I'll say one thing ... Learn to speak and understand Spain Spanish and you'll likely be able to speak it anywhere (perhaps with the exception of Chile). Only after learning for a while and then going to Argentina and Mexico did I realize how fluent I had gotten. Except for the colloquial terms in Mexico, that Spanish is very easy for me to understand. Argentina isn't bad either one you get used to the y and ll sounds. ¡A por ello! (Go for it!)

With just over 1,000 hours of comprehensible input this is seriously the first time I have seen this expression. You learn something new all the time. About the Spanish spoken in Spain: maybe it's just me, but that seems like a much easier dialect/accent compared to the rest. I'm sure I haven't listened to all dialects from Spain, though. Puerto Rican seems like the tough Spanish to me.

@@c.learningclub I should also mention that though I had studied Latin American Spanish in middle and high school as a kid, I had never learned vosotros. So most of my true, in-earnest Spain Spanish learning started when I was 50 years old, so I cry BS on anyone that says they're too old to learn it. I'm not especially gifted at languages, and if I can do it, anyone can.

This is a good video. It reminds me that practice and making mistakes are the only ways to learn. I am Dutch but have lived in Spain for 10 years now. My Spanish has definitely improved, but it remains hard to deal with the speed and dialect (Andaluz), understand it, and then respond in Castellano while still thinking about words and conjugations. My work is not in a Spanish environment, so that takes away a lot of possibilities for practice. Plus one has the tendency to speak in English, Dutch, German whenever it's possible to make the conversation more natural when people come from those countries which languages I speak. Pronunciation is not my problem, it's pretty good they say. It's speaking with fluency, and understanding others.

I really appreciated this video. Your expression is clear and your voice soothing. I studied Spanish every day for a year in preparation for a trip to Buenos Aires. I loved the city and the culture but even though I could understand a lot I totally blocked when I tried to speak. 6 months later I feel like giving up. Any advice?

Totally understandable. It sounds like your putting a lot of pressure on yourself, and that creates a lack of confidence, which doesn't help to move yourself further or faster because of those insecurities. I'll be happy to help you out if needed. Un abrazo!
