it's actually super easy! I basically just needed to map the knob to scroll. Most plugins allow you to change their parameters via the scroll wheel.

Great video love your content. Very cool with the Pro Q and the know. How do you go about change frequency instead of db or even the curve? You still use your mouse for that? I’m just wondering :)

Great video! Coming from MBP keyboards, why did you decide to go with this keyboard instead of a Keychron low profile? I was thinking of getting the low profile because I'm used to low profile keyboards but now I'm intrigued :)

For me via/qmk is better to have then using any keychron software. Most open source boards will use this and when you learn it you don't want to have to use propietary

The Q series is compatable with VIA which is an open source software that lets you customize your keys. You might be able to add a language switching button

I did demonstrate that the Q1 Max is compatible with QMK/VIA. I still would want a language switching key to the left of the control key though!

Fair! TouchID is super handy. I have my MBP on a stand next to my main monitor so I still have access to touchID whenever I need it.

I agree with you on using things on a per app basis, if I am not mistaken Keyboard Maestro might be able to help out in that department.

Man, I tried Keyboard Maestro and I just don't have the technical knowledge to use it. I need something WAY simpler and user-friendly. Think Logic Option+.

I agree, Keyboard Maestro is very difficult to use. It is not user-friendly at all. On the topic of using the volume knob on a per-app basis, I am really surprised that Keychron or some other keyboard manufacturer did not capitalize on a software/QMK combination. This would take the functionality of the keyboards to a whole different level.

You can totally rearrange your modifier keys to your heart’s desire with VIA. I did. I also stopped using a Nuphy keyboard precisely because their custom software did not allow me to rearrange the modifier keys and I would be wary if Keychron decided to ditch QMK/VIA in favor of custom software: the danger of a custom solution being more limited than an existing super popular open source one is too high. Granted, VIA does have its annoyances and I am a software engineer myself, but I doubt custom software from a small manufacturer will solve the problem.

I understand you can remap any keys of the keyboard with VIA, but as I pointed out in the video, the issue is more about the placement of the three modifier keys. It's not something solvable by remapping. Good point about custom software. The thing is, there's no way for us to predict if Keychron's own custom software would be good or not. All I can say at this point is that VIA does not allow custom mapping on a per-app basis, and that's something that could drastically help my day-to-day work as a creative professional! I'm currently using Logitech's Logi Options+ for my mouse and the per-app configuration is insanely useful.

@@JamesZhan right. My point was that Nuphy’s custom software doesn’t allow remapping the modifier keys and that’s a dealbreaker for me. I believe Logitech Options is also limited to what you can remap on a keyboard. Seems like there’s no solution that will let us have all the things we want. :)

@@bj0rnen Yeah I actually specifically look into what kind of remapping capability Logi Options+ has and was disappointed to find that it only allows you to customize pretty much only the function keys.

Haha, to me, it's actually better. It's right on the keyboard, and I can use it with other software easily. Something like the Softube Console 1 might make sense for someone who uses a lot of Softube's plugins on a daily basis, but I don't belong to that demographic.
