If you watched all of that you're pretty cool lol. I also want to point out the irony in me making this into a video given the subject.. I had to blur a chunk of this video because I didn't realize it was attaching addresses to several spots and some of them were fairly close to home.

The amount of times I've opened a foldable to show my friends something and had people do a double take...i went to pay my bill at t-mobile and the girl behind the counter went "is that the one plus open?? Can i take a look at it?" I obliged. She played with it, handed it back, looked at her iphone and sighed. I love foldables so much.

Shane, you are one of the reasons I got back into the foldable phone (Pixel Fold) again. That and meeting up with Michael (Mr Mobile) at a phone event made it clear that this form factor is the killer reason my productivity increased. I got this phone just before my trip to San Fran and it was great to see directions and read about the great Napa wineries at the same time. As far as legitimizing your hobby and making it into a business is admirable and something I am not willing to do and happy that you're doing it. As far as stress, if it ain't stressful, then it is probably not worth pursuing. Happy thoughts and keep up the good work! 🤘

Years ago I bought a Tab S8 and it became my all tim favorite device. The screen size was perfect for me. Not too big like a normal tablet but not small like a bar phone. I remember wishing they would come out with a phone that could somehow also become a tablet The firstt time I saw the z fold I just about flipped. It's exactly what I wanted except for the price. Later Samsung offered me a deal that I just couldn't pass up and I got a Fold 4. I like it even more than I thought I would. I absolutely love having a phone that doubles as a tablet. I use it with Dex as a desktop, as a tablet, and of course a phone. Those three devices separately would have cost me more than the Fold. I will never go back to a bar phone again. And Shane, this channel has been one of my biggest inspirations. You do a great job!

I was one of those that said I would never buy the pixel fold or any folding device mainly because of the price. And also I did not see the purpose since I had two tablets already. However, the folding devices have changed my entire tech life. I don't even like holding an actual tablet anymore. I do lots of multitasking and it is so convenient to be able to do that. So much easier on a folding device than on a regular slab device. One of the things I do with my tablet is I use it in my car to watch videos (when I'm parked of course... LOL) but I sit in my car a lot for what I do so it is very convenient. Also, I have three Bible apps that I use and now I can use them side by side with ease. By the way, thanks for the Be Nice app tip because it's been very helpful.

The main reason I got a foldable phone (oppo find N3 global in Australia) is to have in one screen Waze and uber driver app. As an Uber driver, this is another level. Also, for reading and sign documents, in open canvas everything is better.

Ok. Here are a few ways I use the split screen capability of my OnePlus Open. 1. Bill paying on my phone allows me to put up my Bank's mobile app, alongside my check ledger app, plus a calculator app in case something is out of balance. 2. Shopping. I open my Lowes app alongside my Home Depot app to comparison shop. I also do the same with the Amazon app alongside the WalMart app. 3. Weather . I use my local TV stations weather app alongside my Rain Alert app. 4. I have all of these and others set up in a saved view/folder that allows me to click one icon and voila, the two or three designated apps open together. Once you've done this on a folder, youll never go back to a candy bar phone.

I really enjoyed watching this video, both the insights regarding your work and the tipps about the bird watching apps are super cool. My favourite use is just two handed typing. I used to own two phones with a sliding keyboard before they disappeared from the market. And sideways turned candybar just doesn't cut it. Other thing is just using a password manager or a 2FA authenticator right next to the app I'm logging into. I have started using widgets much more as I have all the screen real estate now. And I love apps that support a large screen mode like being able to view my email list and read them without transitioning.

I completely agree with you. I'm a cycling coach. My athletes upload training data files to various websites and that data is often linked and shared by the athlete with multiple platforms, of which I follow through apps on my phone. Being able to write and plan a training program on one site and simultaneously see that workout carried out, recorded and displayed on a 2nd site app is fantasticly useful. For entertainment, a music app on one screen with a graphic equalizer display on the other is neat when docked or displayed on a stand on my stereo cabinet. Lastly, I also do some commercial building on the side.... being able to review a blueprint on one screen and make notes, take pictures, engage in a video conference or email status reports on the other is crazy useful.
@KrisRogos

I'll go with these 3 examples: I've been using a password manager for almost a decade. A handful of times a week I will be using an app or a website that for some reason doesn't get detected by the keyboard integration, some banking apps don't let you copy and paste either. So, having the password manager side by side with the other apps is very useful. I play a few games like Clash of Clans or MTG Arena, which are not very fast-paced as you end up waiting for the other player or your troops to do their thing or for the animation to play out. So being able to play them side by side with each other, or with a new article or Reddit thread or other equally low-effort task, is a nice experience. Though this is where the G2 shows its weaknesses, having 2 games open does cause it to lag. Finally, let's not ignore that this is a 7.6" display; watching a video or playing a single game on a larger screen is a much more immersive experience than on a regular phone.

Duo was killed by reviewers who wanted to use the device like a typical slab. The biggest complaintz raised were that they didn't like the phone mode and they didn't like that there was a seem when you spanned apps. They didn't get it, and they didn't really use it's strengths. I'll agree that the camera, especially for the first Duo wasn't the strongest, but as a multitasker, that wasn't my priority for a device. The Duo 2 was perhaps the best layout ever and I greatly valued the fact that when you opened the device you had two screens that automatically put you in multitasking mode. I would have loved the Pixel Fold hardware with the Duo launcher.

Sooooo much I find folding phone to be just perfect for. Gaming for one. Clamping a controller onto my Z Fold 5 and playing Sonic Robo Blast 2 is something I actually prefer to doing it on my Steam Deck. Drawing on it of course has been wonderful... to such an extent that my iPad Pro and Galaxy Tab just collect dust. Editing pictures on it is just so much more comfortable than doing it on a regular phone, and folding it laptop style to edit videos on it with the timeline on the bottom half is just *chefs kiss* Also a big fan of using a DAW on my Fold with it in laptop form where my keyboard/drumpads are at the bottom. There's also a seemingly small, but absolutely huge thing... being able to have my password manager side by side with whatever site or game I'm trying to sign into. Doing this on a slab is downright infuriating after doing it on a foldable. Any time I try to return to slab phones, it's actually this one thing that ensures I come running back to foldables in less than a day 😅

Ipads/tablets arent for everyone but for those that really use them, really like them. Foldables are the same. Not everyone needs to multitask between several apps or have "productivity" focused schedules. But for those that have niche uses where more screen space or 2 apps or convenience of travel is more important -- yeah foldables are cool. I have a daily phone and a foldable because the things i want dont work well on a standard phone, but i dont wanna bring a tablet everywhere. Its never gonna be the main thing, but they are great tools for those that know theyre "that market"

As a dance teacher I need to multitask by finding music and setting up teaching classes. A normal slab phone just doesn’t work. I don’t have a foldable yet (I use my iPad) but I definitely will be buying one for my next phone. Maybe most people don’t need to multitask but for those that do… a slab phone just simply doesn’t do the job.

Sadly, working a traditional Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5:30 job leaves me little room for pursuing other interests then you throw kids in the mix that use what little free time you do have, you can see where I am going with this. I applaud you though for thinking outside the box here with something that you didn't have an immediate interest in but stuck with it and saw that you liked it. I totally get the benefit here of having a folding phone with your example and completely agree that it helps a lot. My problem is that these examples for me are few and far between where having two displays side by side really proves very useful but to get this benefit those few rare times means I have to carry the bulk and other compromises that still come with todays foldables at least in thr US market a 100% of the time. I haven't even brought the cost factor in the conversation yet which is roughly double or 1.5 times more than the best slab phones. I do love the PF form factor though, being so close to the SD1 which I have and still love to use occasionally but it would be hard to put down my P8P to use anything else at this point. Maybe the PF2 might change my mind if it's more equal hardware wise to the Pixel 9 series which will justify the cost premium over the Pixel 9 Pro XL. I am into these more oddball videos lol, keep them coming.

This video is awesome. I use my OnePlus Open in such a boring way for the most part. General use is the cover screen for one-handed use or the inner screen for content consumption and social media / maps when on the go. It's essentially my work phone and I do use split screen multitasking for my work apps. I've rarely used split screen other than that. I would very much like to find more creative ways to use this device but im honestly pretty lazy and between work and having a toddler, I'm extremely busy.

I wouldnt mind a foldable. , but there are some cons that are deal breakers for me ( maybe I’m to old fashioned), the first thing is the plasticky main screen which are more prone to damage and problems( and I am a clumsy old bugger) , the plasticky screen also tends to have a much poorer oleophobic coating on it , not forgetting the crease which if you live in a hotter climate , that crease is going to be more apparent in the outside bright sun. Add to that , being foldables they do come with some inherent compromises due to the design of them being basically two very thin phones with a hinge in the middle. Probably the worst thing for me was seeing a young blokes z fold 5 , his was barely 6 months old and it was already not good with the screen showing dead pixels , it was already starting to split up the centre of the screen , and it was a greasy mess. The guy said he was a power user and despite its lack of robustness , he still loved the device and was going to get a new screen . Obviously they have something going for them , but they are not for everyone. Price doesn’t worry me , I always buy the good stuff , but the fact the foldables do have some inherent weaknesses, and yet they are still very pricey I couldn’t bring myself to buy one , though I have other more modern phones , I still also use my galaxy note 9 for certain tasks and it is still in pristine condition at nearly 6 years old , never had a repair , if a foldable lasts 4 years that’s actually been well used without an issue I’ll be very surprised and impressed .

its not until you run a foldable for a few days or weeks and actually start using the extra space doing two things at once, do you get it. Surface Duo excelled in this. It's cliche to say when I have one app open and then I realize I need to open up something else, like a calculator or my browser to search for something to apply to my first app, and open it on the same visual space, my brain "lights up."

It's easy to understand how some people benefit from a folding phone. But I tried one for 2 weeks and couldn't find a single use case that made it worth the extra weight and width to me personally. If they ever make one to where I sacrifice nothing to gain use of it 5% of the time, I'll think about it again

Have you looked at something like the OnePlus Open? It's not significantly heavier than a normal large flagship.

No I won't carry anything larger than about 6.3". The rumors of a Pixel 9 Pro in a smaller size has me super excited. Finally telephoto in a "regular" size phone, and not Apple? I'll preorder right now sight unseen

Seeing someone recommend Pokemon GO is kind of funny. That's yet again another use case for folding devices. A buddy of mine used to have two accounts on his Galaxy Fold and I really can't imagine doing that comfortably on a normal slab phone. On another note. Seeing as you switch phones a lot, I do this a lot as well. I switch from the Galaxy Fold5 to the Pixel Fold almost every other day. Is you Pixel Fold your current phone right now? Mine is the Galaxy Fold5 but now I kind of want to use the Pixel Fold again XD

At this moment, SIM is in Pixel Fold. It'll be back in the Open soon though.

If you're looking for an idea. I would left IOS for a foldable. I feel many others have as well. would appreciate a video about the basic of android or things you can do tips and trick etc.

I have to mention that i use split screen more than 90% of my time. Fold phones were literally created for me, their price unfortunately isn't for me. I'm a very heavy multitasker, i need at least two apps open at the same time!! Google, UNFORTUNATELY, but not surprisingly, killed the easy ways to multitask on their phones after Android 9. Since then I've been using my pixel phones with 600 dpi to 'fake-tableting' it so i can get the multitasking task bar on my phone!! (My eyes lost all their respect for Google)

The reasons I insist on using pixel phones are cos I want to always have the most updated software, and there are some little features that I need.

You probably don't need to have a folding phone, but that is the opinions of people who do not have the ability to multi task on a phone. I'm one of those people, I open an app, use it and close it. I never have apps open in the background. To save memory and battery life. Then there are those that have 50 apps open and multiple apps open on dual screens. They can do it, awesome. No one is the same, let's respect each other.

Just FYI, I'm unaware of a good reason to close all your apps frequently. Android does a pretty solid job of managing RAM these days and it can actually be more draining to re-open an app rather than just leaving it "open" in the background. You're meant to just leave stuff alone unless you have a misbehaving app. I get the instinct, but it's not really necessary anymore.
