The last point you made about partners regularly checking in about the relationship reminds me of this hadith (Which is considered weak): ‘Aisha raḍyAllāhu ‘anha and the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam would express their love for each other regularly. One day, she asked the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam how he would describe his love for her. The Prophet Muhammad answered: “Like a strong binding knot.” Every so often ‘Aisha would playfully ask, “How is the knot?” The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam would answer, “As strong as the first day (you asked).” This teaches the importance of verbally expressing love between the spouses and to the point you made sister Nafisa, about checking in on how the relationship is going.

Salam sister I need your advice on something I have been seeing this guy for 8months now who doesn’t have a job when we met he wanted us to get married but recently we hardly even talk mind you we are in country where the economy has gotten really bad,life has become so hard and he’s always complaining about that also he’s currently doing he’s masters, he also has other personal issues that am aware of. The problem now is we hardly communicate like we use to am just really fed up. What do I do? It’s not like an rushing to get married I will love to start working before getting married.Another question that I have is should I just delete him from my life or not. And is not like I have someone else who is interested in marriage .
