This is so true. 3 months ago I left a very well known high tech company after 30 years. The last few years were particularly stressful because I had a 2nd job dumped on me. The job was extremely difficult and tedious because its been done the same way for 20 years, with outdated equipment. I gave ideas for improvement but I was ignored. Even with all my experience, it was as if I knew nothing. I was just left to figure it all out. I developed migraines and vertigo that were almost debilitating. I finally went to my manager and said I couldn’t do the 2nd job long term. Crazy thing, I just wanted to do one job, since I’m … you know… one person. I was told I could stop doing the 2nd job when I’d found my replacement and they were fully trained. OK… so I’m also a hiring manager now…???? I am so relieved to no longer be at that job. After 3 months, I feel like I’m starting to decompress. It was so bad for my health. I should’ve left sooner. Lesson learned.
