QUESTION OF THE DAY: Have you ever needed to use your wet/dry vac for high volume liquid cleanup? What happened and were you prepared? Did you know the Ridgid Wet Dry Vac's require this special filter?

My basement flooded

I was hoping to use it without the wet filter.
@altillman1448 Жыл бұрын
You do not need a specific filter to pick up water only with a Ridgid vac. Even the manufacturers directions state you can leave in place the paper filter to suck up small amounts of water and to remove the paper filter for sucking up large amounts of water. The accessory filter your recommending is not needed until, as its name implies, you have Wet "DEBRIS", or water with debris in it. Nothing wrong with purchasing or using it with all wet pick up. Just not a requirement until situations with wet debris arises.

I guessed 60 seconds. Shocked when it took 9 seconds! Good to know about the fireplace ashes too. After the big chunks are removed and everything is cool, I do it the old fashioned way by using the fireplace shovel. Not anymore! Thanks.

I really recommend using the shop vac bags for dry pickup in addition to the pleated filter. Without the bag, the pleated filter clogs up really fast and significantly reduced the performance of the vacuum.
@MarkThomasBuilder21 күн бұрын
Good point. I often vacuum up fine dust and drywall dust, which can quickly clog the filter.

Hi, and thanks for the review. My question is can these Wet Vac filters Be cleaned and reused.?
@MarkThomasBuilder4 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. I mostly just vacuum up water with it and not any other debris, so the filter doesn't need special cleaning.
@altillman14483 жыл бұрын
The wet filter directions actually state it is reusable and should be cleaned between uses. It also states its NOT to be used for anything BUT water pick up. Any other use outside of water pick up requires a different filter part number.

So I bought one of these wet/dry vacuum and used it to suck up water from my washer but used it with the filter it came with. Did I ruin my vacuum?
@MarkThomasBuilder2 жыл бұрын
No, your vacuum will be fine. The paper filter may need to be replaced after getting wet like that.

Could I use this filter when I’m not vacuuming up water or wet stuff? I do car detailing and it shouldn’t hurt to just leave it on right??
@MarkThomasBuilder Жыл бұрын
This filter won't catch any of the fine dirt/dust particles. I'd switch it out when not using it for water pickup.
@Lg19692 жыл бұрын
Mark can you do regular car vacuuming with that filter or do you have to switch it back to the paper one?? YES DO A VIDEO WITH THE DETAILING KIT...

I’ve sucked up more than a hundred gallons over water in my basement with no filter. I probably based on Rigid’s recommendations would have replaced this wet filter to the cost of the value of my shop vac. I don’t see any reason to waste money on a filter for wet vacuuming.
@MarkThomasBuilder2 жыл бұрын
If you have clean water that you're vacuuming up, you may be okay. I just play it safe and use the filter.

Do I absolutely need that filter? Or are there any dupes available? There are no VF7000 filters in my area and I need to get the flooded water up because of lung issues. I just went to HD and the guy gave me a blue fine dust filter and said he uses that but I don’t wanna break a device I just bought
@MarkThomasBuilder2 жыл бұрын
I had an extensive conversation with a Ridgid product manager and they say to always use the VF7000 filter for water cleanup. Where I'm at, I can normally get next day shipping on Home Depot products. I don't think you can use any of their other filters for water.
@HaloHighlightz2 жыл бұрын
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks for the response! The soonest I can get it is Friday, so I went ahead and used the blue filter and was able to get 10 gallons of water out in less than 45 min. My city’s flooding has made national news, and we’re due to get more rain; want to get and keep as much water out as possible so I’m willing to sacrifice this vac if it breaks down, but I’d buy another; I already love this vac, it might replace my regular one but I’ll definitely only use the wet filter with liquid once I have it though
@MarkThomasBuilder2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you'll do any damage to the vac by using the blue filter. The filter may get ruined over time, but that's not as big of a deal to replace. Sounds like you're in the St Louis area, which I saw on the news.
@HaloHighlightz2 жыл бұрын
@@MarkThomasBuilder I am. We got more rain that night than we get in July and Aug combined while Cali and Texas are in a drought smh. I tried a few stores and got the last Ridgid from HD. Seemed like everyone was looking for either a wet vac or dehumidifier. Luckily, my loved ones are safe and property is minimally damaged, so I'm thankful. I'm glad to know the blue filter prob won't ruin the engine, it's really handy.

DUDE - don't use it without a bag for dry vacuuming! The bag itself is the primary filter. You will be going through the expensive cylinder filters like hotcakes without a bag.

What a joke! High volume water clean up. What about a cellar full with dirty sandy water. Prep for that.
@MarkThomasBuilder5 жыл бұрын
If you have a cellar full of dirty water, I reviewed an ECHO WP1000 gas pump that might work better if you can have the pump outside.
@roanokejoe4 жыл бұрын
If you have that much water, you need help with your basement, not a wet/dry vac
