Not only does it dismiss what it means to transition, it also dissmisses what it means to be a biological woman. As a currently 37 weeks pregnant woman myself, about to give birth, I can't help but feel like this whole movement is hurting biological woman. It feels like it's dis-acknowledging the amazing abilities of a woman's body, the life we can create, the food we can provide through our breasts, and the pain we have to suffer from periods, to pregnancy and child birth, to menopause later in life etc. It makes me sad to see all of this being dismissed like it's nothing, and same goes for the women in sports who now have no chance to win - which winning is what competetive sport is all about. After everything women have gone through to get to where we are today, it's dissapointing to feel a step back into suppression but for a different reason now. I support trans people, but I don't support them surpressing cis/biological women. There needs to be a distinction still, because there's clearly always going to be differences and no one else in this world can do what we can do with our bodies.

I have a cousin who for a while identified as trans. She started dressing like a boy and had the full support of our family. We even used male pronouns at her request. As she got up in her teen years she talked about wanting to transition. Again, had the support of family who were open to those discussions and her journey to know her truth. Willing to ask questions to understand where her heart and mind was. Authentically. When she turned 17, she said she realized that she was a lesbian with an extreme tomboy personality and said she didn’t really think she was trans. Again we continued to support her because life can be difficult with judgement from others. Today she lives as a woman who dates other women and said she’s glad she didn’t go through with the surgery. I am completely supportive of the trans community and I agree that conversation has been muddled when they are not willing to acknowledge these stories.

Honestly, I’m 13 right now and sometimes I have a passing thought of ‘Hey, I really want to be a guy right now’, in which it was more prevalent when I was younger. I’m coming to terms that maybe it was because of all the stuff I’ve been through and the fact that I’ve always thought that being a boy would rid me of all the negative statements made about my body and the trauma I’ve more or less experienced. Why? Because I believed it would make me feel as though I was reborn. Also, the idea of being a guy in a girl’s body influenced me a lot, as I’ve picked up a lot of traditionally ‘male’ behaviours, speech and so on due to not having much of a mother-figure in my life and growing up watching men on the internet. If I were to have told my parents about wanting to be a boy and they were to have allowed me to transition, I feel as though I’d probably never truly feel happy with myself as I’d know that I’ll never truly be a boy. Just make sure to let her know you’ll support her no matter what but make sure not to make any rash decisions, as even now, hormonal blockers are relatively new and there aren’t any known side effects yet, in which one of them could be the potential permanent impairment of the brain. I tried to have a conversation with a nonbinary person about this, explaining how i thought it would make it difficult for governments to identify you, that there are more important battles to get acceptance rather than removing "ladies and gentlemen" from public announcements before even having people knowing what non binary mean (let's be honest, a lot of people that don't spend too much time on the internet dont know what genderfluid and non binary are). This person straight called me "victim of the patriarchy" and bigot since im straight and cisgender, told me that their requests are legit and we just have to accept them, and that if we don't know what nonbinary/genderfluid means it's time for us to get educated instead of thinking that there are only two genders. I’m a biological female. If I were to be a trans male, I would still have a disadvantage in male sports. It’s common sense.
@jzargothesnowleopard3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, going on testosterone (especially when you’re younger, 18+) changes the density of your bones, the thickness of your skin, the emotions you feel, and you gain muscle at much the same rate as a bio male would, assuming you work out and eat right for your body type. I would say if a trans male hasn’t been on testosterone for at least a year, then they might have some disadvantage in athletics, but for the most part, most trans men can compete with most bio men at the same level or higher. Testosterone does a lot more to the bio female body than estrogen does to the bio male body. That’s why a lot of trans women have a hard time transitioning if it’s not early on, they are stuck with the permanent changes of testosterone that estrogen can’t really change.

There used to be an acceptance that girls and boys could have varied interests now if you don't like the things "assigned" to their gender you are suddenly trans regardless of dysphoria or not and that is just idiocy. I am a 48 y/o gay man, who grew up in the midwest and lived through and personally experienced many of the struggles of the gay rights movement and you hit the nail on the head when speaking about the differences between that and the trans movement. You guys are in sore need of a REBRAND and these emotionally stunted ‘angry teenagers’ that are running the show now need to just suck it up, own their mistakes, walk it back and decide to try a different approach. People are really getting hurt by all this, both in and out of your community and cooler heads need to prevail because things are only going to get worse. We are going to see a huge landslide of gay male detransitioners soon. They are telling these gay men that liking make up and glam means you’re trans, and that you don’t have to even hate your body or genitals to be trans! Add in the desperation many femme gay men feel when it comes to dating (since gay men want masculine men) and they see that transsexual women are desired by men, and they crave that attention, and pretend to be “trans” to get it. Soon all these gay dudes who would of just been flamboyant campy gays will end up detransitioning. Just watch. It’s already begun.

This was the argument that made me realize that the trans argument went against women’s rights. Harvard University and other birth/female focused healthcare providers and charities have started using birthing bodies, bleeders, and cervix havers for women during panels, posts, information packets, and activism regarding pregnancy and birth. That’s incredibly dehumanizing. The realities of women’s lives must be able to be spoken in the public square. I asked them as a group so she didnt feel singled out but it was bc she was much larger than the other girls her age and was playing *VERY* rough, tackling them, jumping on their backs etc. now mind you, the boys were wrestling around but the girls were not. she was the only kid in the girl group that was rough housing at all so it was very clear she was behaving more like the boys. and ultimately I had to single her out bc she ended up hurting one of the girls, making her cry and I had to call the hurt girls mom to come get her bc her arm was a bit swollen. point is.... the athletes that are trans should not be allowed to be in that group to compete with.. they just shouldn't. its not about them personally it is about biology and fairness.

Problem we've reached with the sports side of things is that we've simultaneously reached a level where a lot of countries at once declare : 1) Women are as capable as men in *everything*. Some women are extremely physically capable, but this shouldn't be treated as a rule. This means skeptics to feminist views lose any sympathy for women being beaten at their sports, while those that do follow said views, well, can't get out of this one without sounding as hypocrites. 2) Transwomen are women. Except for the fact we do need to discuss the sports issue, this is not a bad thing. 3) A lot of states have very lax situation on who is considered a transwoman (and thus a woman) due to the 'self-identification' wave. Combine those three and really, what else can be expected but transwomen dominating women's sports?

Gay rights took DECADES to get to this point. No one was ever forced into accepting them, it just happened over time. From what I see, from the outside looking in, is that Trans rights activists want complete acceptance and sometimes complete obedience when they have only been about for a very short period of time. Before Transsexuals was just thought to be a different type of homosexuality, or sadly, sometimes some sort of fetish. There isn't even enough scientific knowledge to properly classify Transsexualism and any research is attacked by the very community that it would help. They want to transition so they can just be a regular person, just as the other gender. But trans activists advocate for normalisation and more, and the more is the problem. They often push too far or too hard which lifts trans people onto a podium, and there's this weird worship attitude towards trans people and trans issues. Trans activism creates this really weird, pseudo-religion. Even pushing for blasphemy laws. It's the same problem with woke culture in general, if you look for (insert)-ism, you'll find it. And instead of responding to reality with reason or nuance, or social contract understanding. They hard-line attack narratives that don't conform to their hyper-idealised perception.

Not going around saying if you have a different belief you are a bigot. It makes people feel attacked and not want to accept anything. Being called a TERF and worse for trying to argue that I respect trans women’s pronouns and name and identity but isn’t sexually attached to them as a lesbian, is REALLY turning me off from the trans community atm.
@pineberry75863 жыл бұрын
As a trans girl myself, I think its bs that people say, “date trans people or youre a bigot”, somebody’s biological sex is what plays a major role in attraction. Yes, it is upsetting for us trans women to be rejected as a potential partner by straight men/lesbians just for being trans but thats simply a fact of life us trans people have to deal with. For a trans person to go on about why not dating/having sex with them is bigoted really is stupid and not really different from a “nice guy” going on a rant about why women dont have the right to say no to him. Also, you are NOT a TERF. If you respect trans people and their identities, then you are just a lesbian who likes biological women. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Same it’s super frustrating. It seems like now in wlw spaces lesbians are always having to explain why they don’t want to sleep/be with a trans woman. Isn’t respect a human right? The right to be not murdered by men who murder cis women as well? The right to not be abandoned by their families and support systems for being honest with themselves? It’s about time they demand it. At least gay men and butches always had validity, so they could ask politely for respect, but that luxury isn’t afforded to trans people.
@jayden51632 жыл бұрын
@@beatrixlozach4840 @Beatrix Lozach the thing I feel is no one cares if your trans. No one cares if you want to identify as a woman or man. What you are not getting is the trans community is separating themselves so much its hard to respect them. Being a lesbian or gay can also have family disown you its not just the trans community. But we know we cant just make people respect us. You can't force someone to accept your trans or gay. That's their beliefs and opinions. I'm gonna be real with you. The trans community gets crowned the most because yall aren't realistic. I've met 1 wonderful trans person before. Out of the many I've seen or talked to. I'm a woman and I have absolutely nothing against transwomen. I agree with you about sports and certainly about detransitionners and how the society must be careful with kids! My son is 4 years old, long hair (don't touch, he adores his hair), likes pink and colouring his nails but he never never said that's he is a girl, he's a boy and I was a "tomboy" and never said that I was a boy or a man! @@GLoLChibs no one is saying being trans is a choice but every person can choose when and if they want to present as male, female or something else entirely. That’s why I advocate for non-binary Identities to be acceptable among the tans community. It gives young people a place holder before they feel the need to make drastic live changes. If non binary acceptance had existed when I was in middle school it would have made my adolescences so much easier. Lucky for me non binary identity had gained a foothold on the internet just enough to where I was able to except myself and not feel the need to transition as an adult. If you are truly worried about kids transitioning to early then you understand the need for broader gender classifications.

My trans friends in real life just want to live their lives and interacting with them isn’t difficult at all but I feel every time I turn around now there’s a new person on til til telling me I’m a even bigot because I’m not aware of some new “thing.” I remember as a gay man no one put much thought into labels, and for complicated situations you can just use queer … now it’s to the point I avoid a certain subset of my own community I actually feel mocked because they’ve became over the top caricatures who think they’re activist.
