It was already mentioned that the original stick was only 4 directions, and the modified red stick was 8. It's strange that he didn't make sure those photos never surfaced. But nobody even knew photos were taken other than the "witnesses" so maybe he thought nobody would ever ask the convention organizers specifically for photos. He probably assumed the rumor that he cheated would eventually fade over time since there was no proof to back it up. Had he not been so defensive over being called a cheater, the rumor probably would have died off, and nobody would have been motivated to dig for proof in the first place.

I had an encounter with Billy back in 2021 after Thanksgiving in Wisconsin. At the Appleton Airport, my flight had been delayed several times over due to bad weather. I saw him walking down the concourse to a vending machine with fresh produce in it, he had his classic black shirt and American Flag tie and I felt compelled to walk up to him and strike a conversation with him. I mentioned; "That tie makes you look like Billy Mitchell" and he replied; "Because I am Billy Mitchell!" I didn't want to create any hostilities between us so I just said; "It's an honor to meet you" and I bought him a water bottle. The funniest part of this entire thing is that when I sat back down, he walked up to me holding a piece of paper. It was a signed autograph of his, the picture was him giving a thumbs up and smiling. After receiving this, I than realized how massive his ego was for him to be walking around and giving random signed mugshots of his to anybody who still a fan of his. I have it sitting in one of my drawers today.
