Would love another F150 regular cab. My first vehicle when I was 16 was a F100 short bed. Been 1993 since I had a regular cab. Look so good in 4x4 and more maneuverable. Miss them

Always like the look of single cab trucks. Its the default image i get for “pick up truck”, when i used to buy parts for dealers service, ive always bought synthetic oil for the guy when any F150 comes in. Thats what they call for i believe.

There are some very valid reasons to get a regular cab such as the wheelbase and breakover angle he mentioned. But I still roll my eyes when people hate on extended and crew cabs because "that's not what a truck is supposed to be". Just as silly as brand feuds IMO. The best thing about trucks is their versatility. You can do anything with them and configure them just the way you want for your needs. Limiting this versatility because someone else doesn't agree with it would be stupid.

It's optional (?) on the Raptor and can be installed on any newer F150. Not exactly cheap but for someone who goes off-road constantly...probably a worthwhile upgrade.

Everyone doesn’t want a crew cab it’s just all you can buy unless you want to order and wait for 3 to 7 months for a truck. I looked and looked for a regular cab Ram1500 and couldn’t find the right one so I ended up with a crew cab warlock now I’m selling it to buy a RCSB F150.

GM does not offer a RCSB Silverado/Sierra in the United States. They build them but for other markets (like Saudi Arabi).

I have a 2018 F150, and I dont care what Ford says, I will never take my oil to10k miles. I change mine around 6K to 7K, and if your worried, send a sample of your used motor oil to Blackstone and have it analyzed.

Love your videos, but thats not a torsen front locker. My 2015 fx4 does the same thing, and it's the Advance Trac doing wheel-braking. A front locker would have engaged all at once, not slowly. Not sure if they really put a front locker in it for him 😬

It is a Torsen. I was there when we installed it. The pictures are on my Instagram @Fabulousoffroaddesigns I thought we were going to demonstrate it two or three times so I did it with light brake pressure in the video. I had planned to fully lock it the next time but we didn't go back through the ruts a second time.

Well I do know that applying brake pressure to an open differential causes power to be directed away from a spinning wheel, so I wasn't sure exactly what you were trying to demonstrate by saying you were going to "help" it lock in. Great video though and a GORGEOUS truck. You never see shortbed regular cabs anymore, so kudos!

@@JimmyLeeTennessee yes but with BTC you need to apply 150 ft/lbs to get 130 ft/lbs to the cross wheel because of internal friction. With a Torsen because of torque multiplication you only need 50 ft/lbs to get the 130 ft/lbs to cross over, and once it is fully locked it will stay locked without the brake until traction is regained.

That depends on what you want to do with it. I have a 2015 crew cab short bed and I love how it’s like half a van and half a truck. I put the dogs in the rear of the cab and Ive yet to run into issues hauling things in the bed even with a truck bed cap. Ive hauled long 2x4’s, sheets of plywood, gear for camping, and it worked well. This truck here is excellent for what he needed, I would have probably gone with the 2.7 Turbski though, to get more range out of it.

Cool truck. Truck a couple things though. Changing to a 10 ply tire does not in anyway increase your payload like he infers here. My 2014 F150 5.0L also had 1700lbs of payload. With 10 ply KO2s I once hauled a 2800lbs load of gravel. The rear suspension was the riding the bump stops the entire time. Also. My own truck never stopped burning oil with synthetic. It would burn a quart towing a couple hundred KM.

You are kind of right for most people's trucks, but this truck has HD suspension and HD sway bar and weighs 4550 lbs and has a 3/4 ton rear axle. It's not almost 6000 lbs with regular suspension like your '14 F-150 and running the standard Super 8.8" rear axle. Ford actually sells them with 4 ply tires to reduce the GVWR from 7850 down to 6400 lbs so their least expensive truck is not their most capable. @@fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 My F150 did not have an 8.8 rear end. It was a max tow equipped 5.0L with the 9.75 rear end. ( still not a 3/4 ton axle don't kid yourself). With 3.73 gearing and the Elocker. It was also an FX4 package. The payload rating was still 1700lbs. Tires won't change that.

@@terrencejones9817 Ford's 9.75" is rated for 5300 lbs. Their other axles are rated for 3800. 3800 front + 5300 rear is 9100 lbs. That is "LEGALLY" a 3/4 ton truck. If they didn't de-rate the axle to 4800 lbs (3800 lbs on my truck) with wheels and tires you would have to pay 3/4 ton registration fees. Also it is Ford's equivalent to the Dana 60 which is a 3/4 ton axle. Don't forget this axle is rated higher then Ford's older 7 lug axle. If your steel bodied truck weighed 1500 lbs less (like this truck does) it would payload 3200 lbs.

@@fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 Axle weight rating isn't the only part of payload limit. Spring pack and the frame comes into play. The FX4 package has soft springs. The truck in the video specifically mentions it has FX4. You can not legally increase your payload rating with tires. End of story.

@@terrencejones9817 sorry but this is just incorrect information. On this truck you can increase it because they only changed the wheels and tires to decrease it. HD package trucks do not have a different frame. Even if they did, the Snow Plow Package trucks would have it anyways. Also FX-4 Package has off road springs and shocks which are medium weight (not soft) but the Snow Plow Package replaces them with HD springs and shocks. And you can actually get your truck re-engineered by Transport Canada and get a new sticker with just wheels and tires if they change the axle capacity. This is the only truck Ford makes that has the HD 9.75" rear axle and low capacity 17" wheels and 4 ply tires.

All the brands are selling what is in demand, and killing what isn't. The other truck makers are doing the same thing. The truck buying public is head over heels with crew cab trucks. Base model trucks and regular cab trucks just aren't being sought after enough for the manufacturers to put much effort into them.

Well these high capacity Snow Plow Package RCSB (SWB) F-150 trucks sold less then 100 units world wide in 2018 and this was the only one with a factory warrantied front Torsen® diff. I'd say that qualifies it for rare.

Well we purposely didn't use momentum. I could have trotted through there with some speed but remember I was the first 1/2 ton to make it in the wet, certainly the first camper/RV to do the trail at all and the only vehicle to do it with 12 gallons of water, a fridge full of food and drinks, and a porta-poti full of chemical and all the gear for a a three week trip. It is much steeper and narrower then it looks on camera, but the really hard part is driving and carrying on a conversation, all while knowing your face is being filmed and if you bash the truck it will be immortalized for ever on KZbin.
