meditation doesn't make you a better version of yourself. it allows you to see that you've always been your best self.
@77XTINA
@77XTINA Жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with this. Meditation might remind people of their innate value, but not everyone is living their best lives or the best versions of themselves. Just as an example - someone who doesn't treat their body with respect, or someone who negatively evaluates themselves, meditation can give you the mental clarity to see how you're not living in harmony with yourself, and this clarity can assist in making healthy changes. Your comment is perpetuating a negative message that stops people from growth. It's brave to admit when we need to change. To live a life where we're not challenged, to live as if we're good enough already and to never strive for better, is a damaging message to our culture.
@toeguides
@toeguides Жыл бұрын
@@77XTINA "Your comment is perpetuating a negative message that stops people from growth." ahhh yes, the ultimate negative message: you are good enough. this is the greatest insult of all when your entire culture is staked on the improvement game. maybe we grow like plants, and not in an improvement sense. maybe the message that you need to be better than you are is a damaging message to our culture. how could i possibly be anything other than what i am? maybe the whole not accepting ourselves thing is the cause of the unhealthiness and disharmony you reference. My advice with meditation is that it gets easier. Stray thoughts enter your mind and you lose your focus, instead turning it on to them - what helps is to allow those thoughts to play out and do their thing, but not give them any more energy or attention - just keep bringing your mind back to stillness and let them run their course. When you start, you have so many more of these thoughts and you're not as well practiced, so don't worry about how long you hit that magical stillness for, but breathing is perfect to keep your attention locked on something more beneficial and the rest is just calm and still. Gets easier with practice, like everything else but key is not punishing yourself for being not very good at it and with time the still moments will just get longer. Had to edit the typos! Good luck :-)

The book Making sense of nonsense by Raymond Moody is the most important book ever written. It is teaching humanity a new skill that may appear to seem like a pointless skill to learn, but that is just to keep ignorance away. Wisdom can see the wisdom of learning to understand things that do not currently make sense to you. God's LAW (love and wisdom) to you all. RW ❤️ 🙏

@sibzilla
@sibzilla Жыл бұрын
If you can separate yourself from your thoughts then you’re on to something Gary. You are not your thoughts. You sit beyond the thoughts and just observe them. Focusing on breathing is good to keep you cantered - but it doesn’t have to be breathing, it can be whatever calm thing helps keep you centred. Your thoughts might contain arguments, or memories, things you don’t really enjoy perhaps but just let them have their moment and they will lose energy as they play out. Eventually, with time your mind will get quieter. It might not be totally quiet for a while, but there will be moments of quiet and then at some point you will get to a place where your mind becomes truly still and without thoughts. It’s weird. No thoughts. In this place you can really decide and you can feel truly like you. Not reacting. Not behaving in a way that your ego decides. Truly you. It’s pretty cool, but it’s hard and thoughts just keep coming especially if you have work to do with trauma, busy stressful life etc etc but key is accepting and calling. Good luck mate. You got this.

However, one's own soul desires divine connection to God, the source of bliss. Sat Chit Anand God is bliss and souls are tiny, eternal parts of God. The maya mind is the eternal veil that obscures soul from God-realization for all past lifetimes. Gurus proclaim path to god realization is surrender your mind to God and grace will follow according to your surrender. No other rules or regulations required, but a God-realized guru recommended for knowledge. Free-will is god given. Your choice. One can screwup for many lifetimes if you choose.
