I think the reason you can't shoot diagonally is because the tear is being constantly updated with additional tear damage and it messes up the added velocity from your movement calculation when you fire.

Cool concept, so now,what if - instead of reducing the amount of tears, the damage over all gets reduced massively, but tge tears stay in their original amount AND damage is adding up with every tear that's being shot while tear X is still in the air (vision of very small tear, followed by a medium-sized tear and a large tear that's about to hit the enemy)

Hmm, this item seems kinda... bad? Like, it works well with conjoined, but otherwise, it works badly with any tear effects, works badly when dealing with lots of small enemies, and works badly against fast enemies without any significant benefit.

Just piercing doesn't provide any advantage (like, having the big tear pierce isn't any better than just having the base tears pierce). You're right that piercing + eye of the occult could be really strong, but it's very niche.
