asking why they weren't given the order at that point. Also, it would've been ridiculous to start the race with most of the cars getting a blue flag.

one thing to add. in the rule book it’s actually says and i quote “any cars out of racing order while under the safety car” so in my mind this a blurry line between all and most. really does any mean all is the question.

as a Verstappen fan, his victory didn't feel all that satisfying. The FIA handled that race so poorly, position 3, 4, and 5 all had lapped cars between them but only the ones between max and lewis can unlap themselves. It just feels like everyone that's not max and lewis are neglected by the FIA. And yeah, as much as I want to see a dramatic final lap between the 2 drivers, this is just a terrible way to conclude the race.

Just to clarify a critical part of everything Noel explained: FIA reversed the call for cars to unlap themselves because its on the book rule. The problem is that they took to long to do that, and I would say that it was probably because the lack of experience from them on a dramatic situation like that.

I'm a Max fan, but I can agree that it was a controversial season and especially a controversial race. I hope that the sport doesn't lose fans after this season and that the FIA is more serious and tougher applying their own rules, a lot of controversies could have been avoided.

Not possible, track wasn't clear at the time. What Masi could have done was end the yellow flag without letting the backmarkers unlap. This would be much fairer and much more exciting to watch, instead of massively benefiting only Verstappen and being as boring of an overtake as it could have been.

It's literally the opposite. Speaking of children, part of growing up is being able to realize that sometimes you're opinion is the minority. The childish thing to do would be to egotistical hold onto your opinion as the "right one", and consider all those other people as wrong. Or beneath you, as you clearly do, through the passive aggressive language. So grow up. Or continue to huff and puff about all future highlights videos because I GUARANTEE, the heavy editing is not going anywhere. Nice job on summarizing! Only thing I'd add is that they (FIA - Masi) decided to let ONLY the cars between Lewis and Max un-lap themselves, instead of the entire grid of lapped cars like the rules state and justify it under a "race director can use his discretion" clause, while rushing the safety car in the process just to make a spectacle or put on a show with 1 lap to go. Rules also state that the safety car will return on the FOLLOWING LAP after the backmarkers passed the safety car, which that was disregarded as well or else the race would have finished under safety car. I'm only salty cause this race was my wife's intro to F1, she woke up crack-ass of dawn to watch it live with me and got really invested and said "that doesn't seem fair at all" while the last lap played out.

Hey Noel! You explained this perfectly and I absolutely agree this was such a weird ending to this phenomenal season. I think the only thing you forgot telling was the following: while there was a safety car, the FIA should have started the process of lapped cars, unlapping themselves. This is the standard rule, but somehow they didn't apply it this time. It has happened multiple times this season. With laps running out, there wasn't much time left and they chose to only lap the 5 cars. Weird move. If they just started the unlapping process earlier, there wouldn't be any outcry and Max would have still won this easily. It would be the same outcome, but without FIA fucking up. TLDR: please more talks about F1 and sorry you have to cope with Cody not understanding F1 lol.
