not trying to knock on BG3 but my game was absolutely broken. not even gonna try to go back for a long time. the game launched with 4000+ bugs. half the game is optimized like trash. yet you guys hail it for not having these issues. but it does. hypocritical as fuck. and they had just as many people as BGS and the game is FAR smaller. the only reason it took so long to make is because of the motion capture and voice acting. i honestly think the only reason BG3 is even hyped this high is because of the nudity and sex. which is fine but the game didnt come out at good quality. they even had to push the review codes for outlets pretty far and they got it in less than a week and gave the game 100s before even finishing the first act. NPCs looking like Totally Accurate Battle Simulator stuff and falling through floors -- these are Daggerfall era problems. Quin is suggesting they crop up regularly enough that the advertised SF gameplay must have been very carefully edited (which I think is bordering on fraud, not sure.) The boredom of soulless procedural stuff takes longer to feel, but even this should have been picked up on by the so-called critics. Too many of the shills are getting away with personalizing it: "it's something I'm going to enjoy for a long while, but that's just me personally. It's just my opinion." This is not good enough in any other area of criticism (film, art, literature, music, etc.) So it shouldn't be good enough here. Especially PC gamers have to take a better approach, not least because we invest in our computers in a fairly serious way.

IGN and Gamespot have been around a long while, unlike many of the other "critics." They have to be fairly credible, it is part of their brand. Even then the 7/10 is probably too generous. There has to be a consumer awareness movement in gaming -- Asmon is sort of an early sign of what's needed, and Quin, too, apparently. The reason a consumerist approach is needed is because there is so much choice now together with the heavy duty arrival of inflation in game pricing. (100 bucks for something you may be disappointed with in 3 hours?) Throw in meta streaming options like Gamepass (the mirage of a 1 dollar Starfield game) and it is difficult to assess value in any kind of objective way. Starfield is a deal for 1 buck, on Gamepass... lol, but is it a deal at 120 Canadian dollars as a Steam purchase? Lol. The same game, but not. You need some kind of basic sense of what a game should be on release: and Quin has hit it out of the park. A game should be more or less free of bugs if you are buying a AAA game that goes for 90 USD on Steam -- or even for 1 buck on Gamepass. He has also hit on the false advertising issue and the use of planted reviews. Good games don't need to lie or to rig reviews. This is an Emperor's Clothes moment in gaming.

I think its important to observe that a lot of these people are politically motivated as well because starfield embelishes the main tenants of ESG and the more the products with intentional diversity and inclusion at the expense of writing and story fail the harder it is to reinforce these types of politically motivated products. I played to the point i went to mars, got a mining side quest, third part of it was bugged, so i left for a bounty hunting side quest, wasted 15 minutes to put on a detector, talked to the quest giver, said come later, 10 secs later tells me they got the guy who had the bounty! Did another side quest, delivered a note from first city to a woman on mars, did another one, went to heart of mars, so empty and no fight, came back told me keep it (it was a rock i guess?), did another side quest for a sciemtist, told me collect recivers under trees, collected few saw a boi who said get him an egg so he tells me where they are, got the egg, went found one recieves by mark, quest complete, i wasted 100 caps and got an egg, one more was go get some mats for a bartender, got it in 3 mins, quest complete, so much fun guys i cant handle it someone shut down my pc pls :D

Worst game I've ever had to endure. Played 30 hours of it but didn't enjoy any of it. Absolutely miserable experience. Gutted I bought from Cdkeys who won't refund. Quins review is spot on accurate. Starfield is abysmal, incomplete and falsely advertised. 100% boring and Bethesda must have known they were putting out utter tripe. Played on an rtx4090 and it still looked painfully bad.

Anyone thinking Paul Tassi is not, is a complete idiot or corrupt him/herself. Giving Starfield a 9.5/10 is for sure paid in one way or the other. The same goes for every single person giving Starfield a 9/10 or better. Not even the most massive Bethesda fanboy/girl would give Starfield more than maximum 8/10 if he/she was honest. Truth. I went in very excited for another Bethesda adventure. After 16 hours I refunded. Game is mid, very very mid. 6/10. Other than Fallout 76 it is their worst game. I can understand 5/10 to 8/10. People are going to want different things and enjoy different things. But the truth is their are far better games out right now than this. Game Pass or 50% off are the only ways I can justify playing this game. Even then it's still a pass for me personally. Such a shame, such squandared potential due to truely baffling poor game design choices.

@@lofi1598 it's a $70 game, polish is expected, for now from what I've seen it's very inconsistent in terms on how it looks, with npcs looking like they thought a tab of lsd was the whole sheet. the loading screens are obnoxious if you have to do a quest accross planets, direct access is a thing now. talk to npc, get quest - get out of building loading screen - get to ship loading screen - get to orbit loading screen - maybe get an event with extra loading screens -do the same in reverse and do it twice to get back. if it released in like 2013 it would get less scrutiny, but that was 10 years ago and it does look dated. tbh it did met my expectations, it's a Bethesda game, of course it's gonna be a buggy mess on launch with bad UI/UX and the mods will fix it. and giving early access to only journalists who say positive things about the game is an iffy practice. the game is probably still a 15/20 but there's so many games that are better that are on my list that I'm not going to play it for a while.

Starfield is not about exploring space freely, it's about having conversations with people. The problem is that it has been marketed as a space simulation game with the freedom to explore. That's literally a quote from the interviews with Tod Howard. If that's bad or good, it's on you to decide. If you look at Starfield as just another game, you can clearly see that its technology is outdated. It feels like you are playing an old game because of the game engine limitations, many loading screens, bugs, invisible barriers, weird facial expressions on characters, the fps lock, and many other things... In a way, that's what makes a Bethesda game, let's say "special". In reality, that's a really low standard for older games and especially for modern ones. As a gamer that respects Bethesda's past achievements and accepts Tod Howard's constant lies, Starfield for me is just another classic Tod Howard lie. When the developers of No Mans Sky lied about their game, everybody was talking about how it wasn't what they said it would be. We judged them fairly for their lies. In fact, it was a monumental failure that woke up us gamers and changed our thoughts on preordering games in the future. So why are we praising Tod Howards lies and not judging them the same?

I literally spent a couple hours just running around on foot on a planet for a certain quest. If you just rush the main story you won't have fun in a bethesda game. So this was my most hyped game of the year. When the 7/10 reviews dropped I was like, no way this is a mainline Bethesda RPG these guys are nuts... Well I just got off playing like an hour and a half and I have to say... - most of my time was spent in loading screens. There's one every couple of minutes, including seeing your ship fly to locations, land, etc. - I went on earth and the moon to explore and honestly it was just boring shit. The moon had pirates for some reason. Earth doesnt even have ruins you can explore... I also explored the first world you land on Kreet. It's so boring I've decided to write off exploration right off the bat. - I got into a fight with some mercenaries, gunplay is boring. It's not Halo or CoD. It's FO4, but honestly like a shitty FO4. I get a lot of people see FO4 as mid but I genuinely had a great time with it and think it gets ripped on too harshly. This is just... boring. The enemies are like 99% human space guy with gun. - The story I'm intruiged by, but literally everything is hampering it. - I get glimpses of greatness which are quickly suffocated by everything I just said. I loved landing on mars and going into that underground city, but again, loading screens over and over, and then your off. - I think the worst loading screens are of the ship flying because every time I see it I just think, wow they ripped off no mans skies mining laser but not an open galaxy. I have to watch my ship fly that than fly it and land it myself. And exploration is what this game it touting? It's single handedly the worst part of the game and I'm only a couple hours in. I work construction and I dont have much free time on the weekdays, so I'll give this game a try more this week but man I'm just about ready to call it a dud for me. I was literally day-dreaming of playing Doom Eternal while I was enjoying 45 minutes of loading screens and warp jumps.

Its not only the "journalists", it's also generous people not knowing the exact amount of worktime/financials needed to create a game/simulation, which does all the things "promoted". Look at Star Citizen - while they also had to build its "company" first, their devs also always said "soon(tm)" and they actually try to achieve alot of things on a technical/gameplay-mechanics level, which you cannot even "see" - you may recognize the outcome later.... That takes ages by now and they are not even done, or seems near an "end" and they are "hated" by many for it (false advertising, infinite tech-demo, ship-cash-grabber, etc.) ... To come back to my point: people are delusional about the timespan (& creation of "game logic") it takes to create something outstanding. They are conditioned to "new games" arriving each 3+ years and that means mostly just doing it the same way, it was done the past x years, without innovation. Then a new "Starfield" comes out or whatever the next title will be called and they are brought back to reality, whilst listening and believing the "marketing-stories".

Fast travel is a very delicate QoL mechanic to implement in any game because if you don't have a good system people will complain your game is tedious but you overdo it it completely ruins the immersion of the game. This issue is 10x worse in space games that desperately need to keep the illusion alive and immersive. Even a game limited by its time like Mass Effect forced the player to walk back to their ship after exploring a station or a planet, to ensure the fantasy stays intact. Being able to fast travel from a dungeon to a city in another planet is an utter disgrace. Starfield might be good as a game, as a Bethesda game with space Skin, but when it comes to the space genre they had no business making this game. They had no ideia what they were getting into and it feels like they ignored 2 decades of space games and decided to figure it out by themselves. The result is this tragedy of a game.
