I know! I like the bay window better than 3 double hung windows. Not only does it make the space look bigger, you have seating which cozies near the fireplace. I wish they would have left the original brick chimney too - it would have added architectural interest to the rooms!

@@sherriianiro747 "Modern" renovations seem to take all the actual character out of homes it seems. I dont understand why people buy historic homes but take out all the actual historic fixtures and want bland HGTV style interiors instead

@@ElstonGunnII I don't either and I see such a lack of appreciation but mostly value - the architectural elements that add character to the house are more expensive for that detailing. Removing them lowers the value of the home.

Usually the fire Marshall does not like I-joists. They are the first thing that collapses in a fire. Better to use standard lumber or MPP. (Mass plywood panels) Made in Oregon. 🙂

Regarding the toilet joist problem: Question, why do you have to build a filler wall? Does the toilet have to be 12 to center in that case? Wouldnt you just end up with extra space behind the toilet?

That's a political problem. Military contractors employ many people in many places, and any cuts will mean political suicide. But to be fair the VA is consistently rated better than private health care by patients.
