Yesterday I used Sononym to find duplicates in huge a old folder. I mean decades old consisting of old samples from magazines, websites, torrents etc. Some were used by more then 5 different companies/sound designers Some had the same drum sample in the sample CD but with a different number or were reused in a part 2 of the sample CD. In Sononym you can see the waveform. Some companies just added a transient designer to a kick and called it a day.

I never knew the amount of stolen eselling of sample packs until getting into trap and drill production. Apparently, it's a super common thing in the "drum kit" world. Most trap\drill drum kits seem to be reused and repacked samples made by someone else already, which makes for a super weird scene in general. stolen\collected sounds renamed and made into a drum kit by an artist, then someone else jacks that collection and resells it. no wonder everything sounds the same.
