This works well on low mobility melee champs like Nasus, Sett and Malphite I'm sure. But try this against an Ahri, LB or Ezreal it's not that guaranteed.

Indeed, zilean goal is not to CC the baseline :) like ahri and ezreal, any mages or adc Zilean is great to pick when they have many melee, thus, you want to help your team to kite them. OR you can pick zilean when you have fighters /assassins that really benefits from your movespeed buff (hecarim, Lilia, Vladimir, Yone, Gwen, cassio,...) Zilean usually struggles into high range so, i understand why you mentionned ezreal and ahri ! 🤧 However he has success against some assassins. As assassins goal is to OS one carry or 2, u just press R as zilean so they doen't die. Leblanc is definitely not a problem as she can only delete one target (that is full HP) with one combo. But Zil struggles more into assassins that can deleted MANY carries in few seconds... (Qiyana, Vladimir, diana)

I play crown or everfrost zilean with banshee, zhonyas, GA, cosmic drive, and ionian boots in urf and it's hella fun af. You don't die easily and still be fast af cause of the speed boost from 3rd and cosmic so they can't really touch you if you play him properly in urf and it's so much fun

It doesnt matter reqlly if you get the stun off. Just play zil supp and max e first. Get a shurelyas and boost your adc back to lane. And then run the enemy down. If you get enough haste and max e and w you can outslow the nasus slow to the point he cant reach anyone, then just let your team burst them down. Its especially great if you have string champs that struggle staying on top of someone. And if you just want to have some fun. Quinn ult with zil max e and shurelyas gives her 1100 ms. So try outrunning that

This does work, however I do not recommend it because everyone on the enemy team will act like teammates and come together just to kill you a hundred times. It's funny for a while, but just make sure you can get away in time.

You don't need that much ability haste. You can reactivate W a second before throwing the second Q in order tooffset the difference needed for the bomb to explode. I.e. QW (wait 1s) QW (wait 1s) rinse and repeat. And ofc you can E in the meantime as well. But this combo is easily done without needing anything more than standard CDR you get from runes and your mythic.
