$450 with the box, no ram or hdd included. At the end of the day you’ll still pay $700, which puts it squarely in the range of these mini PCs we’ve seen. It’s not bad but it’s not great either. I think the Xbox Series S at $300 is a far better bargain. This would be a great upgrade over the RPi4, but it’s so much more expensive that I just don’t think it’s worth it. It’s neat in principle, but unless you have very specific needs and desperately desire that form factor, it’s just another piece of hardware that’s either too expensive or not powerful enough.

Pretty impressive! Do you think the TigerLake APUs are generally outperforming the Ryzen 4000g series regarding the integrated graphics?
@Deinorius3 жыл бұрын
In terms of gaming they're generally better than the Ryzen 4000 APUs. I'm not sure right now about the 5000 ones but even then it might need the high end parts with 8C16T. On the other side driver support is still better at AMD. If the emulators are working it's working on an emulator basis. For PC gaming there can be problems with single games. Hardware wise it's very important to use LPDDR4X memory. I'm quite impressed emulation works well enough with normal DDR4 memory but don't try to go full in into PC gaming, at least new PC games. The next thing in differences are the efficiency. Ryzen is generally more efficient IMO. For a NUC it doesn't really matter as you won't use it with a battery. With an Windows handheld like the Aya Neo or GPD Win 3 I see advantages for Ryzen when setting lower TDPs. And they can be cheaper still. 4C/8T are still enough for most things in this formfactor if you don't want to game hard or render hard stuff. I would still wish AMD would release an gaming APU with less cores and maximum GPU cores.
@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE3 жыл бұрын
@@Deinorius Yeah I don't expect an APU to do well in modern PC titles until at least DDR5 is available to alleviate the severe memory bandwidth restrictions that make integrated graphics horrendous in comparison to a dedicated GPU with GDDR6 or even GDDR5. I don't plan on picking up a system like this.. if I were I'd just get a cheap used X99 8 core Xeon and a cheap 4GB GPU and try and stick it in a small form factor case. Interested to see what the APU fight is like though. DDR5 should make things interesting late this year and next year.

I'm trying to play 'Heavenly Sword', called 'playable' on the emulator project website. I can only run the intro without a problem, but once it reaches the gameplay part properly... the screen turns red with an "O" button (which I desperately press for minutes at a time) and it doesn't come out of it. I've tried everything, this includes running with Vulkan and OpenGL; with this last API, it gets worse even in the intro of the game. [ By comparison, I can play the Cemu emulator satisfactorily well, nothing at the 'almighty' level but playable without a problem, titles like 'Zelda Breath of the Wild' and 'Mario Kart 8'. I think RPCS3 is still precocious, but this little PC board can run, I don't understand that... ]
