To be fair, in some regions in China you would go to a Buddhist temple and ask for what names would be considered lucky based off when the baby is to be born. Some will also take into consideration their birth order in the family. People usually ask the family elders, but in case they're not around this is a known practice. I was actually interested in this because of this comment so I’ve spent the past 30 minutes or so. “Brig” is originally a surname that people believe to have either Celtic or Scandinavian origins. The Celtic origin is believed to be derived from the word “Brigh” which apparently means “high” or “noble”. The Nordic origin is apparently short for the names “Brigitte” or “Brigatta” both of which have something to with strength apparently.

Funny this was always an industry in East Asian culture. Many parents want very meaningful and special names drawn from historical context and old books like Confucianism books. Basically thinking of wanting to make your child's name a comic book reference, but instead of comic books it's the entire history/culture of China or Korea. And instead of asking comic geeks you would ask people with very vast knowledge of words and character usage in ancient text and how they fit as names. There's also the (clearly superstitious) belief that your name will influence the luckiness in your life, so things like feng shui and the 5 elements are also considered.
