This resonates a lot with me. And i’m totally with you on the school thing - they don’t want you to bet on yourself because the school system wants a nation of workers, not a nation of thinkers.

This can’t be coincidence. You speak right to the core my friend! This is the first video I saw in a loooong time! And I just felt like you were talking to me directly, ESPECIALLY when you said do that competition you wanted to do. You see, I’ve been bullied when I was younger and missed the love of my surroundings at the time, so I created a coping mechanism to avoid challenges, luckily for me I became aware of it, and learned things about myself and psychology. But this is not enough. Real grow requires action, real actual experience. Betting on ourselves and doing it is the only way how we can change the way how we are wired no matter how big the challenge. So I started kickboxing a long time ago, and now I was asked to do a competition fight. I immediately felt resistance, very strong resistance, so I knew this is a chance to grow, no matter if I win or loose the fight. But that feeling of resistance continued, I started to get frustrated, and wanted to push that feeling away by forcing myself to say yes and just sign up for the fight. But I know this is not the way. Of course I should sign up for it, but I have to see and understand that part in myself that has this resistance, it’s that little me in myself that is scared to go out, it’s that little me that sees danger in all things, it’s that little me that has taught itself to flee and avoid for safety. But here I am, an adult man, although that little me is still roaming inside myself, I am not only that part, I am also the adult self, that has the ability to change and grow. And there is another thing that I can do right now. That is giving myself love and understanding. I understand that I am afraid, i want to say to that scared kid in myself that i love you so much, i will hold your hand and together we will go through this, i can trust myself and stand on my feet. I will sign up for this fight, because i am betting on myself.

I may have inspired you based on my video, but your comment has made my entire week brother. I want you to understand how brave you’re for digging that deep in yourself to find the root of your hesitation in life. Most of us go through life blaming everything on “coincidences,” while our subconscious mind continues to control us without us ever realizing it; so the fact that you were able to unpack that & bring it to the surface tells me that you have already won your first kickboxing match. It’s going to be a journey, but remember to keep on being gentle with yourself like you have been doing, & I want some updates on where you’re at in the future man. This came out the day that I quit my marketing/graphic design job to 1. Take a career pause for my health and 2. Eventually pursue freelance design work. Funny how the timing works out sometimes. Doing my best to "bet on myself" and trust God!
