Let me know your skill leveling strategies below ! I have already seen some excellent ones for Blood Magic I hadn't considered

Notes- you can have the fire close to the golem hole- you just need to stealth to break its aggro first. Also, building a roofed raised-earth compound around the hole and your firing spot, fire, and portal will prevent things attacking you or your golem so you can be a dick to the golem in peace. :) For weapon skills, if you dont have a friend available then (if you have the energy, and have killed Moder) instead of bothering grey dwarves tame a couple of loxes, build a lox autobreeder (can find videos for that on youtube, I like this one- kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHStZGaVnLFpjdk), breed a dozen+ loxes, grab your weak weapon, turn on pvp and go to town. Once theyre all nearly dead feed them (which if its been a couple of game days will probably heal them to full), beat them down again, feed them again and go do something else for a couple of days. 4 lvl 2 crude bows and 400 wooden arrows is fine for bow skill. Since you can stand about 4 feet away from the targets range and accuracy arent issues. Also you dont need a full pull before you fire- you just need enough pull for the arrow to reach the target, and small pull means less damage which means more shots per lox. Having a friend to wail on is better, but this is faster than anything else. If you need more weapon skill than your loxes can provide in one session THEN you can go bother a greydwarf spawner. Important note- build the breed on a large area of flat land (as per the video) but also surround the pit with a max height raised-earth wall right against the edges of the pit because loxes will climb over each other to ridiculous degrees to get out of a pit. Blocking- A friend is good no so much for blocking, but because its a two-fer for weapon skill and block skill. BUT if you're solo or just interested in block skill, its far better to go build a block trainer, as seen here- kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJWpf6Vsha97r80 18-some skeleton archers will gain you skill far faster than a single friend whacking on you ever can. However, unlike the video, I recommend you instead build it in the swamp near a skeleton spawner using raised earth to create the shape of the holding area instead of digging down somewhere. You just need to make some stairs to lure the skeletons up onto the roof so you can push them into the hole to fill the trainer. The reasons to build in the swamp are that its a shorter distance from the spawner(s) so its faster to load your trainer, but much more importantly the skeletons will not get distracted by anything native to the swamp so you never have to step outside to deal with passersby. Also if you remove a section of the stairs onto the roof nothing non-native can get up there to distract them either. Its always embarrassing if your skeletons get distracted and blow a hole in the roof. :P Blood magic- you have the right kind of idea, but it can be better- Find a spawner, diga nice big pit under it, raised earth walls around the pit and a bit more on one side, roof the whole place except directly over the spawner since it will stop spawning if you do roof over it. But build wood walls around that hole as high as structure will allow Have a ledge maybe 4m wide about chest-high above the pit floor along the edge of the pit on the side your earth walls left extra space. Along the top of that pit edge above that ledge place a line of wood beams. Put a barrier between the top of that edge of the pit and the spawner so that stray arrows cannot hit the spawner. Make a fireplace within range of the pit edge, make yourself a chair if you wish, summon your full capacity of skeletons near the pit. Only one needs to be an archer (just need one, more dont help), have a seat and go to work or bed or out for dinner or whatever. The archer will happily kill everything in the pit till doomsday. Bats drakes are the only possible issue but they shouldnt be able to get in due to the wall around the gap above the spawner, and if one does the skeletons should eventually get it. (Which is why you summon max skeletons even if you already have an archer. Nothing outside can see you or your skeletons to target you so you should be entirely safe. If you're feeling extra cautious build a perimeter wall further out around the whole complex to keep stuff away from the earth walls, and build a box around yourself before you go afk. This is obviously more work than your setup, but protects you from raids and wandering trolls while you're afk, while yours doesnt.

@@DR4296 Not bugged, it just makes bows ridiculous combared to how you'd take it at first. Bows are insane once you get them leveled, it's -33% stamina usage, -80% draw time, +144% dmg at level 100. So half that at level 50. Very very good

Best Way to Level Blocking: Step1. Build a small dirt-walled room near a skele/draugr spawn (raise ground with a hoe, or dig a big hole) Step2. Harpoon skeleton/draugr archers into the room, capture as many as you want Step3. Hold up a serphant tower shield and get in sight of the mobs, enjoy the insane xp gain Lazy version: Summon a few elders and stay in distance. Block the root attacks with a tower shield To level weapon in solo, you can start a lox farm and massage them with PVP on. Just don't let ASPCA find out.

If you want a quicker way to level blood magic, you can use the grouping of body piles and skeleton spawners in swamp (make sure to bury the spawners with raised ground). Summon as many skeleotons as you can and just reapply the bubble every time it breaks. This is the fastest way to level blood magic that I found but you cannot do it afk.

I think you dont even level up after some time if you dont use summons protective bubble. I played with my gf for a long time using bubbles all the time and havent leveled up a single bit.

@@SpazzyjonesGaming Unless they changed how blocking works, you got it wrong and needing a partner is just a waste of time. To level up your block from 0 to 100 in like 1 hour, you can construct a base for it. Find a solid black forest, make a cavern (inside a bounder) where you can safely trap skeleton archers (like 19 of them). They spawn as crypt guardians outside in the number of 2, if they spawn as melee skeletons just destroy them and come back in a few days. If they spawn as skeleton archers get them to follow you and trap them inside the cave. Then get a root armor set with the serpent tower shield. Jump into that cave to be focused by all skeleton archers at the same time and just stand there blocking, leveling up your block skill instantly. That's how I do it.

​@user-qt8yo7gs7i search block trainer on youtube. You will want to watch the one where a guy digs a hallway out and has an elbow or corner to hide behind. He then uses a brick floor and clips the brick stair in the floor so skeletons can't walk over it. He then fills it with 40 or so skeletons amd uses the scale shield amd root armor to block them. And when he's about to stagger he retreats behind corner.

/bind mouse0 cheer Use this command and you will be able spam arrows much faster (arrows would have only minimal velocity). Create ladder above bonmass, prepare multiple bows and arrows. Start spamming left clicks. The dmg is too low to kill bonemass, but skill is raising. Use /unbind mouse0 to cancel this mode and fight normally

For leveling block make a 2 story stone structure a little ways away from a skeleton spawner. On the bottom floor make a slot where archers can shoot out at you but they can't walk out, on the top floor make a hole in the floor so you can drop archers in. Now lure skeleton archers from the spawner into your building, push them in the hole on the floor until you have like 10-15, as long as your building is far enough away the spawner will keep spawning more skeletons, just kill the melee ones. When you walk in front of the slot on the bottom floor holding a shield and all the skeletons start shooting you get mad blocking exp.

Good informative video. Just 2 cents to add: If I remember right, you don't need any enemy to improve stealth, just walk in that mode whenever you can and not in hurry. I usually do that when taming (not to be completely afk, which is dangerous). Classic enclosed greydwarf farm is still the best option to lvl up blood magic (and get free wood, stones and chicken food). Not to mention that it is always fun project to build.

Yes you are right, you get stealth skill XP while sneaking when no enemies are nearby but you get far less. When an enemy is nearby you get far more. Animals you are taming would be considered an enemy so you can increase your level while taming for sure

Fun fact. To kill your skellies till you get archers with the blood magic trainer. You do not have to turn on PVP. A butcher's knife works on them the same as any tames animal. Just use a Butcher knife until you get the archers, much faster than pvp method.

You can use the butcher knife to insta-kill the summoned melee skeletons that you don't want without needing to enable pvp Also, everytime an skeleton raid triggers on my base i let them atack me continously while blocking. For the time the event finishes 1 level use to be raised and then I smash them all

there is some wrong information in this video. first off : youre not supposed to get exp from doing ZERO dmg to anything. thats an exploit. they patched that out a few years ago with the old rock leveleing method. check it out you can still find videos on it. that got removed for a reason. getting exp for zero dmg is not intended behavoir therefore otherwise that would have never been patched. so any method useing this for certain skills now that require dealing dmg to level : exploiting. may aswell cheat then. that beeing said: block is BY FAR the fastest to level with building a skeleton archer blocking trainer. video on this exists. still works even now. requires about 2 hours of building it but it will level block from 15 to 100 in about 1 hour once you have about 40 skeletons collected. and theyll never despawn if there is a bench or other player object nearby so you can keep useing it should you ever lose the 100 block. this is like 10 times faster than doing it with a buddy. so that claim on that beeing the fasted method is wrong. by a long shot. regarding bows : drawspeed does not max at 100 but at 85. same for crossbows drawspeed reduction. it hardcaps at 85. leveling bow past 85 has therefore no real impact anymore. melee weapons hit thier peak dmg numbers at level 75 accross the board. past that the only thing you gain is 9% stamina cost reduction and 15% more MINIMUM dmg from 75 to 100. this means leveling melee weapons past 75 has only very minimal benefits especially cosidering that the BULK of the exp needed is past 75 while haveing the least impact. blood magic can be leveled afk at a spawner over night. this makes this skill trivial to level since it levels by just haveing your passive summons deal dmg. just leave game running. bam 100 blood magic. this wont get fixed since only 2 items really benefit from this skill. the trollstav only gains eitr and health cost reduction currently. overall if youre not useing the bubble : forget about this skill. bubble is the sole reason to even level it. leveling bow quickly can be done solo actually just as fast as with a buddy by useing BONEMASS and a treehouse. not that buddy leveling while pvp is turned off is not legit to begin with. its an exploit since youre doing no actual dmg. bonemass takes next to no dmg from a crude bow with wodden arrows. repair at treehouse to use it infinitely. just keep fireing. when bonemass ever gets low. portal away and sleep trough the night. bonemass is now back at full hp when you return since bosses regen health by % when not in combat for a minute. works for crossbows aswell. rideing is one of the most useless skills in this game. just dont bother. with the stone portal addition it got even more useless. spears level faster than any other weapon type in the game since they get more exp per hit. dont ask me why. its just the way it is. knives level from butchering tamed creatures. knive has the highest attack rate in the game so it also levels stupid fast. knife has no ashlands weapon so its not a good weapon class at endgame sadly currently. keep that in mind before wasting time leveling this. skills worth leveling (to which point) to get the best benefits : bow to 85. anything above is pure minimal bonus dmg and a tiny amount of stamina saved. desired melee weapon to 75. forget the fist skill exists. chose atleast 2 different dmg types here. blunt and slash are the best choices due to the bow already takeing care of pierce. elemental magic to 75 (IF YOU WANNA USE MAGIC only) jump and run. both all the way to 100. easiest skills to level naturally. jump gets so much exp in mistlands its not even funny. jump 100 is a MASSIVE benefit. people sleep on this. add feather cape and you just parkour the entire game with ease and can escape ANYTHING that doesnt fly. the rest of the skills is not worth leveling overall currently. swim is one of THE WORST skills in the entire game effect wise currently. and you still drown really really fast regardless. not sure why this is even a skill. just as useless as rideing. forget about it. crossbow is just bad vs a bow with skill 80+ coupled with the fact you cannot level it till mistlands AND it beeing the slowest of all the weapons to level PLUS bow haveing access to frost arrows hammers this home even further. crossbow is just bad compared to a well leveled bow skill no matter what. yes i used and tested both. its not even close. at 85 bow can fire FIVE TIMES by the time crossbow fires ONCE at 85. the higher base dmg of the crossbow has no chance to make up for this wide of a gap in dps. couple with the new ashlands lighting weapons which are relying on SPEED above all else to proc as much as you can per minute puts bow EVEN FARTHER AHEAD. anyone who tells you crossbow is better has terrible skill levels or is outright uninformed and fails at basic math. hope this information is helpful for someone.

Hard disagree on the crossbow/bow comparison. The Crossbow has WAY more pierce, which does substantiually more damage to many mobs, especially in the Ashlands, due to how these stats works. Sure you might shoot way slower than with a high bow skill, but it also just does way, way more damage. It highly depends on the mob. On a charred, both crossbow and bow deal the same damage, with the bow shooting way faster. On a charred warrior or Morgen however, the crossbow does more than double the damage of a bow. If you play on normal or higher difficulty it's also impossible to keep the bow skill elevated in the ashlands, unless you constantly use it to kill any mob and play like an absolute pussy. The crossbow is largely independend from the skill level, so it's a nice combination alongside melee or magic builds. Last benefit: You shoot slower, which consumes less ammunition and durability. 1 stack of bolts at max. Gives you another inventory slot over the bow. From some testing with the mobs and skills through devcommands, the crossbow is just a no brainer and better all the way until a skill of around 60, the higher it is above that, the bow gains more and more, closing the gap on the crossbow and when it comes to less resistant mobs, even surpassing the crossbow considerably. Oh, and I forgot to mention: you can 2 shot gjalls with the storm crossbow... First surprise hit is insane. It's satisfying when you shoot a valkyrie from afar and she's already down half health from 1 shot. Bow doesn't have such huge innitial hits. Also another benefit to the crossbow. Bow faction has been overrated asf since Mistlands. I think melee axe + crossbow or bloodmagic (bubble, trollstav) + Staff of Wild are MUCH better combos than any ask set bow build out right now in Ashlands. A crossbow is also a nice addition on a magic build to fire off 1 attack in between eiter regens.

Mining: Hitting stone structures with a pickaxe also raises your pickaxe skill. So you could place a stone floor inside your house and start wacking it, ther repair once low hp. Blocking: find a skeleton spawner in a swamp close to the edge of the biome (preferably nexr to meadows). A bit further away from spawner, raise ground wall or dig a hole of like, 10x6m. Cover hole with stone floors and leave 1 gap in the middle. I side hole, make uncrossable ledge from stone stairs. Start killing skeletons until you get archers, then pull them over and into the hole with the harpoon. If it's far enough from the spawner, more will spawn. Rinse and repeat until you have enough skele archers. (I went with 50).

If you are playing with a friend you can enable pvp while your friend has it disabled. Then you can hit them for xp while they will remain unharmed. Its a great way to level up your attack skills when your friend is afk

great point, you are correct. I stated in the video that we both had to enable it because my buddy was leveling his blocking skill. However, to your point, if only one person wants to level a skill, yeah the blocking player doens't need pvp enabled

i have a great semi-afk strategy for blood magic lvling. You just have to stay in the fire in swamps and it damages your shield from the staff of protection (dont build over the fire or you will catch on fire and die) and also i like to use drauger villages for lvling melee wepons because with full flamemetal gear and ashen cape they dont do much dmg and have more hp then greydwarfs

Skills still being based on hits instead of damage done continues to be lame because it will always be in your interest to level with the lowest quality/dmg weapons. XP based on dmg done and maybe a modifier on enemy types as well would be a whole lot better. Obviously it would get a whole lot more complex but as someone pointed out below, doing a full playthrough without dying once and you're NO WHERE NEAR getting any skills to max.

for elemental leveling, put the hole near a rock and build off of the top of the rock, you can make a shelter up there to stay safe and it gets you far enough away from the golem so you can still get the resting buff on top of the rested buff to super charge your eitr regen while you blast the golem, put a fire and portal there to get you back to base quickly for a repair and let you get to and from easily for farming when you want to for blood magic: you can cover a greydwarf spawner with ground to keep it from being destroyed, then raise ground in a circle while making sure that its tall enough and steep enough (use a pickaxe near the wall till its at its steepest point) to prevent enemies from climbing up, then place a stone ceiling to keep you safe while you afk inside all night long, and also place your skellies on top to let them shoot, you can also use the staff of protection to give them a shield for blocking, go to a burial chamber, preferrably one that still has a spawner, grab 2 or 3 skellies that are not 1 or 2 star (kill the starred skellies) kite them to a hallway and push them up against the wall with yourself on the other end (so both of you are against a wall) and put your shield up, this prevents them from getting pushed back when you block them, and if you can use your parries to get them all to attack at the same time, you wont have to worry about losing all your stamina, get strong enough gear to prevent yourself from taking dmg and you wont need any food while you break 8 shields for some very fast leveling, can get you from 0-50 in 2-3 hours

for weapon levelling without a buddy, I have discovered that you can level them by attacking your summoned skeleton (ideally with a shield bubble on so it can take many hits) which makes it safer and faster than attacking mobs at a spawn since the skeleton does not run around much, note that you do have to switch friendly fire on to be able to hit the skellies

For the melee weapon leveling with a friend, you can also tell your friend to turn pvp off, while you turn pvp on, that way it still counts as damaging someone but your friends doesn't get staggered and doesn't have to block annything and can simply stay afk.

I found a mountain biome next to a black forest one, where I had located a greydwarf spawner. I built the base around, and prepared a hole for a golem (don't use building blocks, they'll get destroyed by golem's AoE. Dig/elevate ground instead).. I then pulled the golem with a harpoon and brought it all the way down the hole. I then summon my skellies on an elevated platform (I should have made it higher, they get damaged by stone throws, and bubble breaking on skellies is low xp compared to the hassle of their life decreasing) an d let them do their tricks on the greydwarves, while I shoot ice at the imprisoned stone golem (with a slit in the rocks to allow my casting to reach it). This is not perfect but allows a ~1 level on blood magic for every ~10 level in Elemental. With full buffs it's about 8-10 minutes per Elemental level. Yes, Blood magic takes a LOT of time to level. As someone else said in the comments: best leveling trick = don't die :)

Staff of Frost is slower because you spend so much time with your eitr bar not regenerating. Staff of Embers, you get the full 1xp with 1 click, and immediately start regenerating. And you can rapid fire your shots, too. Embers is faster xp while fighting in normal play. But there's nothing that's immune to blunt, so it's sadly not good for an xp training strategy.

Skill reduction from death can be a nightmare. Had both my run and jump maxed, most other skills in the 70’s-80’s, and after about 3 deaths in the Ashlands I lost about 20 points in *every skill* . That, SUCKED. lol. Started being a *lot* more careful after that. Progression is slow, but I stopped dying. Good trade to me. Also, with sneaking, I’m pretty sure if you run out of stamina while sneaking you will stand up, which will attract the attention of whatever mob you’re trying to sneak around, so be mindful of stamina level. Excellent guide by the way. Very helpful.

There was an in-game day or two where I was smelting a bunch of copper and tin with my door open, and there was a greydwarf just moping around outside. I decided to just sneak while I was doing everything and got about 15 levels even without much stamina boost (albeit I was in full troll armor).

11:55 I found out that the player who acts like training dummy can turn off their friendly fire, only the attacker need to turn on friendly fire and the strat still works fine. I don't know if they would fix this or not but it's very convenient since the other player(s) can just afk without worrying about food and armor durability

It's worth noting, since it wasn't covered fully in the video that the 5% skill loss scales the higher your level is in that skill. So while it may take only one level away at skill 20, it will take 2 levels from 21-40, 3 levels at 41-60, 4 at 61-80 and finally 5 at 81-100. The game takes your current level in a stat multiplied by 95% to find how much it reduces. If it isn't a whole number, it rounds down. If playing on 1% skill loss world setting, then you lose 1 skill level consistently as stated in the video. This was an excellent video on the skills. Very informative.

For blood magic, you don't need to bother creating a raised platform for yourself. Just create a 1x1 floor on the ground, with a 2-stack of horizontal beams around it to prevent you from getting pushed off. in full chitin armor, the greydwarves can't damage you faster than you can heal, even without any buffs or food, when you've got a pair (or 3) skeleton archers firing. when you are on the ground, the greydwarves pause movement more to attack in melee, meaning they get killed faster by the skeleton arrows.

Make sure that the Shield generator is far enough, but not too far, as it need only cover the corner of the hole where the skeletons are. I train blood magic by digging a hole under grey dwarf spawner and summon skeletts there. Don't have to worry what type of skelett they are. At same time I build hut with fire and shelter and placed piece of stone wall and while skeletts kill dwarfs I mine the wall for pickaxe levels. Or run jump and sneak.

If you raise ground over the spawner it will still spawn but the skeletons can't destroy it. That's much less afk though as you have to restore the protection bubbles a lot

Yes this works well. With the pit the spawner does not get destroyed. if you make a 2nd pit inside the main pit for the dwarves to spawn in this prevents the dwarves from being able to damage the skeleton archers. You enclose the archers in half walls to prevent them from wandering in small pit. This also produces an endless supply of wood, stone, and resin. I'm curious to try the swamp spawners.

Same idea archer skeletons can shoot through but don't take any return fire. Then I set up a rest area in a separate room for rested buff and afk

Ok so another KZbinr albeit there are MANY that fall into the same mistakes when talking about NUMEBRS. So the first example a Melee attack and mentioning these high number output difference when comparing 0 versus 100. First of all no player will have zero skill to ever compare to 100. The more important thing is that what matters is the actual number of hits not how dmg is being done because nobody and the game does not care otherwise. So in this melee example it took TWO hits from both the 0 skill and the max 10 skill so EXACTLY the same NO difference.This should have become very evident in other areas like chopping trees or mining you might save 1 then maybe 2 hits but your advancing to higher tiers so it is still the same hits lol. Fishing stamina lol not important I have never worried about that stamina or even fishing period. So where anything actually matters is in the once BOSS fights it just speeds up time and does not make the fights anymore intriguing.Saving Stamina or jumping higher does what if you spent countless hours grinding those skillups?NONE of these skillups are needed they are not important what so ever.
