I saw sparks between the spark plug cap and the valve cover when you were checking for spark. It asked where it's supposed to and where it's not. It'd be a good idea to clean and inspect it for cracks. Hopefully, it's just dirty. Seen some bikes turn into fireballs because of the plug cap and a fuel leak. Dang easy to get bit when handling the cap on a running engine.

Good vid man Just a tip when your pulling cases together have the bottom case flat and still and facing upwards parellel to other case(make a square wooden stand so the shafts don't touch the floor) so the top case slots down directly over the shafts etc. on a slant like this something could move out of place

I'm not sure how you would check that the two haves fit together but I didn't see what you did to check either. My concern would be that clearance holes for e.g. the crank bearings, might have been align-bored for a matched pair of case halves. The minimum I would have wanted to do would be to check for excess drag from crank or gearbox etc.
@2vintage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I figured if they didn't line up they would have pinched the crank. I tested to make sure crank was smooth and bearings were free from drag. I got pretty lucky with it matching up.

Anybody want to hate take it elsewhere! I've seen Joe fix more stuff in a not so by the book manor, but with his own little twist of how he does things, they come out sweet. And Joe had to clip some footage to shrink the video down so don't go saying he didn't lube shit up when u don't have the slightest clue what he did off camera!!! The motor fired right, the cams were squeeling, or parts knocking around. He works outside on cardboard on the ground so we, and him, have better lighting then inside the dark garage. And about the cases, its all done by computers so I wouldn't worry about it on a motor thats been heated and cooled a million times. If they were both brand new unmatched cases, then I would've fit the together with only dowel pins inside. NO bearings. No crank, no trans, put dowels, match up, and see where the bolts all land, the bolts line up, everything else will line up. My machinist said the banshee is one to worry about. The banshee motor is machined together as a set. All other cases are casted from a mold.

That's bs, factory team cases may be matched but definitely not stock cases. Due to the size and thiness of cases it would be very hard to likely not worth while. Surfacing on a peace of ceramic is ideal if even needed.

Should never mix n match cases many factors cases ARE machied as apair so in a sense matched no mechanic would ever reccomend mixing cases also those bearings would have worn n seated to the crank that was in the engine b4 being stripped it is recomended change them due to every crank espescially used ones have diffrent amount of runout on crank causing premature wear or even failure it isnt worth saving money on beariings rather replace also on the yzf engine should replace the seal that seals oil pump outlet located inside outer case near water pump can cause oil pressure loss has a hard centre seal also really shouldnt have to force case halves back together should be smooth . Anyways i enjoy the vids jut thought this info might help in the future
