Just put a turbo on the Tacoma if you have the 4 cylinder. Easy 300+ whp. Can make 600+ with a couple parts and a couple grand.

@sloanmagnum5009 Depends on where you are I suppose. They pumped the 2rz and the 3rz into Tacomas, 4Runners, and similar platforms from 95-04. The problem with getting your hands on just the engine is usually because they are still in trucks driving around. That being said, there are several engines posted for sale within a day's drive of me.

That's what I was going to comment. I think the 400hp V8 used by Arial for a while was Hyabusa based. I'm not sure that the Arial Atom at 785hp would be very driveable because you couldn't give it much throttle before you swap ends.

Both Hartley and JFC make 'Busa derived V8s. The Ariel Atom had the V8 from Hartley. Both can be turbo charged, but only JFC advertises the horsepower figure. Hartley also sells the Bolt 4 bottom end, basically divorcing the 'Busa engine from the motorcycle Transmisson. Allowing you to use any convectional transmission/axle with the 'Busa engine.

@@plap. This doesn't sound like a V8, it sounds like an annoying pack of mosquitos, it's two conjoined Inline 4 high revving screamer engines. Not even Corvette C8 sound like a V8 with that flat plane crank anymore for this to have a chance.

Undoubtedly most interested in these powerplants would find their costs beyond their means. An Aluminum LS type is the least expensive route to lightweight small size , high output ,due to massive proliferation !

You'll get 3mpg. Whenever you cram more air and fuel into a small displacement engine you get trash mpg. You see this with all these 4 and 5 cylinder engines in the new trucks. Once you make them work they get worse mpg then twice the displacement sized engines.

Not true at all it's all based on fuel and power is based on how much fuel you are dumping in there. You can get 30mpg in a 9k rpm k series but can also get 30mpg with a j series

The reason they govern the engines. It's not because they couldn't make those numbers. It's because the longevity most people don't spend that type of money to do a few runs. They want to get as much as possible out of the engine if it was a top fuel variant, then maybe. Just my 2cents

The engine will fit into almost any car. Unfortunately the huge radiators and turbo coolers will not.
