I wonder if that's a nod to the older episodes of Rugrats that left an open minded ending, like the Aliens episode in which it ends with Tommy waking up, making the events seem like a dream, but closes with Angelica, still on Arrakis.

@irkenpony17 3 жыл бұрын
@Gobzo Raon they are saying the episode feels like what the general lost episode themed creepy pasta stories SHOULD feel like, which means done correctly or rather it feels like it's a horror story that CAN happen because it feels "realistic" for what the typical lost episode stories should be like. There way a lot of co fusing stuff there but hopefully one of the sentences gets the picture in some way, since it IS a real episode and is official, and it isn't a creepy pasta. qwq;;;

The moment that will always live on in my memory is when Bean smiled and slowly backed away into the darkness with those glowing eyes. Are Phil and Lil still so wonderfully odd? Does Dill follow in his Stu's footsteps and become an inventor? Did Susie become a famous singer? Is Chuckie still an anxious mess? I guess we'll never know.

@@breonawarren1507 the donner party was a party that was traveling across the country during America's manifest destiny craze (colonizing the west and midwest). The donner party was caught in the mountains during a early winter. They ate all their food and eventually resorted to cannibalism. About half the party survived. It's only reported recently that the native americans in the area tried to help them by giving them food but they were met with gunshots

Chuckie is a nickname for Charles (his dad is Chas, another nickname for Charles) Charles and Carlos are equivalent. So Carlitos makes perfect sense! I know in the Br. This was one of my favorite episodes from All Grownup. I thought it was really creepy with Bean's glowing red yes and discovering the rotted remains of the missing settlers, who apparently died playing cards. That alone is scarier in context because they either died due to starvation, hypothermia, or some other reason and they played cards to distract themselves from their pain. Always wondered what exactly Bean had to do with the settlers because he's clearly haunting the camp, but he started acting weird when they got closer and closer to finding the corpses.
@Tally64
@Tally64 2 жыл бұрын
My guess is that Bean was related to one of the 3 who was stuck in the mine. He was pretty young, so he must've waited for them before dying himself. Maybe he had a chance to leave, maybe a Native American offered to help him, but he stayed sure his family would come back. Perhaps over time he felt disconnected to the past and what he was waiting for, so he made the camp his home. He acted pretty normal and not out of place.

I LOVED this episode as a kid, I thought it was so cool! I admit I was never really affected by cartoon horror like this, probably because I always knew a kids show couldn't really show anything too hardcore. But you know what episode scared the hell out of me when I was young? The one where Susie gets scammed out of a bunch of money, and her sister goes on about how much worse it could've been. That stuck with me hardcore, because I'd been approached by women like that, and they always gave off a weird vibe that I couldn't put my finger on until then.

This episode didn't scare me as much as Chuckie having the monster under his bed freaked me out as a kid even tho the ending was happy. But what scared me the most was when Chuckie heard the monsters voice but Tommy didn't indicating that it was all inside Chuckie's head of over active imagination of his fears.

this is one of the few shows that feel like actually grew up when i did. alot of shows tried to do that "ok but theyre older now like you" thing and it just didnt work. something about tommy and the bois though, felt very real

OH, and as far as darker episodes from cartoons goes, this isnt so much scary as it is tackling a more serious topic, but maybe the episode And She Was Gone from As Told By Ginger could be interesting to cover?

“don’t ever got no brain or nuthin” that is what has stuck with me for over 17 years after viewing that episode. I still say it randomly out of the blue lol also that ending scared the SHIT OUT OF ME as a child. I screamed just like the kids did 😂

One of my favourite parts of this episode is when they all come back to the camp as the play is ending, but then the adults burst onto the stage and fill out the run time by telling people what actually happened to the missing settlers.

Great video, this was a favorite episode of mine from any cartoons I watched growing up. Nickelodeon used to do great Halloween specials. It did kinda strike me that you refer to the theatre play story as "filler". I felt it was more akin to an A-plot/B-plot. the theatre storyline (B-plot) contained a complete story, had a good moral, and was funny as you said. The theatre storyline also did a good job of giving context/insight on the relationships of all the characters, which is important when using an extended cast. This is important to providing the spooky part of the episode (A-plot) higher stakes, more emotional investment, and better continuity. The pacing of the episode is very in-line with mid-2000s Nickelodeon cartoon episode structure, one-half of an episode per story (See: Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents). All that to say, it was great episode and I appreciate this video, it's really cool to look back on the cartoons of my childhood and think more technically about what made them so good.

I loved this episode as a kid. Only saw it once or twice, but I'll never forget that infamous line, and the kid who turned out to be a ghost at the end. I was 9 when this episode debuted, so I definitely understood that it was meant to be a departure from the usually lighthearted episodes. Good times then.
