Not to mention kind of a dipshit blinded by his own ego. Renfield has been dealing with it for so long that he often doesn't recognize this man ISN'T an all-powerful mastermind. Powerful yes, capable of reason and strategy and retaliation certainly, BUT HE IS FALLIBLE. With a good reality check and the right support, Renfield realizes that he's not that much different than Dracula in terms of power and intellect, so with enough thought and care the bastard could be outmaneuvered and taken down. Delightfully schlocky movie, W message.

It had a lot of potential, but most of it was wasted. Boring, meandering and predictable plot, annoying, unnecessary secondary characters, irritating "wannabe Deadpool"-style writing. The action scenes were cool but belonged to a different movie. It's a shame, because the basic concept (the Dracula/Renfield relationship being updated to represent modern-day co-dependence and abuse) was really interesting, and in the hands of a more focused, dialogue-oriented writer/director might've actually been good. But what we got instead was "forgettable Deadpool ripoff with no central story and a tacked-on theme" starring a predictably excellent (now he's back on his A-game) but woefully underused Nic Cage.

Ethan Hawke gave the best praise to Nick Cage anyone will ever do. His description of all actors trying to become Marlone Brando by following the method acting bue print. But Nick is a throwback to a time when actors used only instincts based on the first reaction to a character. In Mandy Nick was originally cast as the villain. Panos talked about Nick coming to him and letting him know he was more connected to the lead role. Panos talked about how any other actor it would be an ego move, but with Nick, he truly believed in his instincts. Also the fact that Nick claimed his first instinct torwards playing H.I. in raising Arizona was woody wood pecker. He fully channeled Woody Wood Pecker while going so far as to have a Woody tatoo on his arm. Flawless decision that only Nick Cage could bring to a performance.

Note about Renfield from the Dracula novel, he is hella strong. I forget if the bugs actually make him stronger or if he just believes they do because Renfield is also hella insane, like when we first are introduced to him he's a patient in an insane asylum. I think those aspects of Renfield work well for his character in the context of the book, but in the context of the film where he's doing what Dracula envisions him to do and having a big story around it, just has a hard time working out and making him a relatable character while also making it a comedy, because you just feel straight bad for him in the book. It kind of feels like if they went and made and actual 'Simple Jack' movie

Nic Cage is an adherent of German Expressionism, a style utilized by Max Schreck in F.W. Murnau's "Nosferatu which was based on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Now, Nic Cage finally gets his chance to utilize all of his German Expressionism training to portray Dracula. The Nic Cage Ouroboros is now complete.

I'm a fan of Bill Skarsgard and am interested to see what he will do with the character (hopefully not just turn it into a Pennywise clone), but I think it would have been so interesting to see Cage cast as Count Orlock in Robert Eggers' upcoming Nosferatu remake. Either him or have Willem Dafoe (who as I understand is in the movie anyway) reprise the role from Shadow of the Vampire...

I just saw it and thought it was pretty good. I was surprised how serious Nick cage was in his role. He felt like he was channeling bram stoker's dracula a lot. I loved it. Nic Cage was great and yeah i agree the action stuff wasn’t really necessary, especially the slow mo shit lol but for its flaws i enjoyed it.

6,5 out of 10 is the best score to give this movie. Watchable, decently fun but insanely forgettable. theres nothing great about it but nothing too bad. Always a pleasure to see Ben Schwartz in more movies (not kidding, i think he brings a good dose of innocent humour to his films, and helps make the "nic cage universe" more believable)

The original 70s version is one of my top 5 favourite movies of all time, and I hate the fact that when most people hear "The Wicker Man" now all they think of is "not the bees". Having said that, I haven't got it in me to really hate the Cage remake, it's just too funny and iconic at this point. I still give it a rewatch out of nostalgia every now and then (nothing ever filmed in the history of cinema will top Nic Cage in a full bear suit running around punching random women in the face, and I think we all just need to accept that).

I can't wait till you deal with the monotony of work and being forced to deal with people who drive you up a wall, remembering to do taxes, all the different type of insurance (person, car, house, life insurance ((if you don't want to put your loved ones in debt with funeral fees)) paying your for your tags, planning doctor's appointments when you work monday-friday and the doctors office has the same hours so you gotta use vaca time or sick time unless you want consequences. Schoolwork is fleeting especially when y'all have AI options to cheat and "get ahead", work for most of us will be for the rest of our lives.

Bryan Cranston. Bryan Cranston has that pull, people will watch things just because he is in it, and rarely does he disappoint. Look at that terrible Godzilla movie where we got bamboozled because he dies 10minutes into the movie yet he was on all the advertising.

I liked "From Dusk till Dawn", I felt like it took the Vampire franchise in a new direction. I remember binge watching some Tarantino directed movies on the same night, and how that movie oddly enough, made perfect sense when watching with other Grindhouse films. They weren't "great", but definitely an entertaining set.

This is a really fair review, I loved the movie and I thought it was a fun time. For me, it was a 5/5, but that is mostly because I enjoyed it a lot, and I'm horrible at being critical when a project has a cast that I really love. It's reviews like this that bring me back down to earth.

As a vampire movie fanatic (who hasn’t seen this movie) I’d say some of my personal favourites are Interview with a vampire, Queen of the damned Maybe stake land for the apocalyptic concept Priest I don’t remember much but it was kinda funny idk why Underworld (the first few before it got silly) Let me in (SO good but the original is better) Day breakers for the concept Nosferatu if I remember Cirque du freak, vampires assistant because it was silly Don’t forget blade THE OG From dusk til dawn (say no less💀) Let the right one in (the Swedish original of ‘let me in’) There’s also a 2010’s British tv show called being human which is just still a rewatch for me. It’s a dramatic take on what their lives are like, focuses on their struggles as they attempt to ‘be human’ in a way that makes them feel in touch with their humanity, it all makes it feel personal tbh I’m actually writing my own stuff inspired by everything, also have an original horror movie/book concept cooking

Nicholas's parts were fine. The movie should have just been him. It was unbearable to sit through. People explode into an orange sunny D like Tang water balloon every minute. It's not even gross it's just stupid. The only character that made me laugh was the guy who leads the help group.
