Some people, unfortunately like the ones in my family, are quick to tell you when you've gained weight, but will never tell you when they've noticed you lost weight. A lot of people are jealous of your success and would rather see you fail and be miserable like them, so we definitely need to love ourselves and not worry about what other people say or don't say. Taking pictures and measurements is one of the best ways to do this and just stay the course!

Aint that the truth! I lost 3 stone to get to a healthy weight and NO WAY could folks fail to see the difference - but not one of my friends - no one -- said anything. 🤷🏼♀️ I was frustrated but then thought - well perhaps they feel bad about commenting on my weight - and I feel amazing so who cares! I can relate to this person's comment. I've lost weight years ago, and then slowly put it back on, and no one really noticed. During lockdown and cooking for myself while working from home, I decided to try to cut out sugar and carbs and started doing some research. I've never tried to be clean keto, just stay conscious of how many net carbs are in foods. When I could actually go out with friends again, they were all astounded, as I had lost about 90 pounds. I still get comments from friends that I haven't seen in a while, but I will also add that only 2 people that I work with have said a word. I think people are afraid to comment on a person's weight, thinking it could be rude.

I’ve lost 80 pounds since March and no one had really said anything. For me I kind of think it’s a good thing because when I lost a LOT of weight over a decade ago that was all anyone talked about. It made me very uncomfortable and I was super self conscious. I’m older now and could care less what anyone thinks, but I really get how it can feel frustrating when your hard work goes unnoticed. Also, there are some days I notice my weight loss and other days I feel like I have lost nothing. I still have to lose 120 pounds. It’s a long road but I’m ok with it. I know there is a difference because I feel a lot better physically. I’ll get there. Thanks for always bringing up these important topics, it’s important to consider.

My low carb journey has not been focused on weight loss but on reversing my pre diabetes and prevent me from becoming a full blown diabetic. I knew that weight loss would result, but I saw immediate results within 2 weeks of adopting the low carb lifestyle. I felt better, slept better and I saw clothes fitting better. I continue to lose weight and see the changes every week. I don't care if others don't see the differences in my body....I know what I am doing and I am happy with the direction I am going.

FINALLY I see someone else who doesn't want people noticing/commenting on their weight loss. I have finally figured out my reasons for feeling this way, but still find it uncomfortable. The best advice I have received for responding to people's questions or comments is to: 1. Have a prepared and practiced response. 2. Not feel obligated to respond in any way. 3. Say you don't talk about it. 4. Say you have made some lifestyle changes, not that you are on a diet or doing keto. I have had to use all of those at different times. My issue is I don't want anyone watching my every move, just waiting for me to fail. I know that is my screwed up interpretation of things, but some people do try to sabatoge your success. In the past, I would self-sabatoge as soon as anyone noticed my weightloss. Basically, I wanted to beat them to the sucker punch because I believed I would eventually fail anyway. This time is soooo different. I am NOT on a diet and have no plans of ever going back to the SAD way of eating/living. The isolation from the pandemic has helped me get through the initial stages of weightloss. I started at 200+lbs to lose. I have lost 110 lbs. I am finally seeing the changes myself because I KNOW they are there. The baggy clothes is totally me too. I think mine goes along with not wanting people to notice. I have always wanted people to like me for who I am...not what I look like.

I don't like people commenting on my weight either. In my mind, that's too personal, even if they mean well. Also, to me, it means they are looking at me far too closely. I too wear oversized clothes.

Right here in the boat with you all. I don't like going to social events at the moment bc people are noticing and then want to have a conversation about it... I had a friend who lost a 100 lbs years ago, and I always remember her telling me that mutual friends of ours (I was at least 100 lbs more than I wanted to be) were treating her in a way like she was "in their club now", communicating a whole new level of approval that she'd not experienced from them before. She felt bad, like it revealed their silent judgements of her when she was fatter. I tend not to comment unless my friend does if they lost weight, because I love/like them either way. And losing weight is harder to maintain than to do, hard as doing it is, but when my friend regained her weight she felt additionally shameful about it. I think there's a lot to learn about how deeply harming societal fat shaming is and figure out ways to navigate that.

Great example with a roll of paper towel & it's true at 1st no one notices then BAM everyone starts with the compliments lol. Just keep going. This is my comeback, lost about 70 lbs in 2018 & gained it all back plus😔 When I gained it back I've never felt as bad as I did. I kept trying though, then going off. One night I saw a video yall did & y'all said It doesn't matter how many times you have tried & failed, this time could be the time you succeed! I tried again & prayed & here I am 42 lbs down. I watch y'all every week & y'all have helped tremendously!! This time the difference is I will eat this way for the rest of my life, I couldn't commit to that in 2018 & went right back to sugar & binge eating. Thank y'all for sharing your life ups & downs💗💗

I started a very lazy keto the week before Christmas. It was more if a keto-ish Mediterranean diet at first because I had some healthy but higher carb foods in my house that I wasn't prepared to ditch and buy all new, its me living alone and I just can't afford to replace my whole cupboard.. I have been increasing my fat all along and still trying to keep my carbs as low as possible. Have lost 22 pounds, but not seeing it. Tomorrow is grocery day and I am finally out of all my non keto food. I have some keto staples can't wait to finally plunge fully in. I was 315 at my heaviest and was 196 in December. Now weigh 174 and that's pretty good for me but I qm obviously very out of shape. I don't really have a goal weight I will feel it when I get there. Thank you so much bc I feel very prepared to be fully keto going forward thanks to all your information and encouragement 💗

Another aspect is seeing your mental image. i lost over 70lbs. I went from a Womens size 24 to Misses 18 then 14. I never even considered getting clothes until a skirt almost slipped off, and found I needed an 18. But for a long time, with the exception of my waistline showing again, I "thought" I looked completely the same in the mirror and didn't believe people when they complimented me. Four years in now, I can see myself clearly. Sometimes, it takes more time to change your mental image.

When I lost a bunch of weight several years ago, one friend hesitantly commented on it and was IMMEDIATELY chastised by someone else for it. She said it was rude to mention it because "it makes it sound like you thought she was huge and fat before now." Ummmmmmm.... Another friend asked if I was intending to lose weight and we talked about it, but she was careful to do it while we were alone due to how others police women's bodies and appearance. She said it was simply the least important thing about me to her. People are just strange about these things sometimes. Kudos to anyone who is walking this path.

Again, another useful Keto lifestyle advice video. People need them. For me, I’m 70 and I do Keto because it makes my heart feel better. So weight loss is a by product. But a welcome one. I also find that doing “clean” Keto helps more with the weight loss. Pacifying myself with processed Keto products and any homemade sweet treats, even though it is sugar free, heads me down a slippery slope of wanting more. Keep up the great videos. I, too, am 70 years old. I have been Keto for the last year and a half. I lost 30 pounds and have not lost any more. I wanted to be about 15-20 pounds smaller…but it hasn’t happened. My internist is happy, my cardiologist is happy and my husband says, “You look and act great…so, why can’t you just be happy about how well you have done?” Hmm…maybe because I have been on a diet since I was 12 years old and I don’t know how to live without striving for that new number on the scale. I am trying to learn to be content with where I am and just staying the course with the healthy (for me) way of eating. Hopefully this “old dog” can learn a new trick! Thanks for all of the wonderful videos. I so appreciate all of them and being able to follow your journey.

I've worn steel boned corsets for years, for back support and also for dressing up. My first corset was a size 40 meaning my waist was realistically like 45 inches. I lost some weight and got down to a comfortable 38 completely closed in the back. A few years later, I gained weight back and ordered a size 40 corset for my wedding, as well as 2 others in a 42 for comfort. About 7 months into my keto journey, we went to go to the Renaissance festival. My corsets had such a big size range that it never occurred to me that none of them would fit. I threw the smallest 2 in the duffel bag and we hit the road. Got to the parking lot, husband helped me put corsets on and they were TOO BIG, falling off of me while laced completely closed. My other clothes were all stretchy so I never noticed that I had lost that many inches.

It's when I look in the mirror though that I don't see much difference. The paper towel analogy explains that pretty well. If you unwound the towel you might not see a difference until you put it next to a full roll to compare. So, photos all the way!!!!

Then it really started showing. At 60 pounds everyone notices. I have had to completely revamp my wardrobe. I am not sure if I am done or not, decided to let my body get used to this weight but I think I want to be 140 or even 139 just to be in the 130's!! Goodwill and other thrift stores have been great! A lot of people are cleaning out their closets during Covid, so thrift stores have way more merchandise than regular stores. So much cheaper too, so you can afford to go spend $100 on clothes in your mid-sizes. Started at size 16, down to size 8 or even 6 sometimes. Wow. BTW twins, I am also from Chicago suburbs. First I want to thank the both of you for talking honestly about your weight loss. It is refreshing to find real folks on youtube. I love your cooking videos and how honest you are when testing recipes. I have lost 90 lbs and have kept it off now for over a year. It wasn't until I lost 60 lbs that people really started to take notice. It was even hard for me to see. I started out at 238 lbs and wearing 2x and 3x tops and size 44 and 46 in my work jeans . I retired and moved back to my hometown when I was at 190. A few people who hadn't seen me in a long time noticed, but when I got to 160, everyone seemed to notice. It was at 148 when I had to go down to a size 8 to get jeans that fit (which I had never worn in my whole adult life) that I could finally see myself differently. It still surprises me today when I look in the mirror expecting to see "big me" and this thin person is looking back at me.

Once I loose the 10 last pounds I will try carb cycling and stay at max 20 grams of carbs and continue to fast . As I lost weight I adjusted my calories and other macros. I exercised on fasted state . Control insulin and cortisol . Low carbs to control insulin a fat storing hormone and walking 2 hrs per day to calm me and control cortisol also fat store hormone . used that time to pray. Also the apple cider vinegar with the mother diluted in water sipped by straw lowered my blood sugar . Also chromium supplements before a meal .

No one really noticed except people who were close to me that I was losing weight for the first 30lbs. When I got down 40lbs though everyone started saying something. I couldn't see it myself except in pictures, I just about hit the floor when I saw what I looked like! I also had that disconnect, where I was so used to being bigger that I bought bigger clothes. Now I can fit into a small, but I still have trouble thinking that I'm a small lol

I've lost 20 lbs to get to a healthy range BMI score. My husband could tell i was losing before I could see it. Now I especially see it in my face and my measurements. But, other than my hubby no one has commented on my weight loss. But it's all good, because I feel great!

I have lost about 25 lbs and have another 20 to lose to get to my ideal weight. I was so excited to show off my weight loss to my family when I saw them after a year and they all told me that I shouldn't be trying to lose anymore weight. It's a bit discouraging but I know I will be better off by losing that last 20 pounds and finally getting a flat stomach.

This was a great video. I recently have figured this out. I have lost 25 pounds, but I was still looking for clothing or sewing patterns in XL. Then my friend gave me a bunch of t-shirts from Banana Republic, Izod, Ralph Lauren, etc. They all fit, but they’re all Mediums.

Agree 100% about getting even just one pair of new pants. We’re so often on autopilot-reaching for the same pair of jeans every day-that you don’t even notice when they stop fitting. Then one you try on a pair that FITS and you see the difference instantly. You can do this experiment in the changing room and not even buy it if you don’t want to spend the $$. But I expect most people will be so delighted by how much better the new pair fits that they likely will take it to the cash register. I think it’s important to treat yourself well even during the middle of the journey.

You are making some great points. I recently realized I am back in a smaller size. I don’t really see a difference when I look at myself so getting the concrete confirmation from clothes really helps. This is my do-over with keto after gaining back weight. Previous to this I had lost 110 pounds but still just felt fat. Then one day I put on a t-shirt I could barely wear before. It was loose. I looked myself in the mirror and realized I was a whole different person. So sometimes it takes forever to really see yourself and your changes.

Your advice about clothes is so accurate. It’s important to wear clothes that fit well so you look good and feel good no matter what size. I realized how different I looked when my husband took my hand, brought me to a mirror, made me look in the mirror, and said “look how amazing you look; you look skinny”. Well I don’t look skinny but compared to what I looked like before I look skinny.

Thank you for your great videos. You are speaking of the REAL positives and negatives we are all thinking about. I began keto in September 2020 a few weeks after I retired at 69 years old. I’ve lost 57 pounds and am within 10-15 pounds of my goal weight. I feel FABULOUS - increased energy, reversed sleep apnea and I actually like the way I look. I agree with your comments. Buy smaller clothes often- then you will SEE your progress. Thanks very much for your videos ladies. Janice from Vancouver Canada

I didn’t measure myself, I didn’t take pictures and I don’t even own a scale. I only know my weight by my doctors scale. I went 8/10/21 and my doctor told me if I lose 10 lbs I’d feel better so I started eating better and eventually found keto, my next doctor appointment on 9/25/21 I’d lost the 10 lbs. I’ve continued on my eating lifestyle and I know I’ve lost more because of my clothes and the size I now buy. I’m just going to continue with this eating lifestyle and my body will adjust to what it wants to.

After losing 17 pounds, it took me six months by the way, I'm 67, female and have hypothyroid and heart palpitations but after losing 17 pounds it wasn't so much that I looked different but, one day I just suddenly noticed how baggy my jeans were and yes I tried a smaller-size. woohoo! Even the smaller size was just maybe a hair too big so I tried one that was just one more size down. Those were just a little too snug so I settled for the one that was only one size down. For now. I do a combination of clean and dirty keto. Pretty much whatever I can afford, but I also do intermittent fasting. sometimes it omad and sometimes 2mad. A lot of people think I'm doing it just to be skinny. Skinny has nothing to do with it. Like I said I'm 67. I'm doing it for myself. To feel better. To be healthier. And I love it! By the way I love chaffles and I've played with all kinds of different recipes and combinations! Gotta do what works for me. 💛😉💛🦋💛 And that includes watching, AKA addicted to, your Channel! LOL

Stay the course, they admit this to us now. One friend looked at church directory and saw our photo and that's when she said "I was shocked at how much you've lost" husband lost 115 and I've lost 50. 3 1/2 years still staying strong! And health on the inside counts!!!! All our numbers aren't just looks. We love our numbers, both are important! Thank you for sharing your journey. You inspire us!!!

I still look in the mirror after my 40 lb weight loss and I'm shocked every time (and loving who I see now :). That is so motivating! You gals are right again that a few new smaller sized clothes really go a long way in helping you see your transformation. Those transitional clothes have now been passed on to my sister, who has lost 25 lbs so far, so nothing was wasted (yay).

Yup, when I was close to 100 lbs overweight, I would lose some, 20-25 at times and was so discouraged that it didn't change me much at all. Being 5'9" didn't help to show weight loss. Plus I had that big 100 number in my head. Back then the best advice was low call, low fat and that never lasted. I often felt hopeless. The last 25 I lost REALLY shows, so don't give up.

You made a good point here. There was a time when I met a friend after a long time and I was about to say, "You look so slim", but I stopped myself an said "You look great" instead knowing that the weight loss could have been a side effect of an illness or something unwanted in general. Empathy is key.
@lovingitonketo3 жыл бұрын
I found that you need to measure yourself semi often, and the reason for this is because if you're wearing the same clothing that you were wearing before you lost weight you will not look that much different. You need to keep up with the inches lost over the weight loss to show a difference. I thought that the tolet paper visual was a great explanation for typical weight loss. Great Vedio.

By the time I lost 35 pounds, people started noticing. I knew I needed smaller clothing, but I didn’t feel that much smaller. I’ve lost 45 pounds this year, 65 pounds since 4 years ago. The pictures tell it all. I don’t even look like the same person. I have 10 more pounds to go.

It makes sense about the paper towel roll. I'm down 50 lbs from last summer and only one coworker has said anything. I think people feel awkward bringing it up and one of our vendors who did say I looked thinner did ask me if I was trying to lose weight, acknowledging that it could be because of illness. Weight and body image are funny things. Other people may have their own baggage. The bottom line is that it is beneficial to get healthy, we are all different and though it is nice to have some support and acknowledgment of our hard work, ultimately it depends on oneself to do the work and reap the rewards. Loving this channel and all the positive comments from the followers. Congrats to everyone here who is applying what they learn in their life.

Hi, ladies! Thank you for another fabulous video! I think most people refrain from commenting on weight loss out of kindness. They don't know the reason behind the loss, and if it was intentional loss, they don't want to say anything to derail your journey.

I always wore loose baggy scrubs at work. Once I lost 30 lbs I had to buy new scrubs. I bought a size smaller but also a more flattering cut. Thats when everyone noticed and commented on my weight loss. With jeans I had to start wearing a belt so I went and got new jeans 2 sizes smaller. That was a confidence booster right there. I still have more to lose but the better fitting clothing also helps me know if I am gaining after a cheat binge.

I can attest to both sides of this. I've lost 75 lbs and I've had a couple of people say something about it. And I've seen people who look like they've lost weight and if I say something, I'm afraid that they haven't and then they'll start with self loathing comments about their selves. And I've been that person as well. It's like when someone ask a woman how far along they are being pregnant, and their not pregnant.😪

There are days I still feel like I look the same after loosing 110+ pounds..just a smaller version. I know exercise isn't your thing (but it is entertaining), however, it has helped chang the shape of my body. I'd say it was 50 pounds before I could honestly say I saw a difference. I LOVE the paper towel analogy. Never heard that before and it makes so much sense. Yes the why people quit keto was a great video. I just recently got rid of almost 200 items of clothing. I won't ever need to wear them again. Mental Health plays a big part of weight gain and can be changed to help weight loss. Another wonderful video. Have a great weekend. 😊🧡

Spot on!! After having my first, it was about half way to my pre baby weight that people started noticing and commenting. Although being at a normal weight before and struggling with my relationship with food in my early years, I almost have learned to find joy and success within myself and not rely on people's comments. It was a really really hard lesson to learn but now my happiness and health carry more value than someone calling me "skinny" (which was detrimental in the past). it's such a weird psychological spiral of a journey.

I did not notice my weight loss until I had to take a physical for life insurance. And then recently I went for a follow up appointment for my diabetes and I had lost more weight. My doctor actually took one of my diabetes medication away and reduced the dosage of one of the other diabetes medication. I was taking 3 different medications for it. He also told me to stop my cholesterol medication. So it does take time to notice that you have lost weight and inches. I have tried on brand new clothes that I have had for years for motivation and they are actually big on me. So don’t give up on your weight loss journey even if you don’t notice it.

I'm listening to what yall said for the second time, honestly I'm having a really hard time seeing that I've lost weight. I used to wear 18/20 in jeans I'm now in 10. I think. Kinda. They are now actually too big and constantly fall now. So I don't know. As far as people noticing everyone has noticed. I live in a very small rural town at first people were scared for me and asked if I was sick or on drugs and did I need help. I obviously had to say I'm eating keto! Less than 700 people here and now every last one of them knows what keto is about. I'm a private keep to myself kind of person when it comes to weight loss. Just self conscious I guess. You saying go to a thrift store to try on clothes is a good idea. I'm still wearing my same shirts and seriously just truly realized yesterday that I need new ones. My neighbors grandkids both climbed up my shirt with me and there was still room lol
