First draft of Black Superman 2025: As Black Superman rolled up to the Fortress of Solitude he couldn't help but glance out at the beautiful mosaic around him. The streets of Compton, bathed in the warm hues of the California sun, were peaceful. Almost as though a hurricane had blown through and swept all of the debris from the streets. Black Superman, turned off his awesome mixtape, From Krypton to Compton, and honed his ears to every little sound around him. Beyond the purr of his decked out Mercedes convertible, he could hear the rapid beating of a thousand hearts and quiet whimpers, barely suppressed before hands clasped on throats like chains. In Superman's mind, the images that his father's hologram had shown him sprang into view like a flashbang, of slaves in cargo holds, cramped together in fear and bound so as not to speak except for words forced from their mouths by cruel masters. With his x-ray vision he saw the neighborhood cowering in their homes with hands on their heads. Then he heard it. *Whisp.... whisp* A rhythmic sound like a shuffling man. *Whisp whisp* *clop clop* Louder this time, along with a couple footfalls *Whisp whisp, clop clop* The noise began to speed up as did the sound of feet. As it drew nearer the noises sped up. *Whisp whisp, clop clop, whisp whisp whisp" Soon the whisps and footfalls fell out of order as they kicked up a dust storm just ahead of Superman's car. Superman honed his vision on the cloud as the lone figure approached. For a moment Superman gasped as his vision gave him clear sight. In a black suit and tie was the lumbering figure of a bizarre humanoid, bright red skin with black, beady eyes. Two antennae wobbled about on its round head around of forest of graying, curly hair as two large red claws tightly clutched a wooden broom as it swept the street ahead of it. It couldn't be but it was! Superman switched off his motor as he stepped out of his vehicle to confront the figure. With a powerful voice he commanded the figure to stop and extended an accusatory finger at him. Black Superman: "From Krypton to Compton my people have come. Through the indecency of the master's whip to the humiliation of an entire nation we have struggled. And yet here we are, the survivors of a begotten race, long treated as the dirt of the Earth, we will rise. For you may kick us in the dirt, but that is where we are from. It is where our ancestors have been buried and from there it is where we draw their strength. And with every blow, with every fortuitous and pernicious lie we bend and brake but we do not yield, no we do not yield. We fight for our lives, for the black record that we carry, of shame and indignation is our passport to eternity. Our pain, our struggle is now the voice of dignity, struggling out of chained throats, with knees on our necks. They shall not deny us our legacy, for we were Kings. No, I stand and I will resist! I will fight till my days grow dark. But never will you conquer my spirit." At this, Lobster-Zod halted his brushing and grinned a toothy grin from ear to ear. "These are my streets now Superman, and I aim to keep them clean, bucko..." Zod: "You've messed up the wrong room, bucko..."

One of the most painful things I've had to endure as a quasi-professional comic book writer is watch as people like this get writing jobs for places like Marvel. I've tried for years, trying to make a point as one of the communities they're trying to target, I don't feel represented or seen by these people, I feel at best exploited, at worst insulted. They want gay writers, but not ones like me. People who don't want to treat their audiences like idiots, who don't define characters solely by their sexuality, race, etc. or don't have to inject politics that are no less subtle and obnoxious as a jackhammer on glass. Meanwhile my colleague gets a job there. What I wouldn't give just for a chance...Hell just for a meeting to give them a piece of my mind. How I don't need Spider-man to be gay for me to like or relate to him, how you can blame a lot of things on racism, sexism, etc. but poor writing, characters and legitimate criticisms are not some of them. How if they did their jobs right, people will always find something to like about their characters regardless of what communities they belong to or identify with or that they don't have to rely on buzz words and echo chambers for those seeking political validation. It speaks volumes when I can I can show more love for a character as hideous and theoretically unlikeable as Beak than some of their newer characters. I'm not going to say diversity is the problem. Although it's the highest we've ever seen it, if people are actively defending things like CW's Batwoman then they need better characters, writers and stories. They deserve representation that isn't treated like a gimmick to promote writers and characters and end at their race, sexuality, etc. Inclusivity made to bring people together over their favorite characters and stories, etc. I'm also not going to say, there's no place for themes such as racism and the like, but they should be used more wisely, to good effect and with more respect than some writer's shallow political mouthpiece. Sometimes I wonder if I'm an anomaly. A writer with some kind of integrity. I wonder if there's a place for people like me who rather explore science, technology and the interesting stories that come with the questions I've had to ask as a biologist. If there's a place for a gay character whose sexuality isn't their focal point. Or just someone who believes that there's a kind of magic in comic books and that countless bridges can be built when people bond over them. For me I always said I wanted to come from a place of love, not hatred, which it seems a lot of people at the big two seem to depend on these days to pay their bills, deflect criticism and fill out stories with nothing better to dole out.

@ssharp7553 жыл бұрын
Meh, lets go into this a bit more. Jordan Peterson has stated that he has had many consultations with female professionals (not 'patients' but 'customers') where he has worked with them to further their career's by being more assertive about asking for higher wages etc. Seperately he has also stated that while consulting with various high end law firms etc, he has been made aware that said firms have specific difficulty with retaining said high achieving female personnel. He has posited that this may be due to said people, when achieving success, then looking around and deciding that their career is not the source from which they ultimately decide they will garner the most satisfaction in their lives and that this appears to have a gender bias. Wether that is because women have an innate biological drive which may prompt them more heavily than men to gravitate towards said choice, or if (because studies have shown a tendancy to choose partners of similar or higher status/economic capacity and , when partnering up in this bracket they thus have greater ability to choose not to work and focus their attention on the family aspect of their lives is open to debate of course, but to my knowledge he has NEVER stated that women are as a demographic not happy having a career, nor has he suggested 'patients' (with your wording deliberately framing these people as persons in his care rather than people contracting his services to advance their own interests) have told him so.... that is entirely your own bias talking.
