For weapon pairings I find a wave frame GL to be particularly good with this build. I have an Envious/Destabilizing Rounds roll on a Harsh Language that is my current favorite. Nuking the enemies around the tangle, applying volatile to any that survive, and then having Steve the Strand buddy beyblade any of THOSE survivors is hella fun. I think there is a strong case to be made for using Spiderface exotic helm and Grapple grenades- at least in the seasonal content. There are a ton of slowing effects, from the Hive wizards to modifiers where melee hits slow you. The arenas have a lot of verticality as well, and time limits to complete challenges. In my limited play so far I have found that being able to get woven mail from behind cover by just doing grappel/cancel, do some damage, GTFO by grappling out, landing a flying fist into the face of a wizard standing by a crystal to one shot them, make a tangle, and refresh my woven mail … well it’s pretty great. Going to be amazing experimenting with all of your new builds this season!

So personally I think the Thread of Transmutation is a little redundant. Sever and Unravel will turn targets into a tangle which you're going to be doing all the time with your melee and the maelstrom. Personally I went with Thread of Isolation to sever targets on rapid precision as it'll allow any of my weapons to create tangles as long as I sever them via precision hits. Also worth noting that you can also grapple to your maelstrom, which also unravels with the follow-up melee attack. Been using this with a Collective Action weapon as the grapple melee will throw you in pick-up range of a tangle anyways allowing an easy proc of CA. That plus the new Foetracers, I've been using it with the new seasons hand cannon and it does quite well in PvE with it having a few dominating moments in PvP.

I feel like with the new aspect and the exotic gauntlets that convert your grenades in to seeking moths, strand hunter feels more like a summoning class. You got your decoy which then turns to threadlings, then the strand buddy and now the moths paired with the season pass grenade launcher.

you can use the helmet that gives woven when you use grapple. because the tangle tornado still counts as tangle so you can chain woven, also suspend and thread of generation got nerfed so this is not a troll this is a great choice. even if you cant grapple melee enemies in gms you can at least escape or go to res your mate

Broooo very glad to see videos from you again - love your builds. Saw this one on mobalytics earlier today and realised by coincidence i put together an almost identical one last night whilst playing with the new aspect. I went strand surge mods instead, but have swapped these out in favour of spending my armour charge on utility kickstart instead, as per your recommendation. I had so much fun playing with it though. Survivability is great now that the TS has been buffed, and the little strand tornados are awesome!

Honestly if you don’t need as much survivability you can switch specter for widows silk, and a grapple nade, the rate in which you make tangles is INSANE plus your ability uptime is freaking nuts

I have been stuck with my malfeasance build since the start of S22, but right now malfeasance is able to hit almost 2 million damage in 5 seconds with lucky pants and the catalyst. But I have a build similar to this, same fragments and aspects but being able to put out the best DPS in the game currently with overload HC and tons of shackle suspends, not being targeted, and unravel tangled.

I'll have to try this, was running around last night with Radiant Dance machines and instead of the Sixth Coyote. The extra dodges are really only good with the melee refresh and if you miss the timing, then you are on cooldown.

Wouldn’t grapple be a real solid choice as well since you can grapple melee which melts people and then dodge away? This would leave a tangle, a clone, and refill your melee depending on which dodge you have ultimately giving an additional melee attack and a tangle

Tried the build out and this is just insanely fun, especially if you have the Navigator since it's just free Woven Mail for yourself! Is it great for having fun and adclearing in PvE? Absolutely. Is it good in high end content? Honestly yeah, I can see it work. Is this build overlooked? IMMENSLY.

Whirling maelstrom is fucking legit…. I’ve been using it with the tried and true assassins cowl grapple melee build which works better then ever since they finally fixed the melee on it but adding these new tangle unraveling bombs is so much fun. You can also grappled to them so when they’re whirling around killing shit you can swing over to them for free and punch whatever is getting unraveled.

all i want to say is this isnt the first unravel hunter build. last season there was a mod that gave you unraveling when you have woven mail and using that along with cryptarachnes (if i spelt that damn helmet right) made for a pretty strong unravel build with constant woven mail. unfortunately with that mod gone this will be a new great replacement cause ive also been looking for a way to use the new aspect.
