The show was hilarious, insightful, intense, and sometimes wonderfully mean. It was obvious from Loco's reactions that as much as he said to himself to not take it personally, he still was. By the end, we saw the 'ugly side' of the relationship: Loco was phoning it in prep wise(especially on the lck/lpl episodes), and Thorin was crossing the line (in my opinion) in terms of the banter, maybe in a misguided attempt to get Loco more motivated. I hope now that loco is dipping his feet in making content again, that maybe we could get a reunion episode - even if it is just having loco on SI or whatever.

This video had to be made imo. Im tired of seeing all the Loco hate like because he had very good insight when it came to most of the major regions particularly Korea and The minor region of NA. I think his role as the punching bad on podcasts contributed to people disliking him cause they thought were cool disliking or failing to understand a lot of the show is played up act for entertainment so they genuinely believed some people flat hated him rather then it being an act.
@bungkai5804 жыл бұрын
What insight? The guy got lazy and didn't have fuck all to offer. He also had lazy analysis and brings up emotional turmoil as legitimate game analysis. He's done this while arguing with LS about game states and mistakes. I'm not here to listen about how a person is feeling in the game, that doesn't tell me why Caps is good against Bjergsen or why certain teams are stylistically better than others or why a macro play that the team decided to do was bad. Him being a punching bag doesn't have anything to do with it, that attribute *was one of his redeeming qualities* and that's just sad. If he put more effort into his analysis and insight, people wouldn't hate hearing him as such. I'm actually tuning into Facecheck and looked for more of Thorin's content as soon as Loco was gone from them. Am I a hater? I guess I am, but it was tiring hearing him take defensive stances particularly with TSM when they were garbage and they haven't been good in so long.
@tempname40394 жыл бұрын
I thought his analysis was usually pretty good - I prefer it to LS, but yeah sometimes he would say silly stuff. He probably appeals more to Zoomers though so it's fine.
@TheKrenko4 жыл бұрын
@@bungkai580 "emotional turmoil as legitimate game analysis" people are human, and that side it is legitimate. Thats why you can see teams like Griffin struggling in high pressure games, and its the same reason why in Fnatic vs TOP Comps you could see how the game couldn't be won. In high pressure, trusting your teammates, or a good environment it is a game analysis as trustworthy as analytical. Of course no one wants to talk just about that, and we prefer the analytical part, but don't go to the other extreme and all of the sudden saying that have 0 value.

@@TheKrenko It's literally a one liner, what are you going to talk about for their emotional turmoil? "Oh this person felt pressure therefore he couldn't hit his skill shots"? Theres no content there unless you're going to tell me "Chovy got his girlfriend stolen by Perkz"

Great video, thanks Thorin. To contextualize Loco's accomplishments/his legacy for the game is something probably only Duncan would do at the moment, and that includes Loco himself. He was something of a victim of his time. Besides Loco's role in discovering talent like Madlife (of the "madlife" fame, for any new players), the absolute ace move of bringing Lustboy over will forever be underappreciated. It's one of the few cases where the coach brings over a friend, or recruits a player on a hunch, and it doesn't just go to hell. Typically, regardless of the actual talent of the player, such moves are trash in LoL history. Loco just needed more coaches to come before him to show how bad things could go (e.g. Yellowstar to TSM). Hope he lands on his feet.

The trap that so many analysis shows fall into is they aim to be perfectly objective and unbiased but then they realize they also need to be entertaining and the balance never works; if you try to pretend to be objective and then defend hot takes for entertainment, it just comes off as contradictory and annoying. Undisputed is such a great show because there's no pretense of unbiased analysis, its unapologetically about the characters of Skip and Shannon and the banter and about being a hater/fan and NOT about being purely objective/unbiased.
