When I saw the first trailer, my main concern was that the movie wouldn't be able to find its footing. And I was very right. It was very goofy and fun one moment, then next thing we have Gorr being all serious and creepy. Then again we have goofy stuff. Right back to Gorr walking through the darkness. Yeah, also took it as a callback to Odin's original enchantment on Mjolnir. Still would've loved more elaboration. To me it also has an aspect this being post-Ragnarok, and thus after Odin's death Thor inheriting the role of the Asgardian all father, but in the high-stakea chaos of the Infinity saga finale he did not have the time and headspace to realize these powers. Having Zeus's lightning, the weapon of another pantheon's all father may also act as a catalyst to do this more effectively. That's why it's accidental and activating on a large delay with Jane, and more instant and controlled with the kids. No he did not, right after Ragnarok and leaving Asgard to fall with Hela, Thanos attacked their refugee ship as of Ragnarok post-credit/ Infinity War cold open, and Thor only arrives in Wakanda after forging Stormbreaker.

I think it’s a legit way to show depression. I actually relate because when I’m going through a harder whether its grief or stress I usually play it off with jokes and I act more air headed than usual. Jokes are the tears of a clown. The jokes only help make him feel like a more realistic character instead of like the first two Thors where they treated him like a plot device moreso than the character

I thought the action was soooo good but it needed to take itself more seriously. I think especially since this movie takes place after Thor’s experiences with thanos in infinity war and endgame, the overall tone shouldn’t have been as light and goofy, and could’ve been a more serious, introspective conclusion to the Thor franchise after the fact. As with this kind of world breaking implications I don't only think on what it breaks, but what unstated rules can be there to still make it work. And it's only bad if I can't make up my answer from the mechanics of the world already demonstrated. On this scenario it goes like: Mjolnir's enchantment like this is a callback to Odin doing this in the first Thor movie, so there is a precedent to be able to do this. Maybe it needed to be post-Ragnarok with Odin passing away and Thor inheriting the role of the Asgardian All-Farher. And in the high-stakes finale of the Infinity Saga he didn't have the headspace and the calm to manifest these powers. And only after realizing it worked with Mjolnir and Jane on a fluke, can he somewhat control it at use this power with the kids. I think that Thor being able to grant the power to the children could be plausible, if the bolt is as powerful as it is stated, I think it could grant power to other beings. I also think it makes sense for him to go after the bolt only now. In the first Thor he was on the clock to get back to Asgard, in the first Avengers he was trying to find Loki, in Dark World he was on the clock to get back to Earth because Malekith was already there, in Age of Ultron he was busy helping the team find Ultron, in Ragnarok he barely made it to Asgard in time before Hela took over, in Infinity War, he only was interested in creating a Thanos killing axe, and in Endgame was was a lazy mf. He only went after the sword now because it was a matter only concerning gods, and he wanted help and to bring awareness to Omnipotent City. Now as to why Thor didn’t go after Eternity in Endgame, he didn’t know that you needed Bifrost to access the zone Eternity was in. Thanos could have known, but he didn’t want to mess with Odin who contained the key to Bifrost by protecting Asgard, and once Odin and Asgard were out of the picture, only then did he go for the space stone, attack the Asgardians while they were weak. I don’t really think the movie had any awfully confusing plot holes other than a couple of verbal continuity errors, but those aren’t big enough to complain about.

I feel like im kinda lucky in a sense that im basically the embodiment of the target audience they're making movies for now. Loki, MoM, Moon Knight, NWH, L&T, Shang Chi, Black Widow, TFaTWS, Eternals, all of them have been some of my favorite movies/shows in recent memory. All but Eternals id rank in the top quarter of the entire MCU. L&T is easily my favorite Thor movie, just watched it last night and even tho it was a shitty cam recording, i may watch again today. may have helped that i was stoned af, but all of Taika's humor hit home with me. the Goats were one of my biggest laughs throughout the movie, i almost cried when Jane died and then Thor went full dad mode, then they said they called them Love & Thunder and the waterworks started. Russell Crowe was a phenomenal Zues and im super excited to see him as the big bad of Thor 5, and Hercules looks cool af, despite him being bad CGI for some reason. Gorr is the best Thor Villain imo, and one of the MCU's best villains period (Loki isnt a true villain so i dont count him as one), and Christian Bale really nailed it imo. and it had some of the most visually stunning filmography ive ever seen, the scene in black and white was so damn good. A big thing for me is that Thor works so much better as a clueless, slightly insecure god with a heart of gold than his comic version of a stoic confident god. if im being completely honest, Thor 1 & 2 werent great less because of writing and more because they took the character too seriously. The stories in those two were fine imo, but thor was acting like a stoic God. every character needs some major weakness to offset their strenghts, Thor more than most because of him literally being a god. the cluelessness of his character and his insecurity is perfect for that imo. and he's basically been going through a midlife crisis since Loki's betrayal in the first film, and since asgardians live thousands of years, it would make sense to me that he keeps having to find himself again because his old ways keep seeping back into his actions due to millennia of learned behavior. you know the saying "rome wasnt built in a day"? well in thors case he has to tear down an entire planets worth of pre-existing foundations before he can even BEGIN to construct his "rome", shit like that takes time. Plus the events of Ragnarok happened before his people were massacred as he watched helplessly and he personally felt responsible for Thanos' winning in Infinity War, a Trauma like that would have set him back considerably in his path of self discovery. he would have doubted himself and gone back to what he deems as familiar to a degree. They're doing female versions to prep for A-Force id assume. outside of Widow, Wasp, Marvel, Wanda, & Gamora, they didnt really build many female heroes up in the infinity saga. and half of those are dead or "reset", so they needed more. not like they're just inventing characters or anything lol, these are all out of the comics, albeit with some changes in some cases. My new MCU top three are MoM, NWH, & L&T. Honorable mentions go out to my Pre-December top three of Infinity War, Moon Knight, & Loki.

To be fair, Steve also got the power of Thor because of Odin whispering to a hammer. So... It’s not super far fetched. Anf as this movie kind of implied, Mjolnir and Stormbreaker have some level of sentience. So again... Not super hard to grasp that Mjolnir would pick Jane not only because she's worthy (she's also what made Thor worthy), but it was keeping its promise to Thor. Edit: Why was Thor able to give all these kids the power of Thor? I don't know, maybe it's because he is Thor? Kind of a dumb question, honestly. I mean once again, Captain America gained the powers of Thor because of ODIN. And if Odin can grant people Thor's powers, then so can Thor himself. Edit 2: Thor can give other people his powers, and Mjolnir can give people the power of Thor. *None of this has been established.* Here is a line from the first film. Odin: And whomsoever wields this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. Then, in Endgame, Captain America wields the hammer... With the POWERS OF THOR. I feel like you're being disingenuous now. Edit 3: When I saw Zeus in the trailers, I was actually wanting to see Hercules at some point. Him and Thor put against each other could be pretty fucking sick.

I personally really enjoyed the film, yeah it has its weak moments and plot conveniences but overall I felt they showed Thor’s depression really well, the use of comedy to mask it actually works in my opinion, as that feels kind of realistic and truthful to how people deal with things in general. Thor’s relationship with Jane was most definitely the best part of the film, Jane’s character was improved massively and her death left major impact and even caught me by surprise, they handled the climax of the film really well too, glad they didn’t undermine it with comedy which I felt was the biggest issue with Ragnarok despite how much I enjoyed it. Gorr was great too, one of the more interesting villains we’ve had in a while, Christian Bale delivered an incredible performance. My only gripe is that I think he could have benefitted from having a couple more scenes, one of him killing more Gods might have shown him to be a a greater threat, also would’ve been nice to see Christian Bale let loose a bit more in the role I’d give the film a solid 8/10 by marvel standards, I definitely enjoyed it more than most of what we’ve gotten in phase 4 however it has its shortcomings

Positives: - The double down on the wackiness, comedy, and colorful action of Ragnarok works and is massively entertaining and hilarious. - Every character is engaging and fun to watch, with Thor, Gorr, and Jane’s return being standouts. - Rarely if ever undercuts dramatic moments with humor, leaving serious moments to be enjoyed more. - Feels like an appropriate continuation of where these characters have came from and are going, leaving the story to be on cruise control for the better. Negatives: - Has numerous plot points that give very short explanations that technically “work”, but leave a lot to be desired. - To the last point, the movie desperately craves an extra 15-20 minutes of runtime to more fully flesh out plot lines and characters, especially Gorr and Valkyrie. - Humor is overall entertaining but can sometimes get a little too zany and repetitive. 8/10, arguably the MCU’s best non-Spider-Man film since Endgame.

Felt like it wasn’t the best mcu movie but definitely top 12 at least. Loved to see the characters again and thought it was great for them to show how Thor was handling things after endgame and how he finally got through the depression by the end of the movie when he adopts Love. He finally has family again after losing so many. Action was great, Gorr was great, Jane as Mighty Thor was great, Korg was awesome, some jokes were a little cringe and weird but most of them landed for me.

from what I've gathered about zeus is that he was that way on purpose its mentioned that nobody believes in gods anymore and have been completely forgotten and replaced by superheroes, so he got lazy and its why he was like that in the movie and in his next appearance i think he'll be a threat in the future maybe there's a battle of the gods arc in the story they'll adapt where he'll be the main vaillain

I thought it was pretty good as someone who is luke-warm on Ragnarok, felt it was slightly better while mostly being the same sort of deal. Would just say I preferred it because it went to multiple locations and definitly mainly because of Natalie Portman. You're 100% right about Bale being great but not in it nearly enough and tonally didn't fit into the movie. Felt like a 2nd Phase MCU movie in a way that it had very little consequences, not much changed in the grand scheme of things start to finish. I think this is sort of because Chris Hemsworth Thor has been around for over 10 years now and has gone through so much of an arc already that there's not that much left to do. Entertaining yes, needed to happen, nah.

Although, personally...I really love this movie, I can definitely understand your points of view, Sean. Like you said, the God Butcher villain didn't make sense for a film that was going to focus so much on slap stick and over the top humor. It's like in Wonder Woman 1984. You have Barbara Minerva become the Cheetah...ONLY to have Diana NOT fight her the final batttle?? And why have Diana put on sacred battle armor if she had NO INTENTION OF BATTLING?? And like Wonder Woman 1984, I can see what the writers and director were trying to do with the character and I really appreciate it. But it doesn't work. I agree...THOR Love and Thunder makes Thor a blonde muscle bound buffoon, and secondary in his own movie.

though I know this film is not perfect, for me it was a very good time!!! the heavy comedic presence worked imo because of how dark some of the latest MCU entries have been (MOM, Eternals), and right now with the state of the world I just wanted something fun that I could watch and laugh my ass off to lol. seeing thor and the GOTG, for a bit of time at least, was awesome and the romantic scenes between Jane and thor (also Gorr and his kid) were shot beautifully imo. again, I completely understand how many may not love this movie, but for me it worked and was one of my fav Marvel additions of this year.

I totally agree with you on all your talking points. I have this movie very low in my Rankings. The only thing I would disagree with you on is the Thor gaining the ability to enchant the hammer. When Odin passed away, Thor gained the Odinforce which leveled him up. This is why he could go toe to toe with Zeus. Odín enchanted the hammer in the exact same way in the first movie. So Thor should have the ability to enchant the hammer. Now I do agree with you that HOW they did it which is silly AF. And him passing his powers to the children is totally lazy and inconsistent.

I think Taika kind of treated this project more like a painting than a movie. You can easily get the sense of each visual theme and tone as if they take up predetermined space on a canvas. Like Gorr himself is surrounded by the bleeding out of color. each set had such distinct variety and bursted with color and detail. You’ve got to sort of watch it like the speed racer movie, and not an mcu film. Also the cg was noticeably below standard.

i get a lot of your complaints, but i want to talk about your opinion on jane getting the hanmer. i do agree that it is an extremely lazy way to give her powers, no disagreement there. however it does make sense in the how. we know now that thor talks to his weapons as if they're his friends, so it makes sense that he would ask mjolnir of that in a casual conversation, i dont think he enchanted it on purpose, but that's definitely what happened. and we as the audience have technically known that you can change the fundamentals of the hammer just by talking to it. Odin did in the first thor movie, the only difference was that odin was a lot more shakespeareian about it. and yes that would have been useful in the other movies, but how would thor know thats all it takes to change the rules of the hammer?

My exact thought when he complained about that. Thor was just talking. He wasn't intentionally placing an enchantment. That seemed clear based on how he didn't really understand right away when Jane came back and she explained how the hammer called to her.

Completely on the same page as you when it comes to your worries and your feeling of superhero fatigue. I think this franchise worked so well for so many years before because each project felt SPECIAL. We had a break usually of around 4-5 months between each Movie to allow us time to reflect on it and look forward to the next and build up our excitement and theories. The MCU NEEDS to be absent from our lives for a period of time for it to fully hit when its present again. Now, so much is getting rammed down our throat constantly between the shows and movies, burnout is inevitable. I honestly fear that the Disney Plus shows and having them connect so heavily to the main MCU could be the worst thing that ever happened to this franchise, and it all just feels like Disney ordering Marvel to create content so they can get easy subscriptions - even if the creative magic isn’t there for that content. Its stretching the studios creative resources thin and also means that Feige cannot be there to oversee it all, and it CANNOT be understated how big a problem that is as he is the mastermind that made this be as successful as it is in the first place. If Marvel wants to do Television properly and respectfully, I think they should have followed the Netflix era model - produce quality lengthy seasons and keep them in universe, but DON’T try so hard to tie them so closely to the Movies, and have a different creative team involved with Feige focusing solely on the Movies. Keep these shows exclusively for low street level stories and with no world ending stakes. That way, they are not essential viewing for the casual audience, and Movies will still feel like a special event and will feel more like the studio poured their heart and soul into them.

Thank you for pointing out they are just doing girl versions of all the other original characters I thought I was the only one who noticed and I was losing my mind. You hit the nail on the head when you talked about that trope being lazy writing even though it was technically "in the comics". I hope that the recent movies are not the direction the MCU is heading because I feel like they are consistently sacrificing writing for spectacle. I feel like what made the first 3 phases so great was that the writing and characters where handled with so much care and I feel like they don't even care anymore.

Super sad about this film. Thor is my favorite hero. I even love the first Thor movie and I’m less hateful towards Dark World than most. Ragnarock is one of my top MCU film. Love and Thunder was a total mess in my opinion. Thor has been reduced to a massive joke. It’s sad to see the character go in the route. The jokes didn’t land for me in this movie. The tone was simply “silly”. A plot that has someone dying of cancer and a man loosing his daughter shouldn’t be swamped in jokes. Bale doesn’t fit the film. Thor should be sophisticated to some level.

This movie was an over the top fun loving comedy. I get that some people are annoyed that it was too much but going into this you had to expect a romantic comedy with a messy plot line mixed in with some serious tense moments. You're right in saying Gorr's motivation opens up an interesting philosophical question that just wasn't ultimately explored. I feel like with phase 4, marvel has said "ok here’s what all the characters from before are up to, ok here’s some new characters and what they’re gonna do, ok here’s how the universe is expanding, cool cool see you in phase 5 for the BIG STUFF". They clearly have ambition, and I’m sure this is leading to something grand and massive, but to do that, they clearly feel the need to quickly establish what’s happening before we get into our next exciting saga. And when I say quickly, I mean they spend a few years rushing out project after project to keep viewers' attention (and covid certainly hindered that even more). And the fact that they barely connect with each-other universe wise, combined the obvious amount of cuts that have had to be made to keep the train moving, means that everything is just not that interesting anymore. I really like most of these projects individually, but without an Avengers-style central hook to keep things flowing, they’re nice but not exciting like the Infinity Saga was. Ah well. They’re announcing what the big saga will be very soon, so maybe that’ll keep the hype going

I definitely enjoyed this movie, my theater was cracking up. But it was totally inconsistent. I would have loved a rom com movie and a Gorr-focused essentially horror movie separate from one another. It was inconsistent in that regard and a lot of the characters weren’t fleshed out a whole lot
@calebbandy51962 жыл бұрын
I actually agree with the “making a female version of every avenger being lazy” idea, even though I loved this film, however I think Jane is actually the one exception because for one, she’s now dead, I know they’ll bring her back eventually because nobody ever stays dead in the mcu, but if they had Jane in this and made her the same scientist who is only there to say exposition I’d be bored to death with that, and that’s a waste of Natalie Portman’s talents, whereas in this film, her relationship with Thor works better than it ever has, and she’s one of the gender swap heroes I genuinely love! Her and Valkyrie both I find badass. I really loved the closure we finally got from this, and I love the idea of Thor being a father finally. I think Ragnarok is still the better film just minus a villain as great as Gorr like this one has, but I respect your opinions as well. For me it’s a solid 9.2/10, It’s in my top 5, but Taika is my favorite director and I haven’t really hated any of his films and the fact Love and Thunder is Ragnarok dialed to 11 made me love this because aside from Guardians, no other film has this quirky humor and finds a way to remain entertaining even through exposition heavy scenes. Idk, just my opinion. I don’t think this film is anywhere CLOSE to being as bland and boring as The Dark World. Sure, Thor may be a doofus now, but he’s more relatable than he was in the first two films with his, “Thoust, would’st could’st” dialogue, you gotta find a way to make it more approachable and relatable to modern times and I love the way Taika has adapted Simonson and Aaron’s runs.

I don’t mind Thor’s new ability to give people the power of Thor HOWEVER, I do think a scene in the beginning where Thor somehow learns of this ability is necessary (like maybe at some point Thor gets a vision of Odin who teaches him of this power, or maybe Jane had read about it and tells Thor of it) That way the audience knows of it and the ability doesn’t seem convenient in the third act

I watched for the jokes and color so I enjoyed the movie. Gorr was hands down one of the best villains in the MCU Top 5 I'd say. To me, the main issue with Love And Thunder can essentially be simplified into the fact that the movie seems to be in conflict with itself. Like, it's a goofy movie with a Rom-Com tone that is also doing two storylines that are very dark and tragic. Like, we have a villain who has this very dark and tragic character arc and we have Jane Foster's story which is very tragic, but they are in a movie with screaming Goats and this overall goofy tone. I mean, Gorr feels like he's in a completely different movie and Jane's cancer storyline was done disrespectfully, in my opinion. I also felt that Thor's arc was very disappointing to me. The idea of Thor having to come to grips with his depression and loss, but the arc is almost treated as a joke. Like, the movie is laughing at him. And, the forcing of the Thor/Jane romance is not done well. I think what bugs me the most is the extreme missed potential of the film. This could have been a phenomenal movie if done well, but it ends up being somewhere between a mixed-bag and a failure for me. It's a movie that doesn't know what it wants to be and it may be the biggest missed potential in the MCU, in my opinion. I feel like the movie will be remembered as the Marvel movie that wasted Christian Bale in what could have been one of the best and most impactful Comic Book movie villains of all time.

@Condor7215 Of course. Jane still looked and acted like a healthy person. Like, why does she still have hair and is still pretty? She has stage four cancer...I just felt that it wasn't a very accurate and tasteful portrayal of someone suffering from that horrible disease. She doesn't even seem like she's being affected until she starts using the hammer. If they didn't want to make Natalie Portman not pretty, they could have just given Jane stage 1 cancer and then have the Hammer the progress the cancer rapidly until it kills her, but they didn't do that. I just personally found it tasteless and a bit disrespectful.

Very thoughtful explanation of what works and what doesn’t Sean and I 100% agree with them all. To me this film should have been a Trilogy. Part 1 is a joke filed space adventure alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy until it takes a dark turn at the end when Thor hears about Gor and the threat he poses. Part two is a running battle across the universe between the two where we actually SEE the Gods being destroyed and the negative effect on worlds and cultures, perhaps finishing with Mighty Thor arriving ready for the team-up movie in part three where Thor has to accept (as Captain America told Wanda in Civil War “Sometimes you can’t save everyone”. Gor finds the wish stone but by then has seen Thor fight to save worlds and protect everyone, even when it means he will lose Jane. That makes Gor plead ask for his daughter back and to, once again, trust in Gods and ask for Thor to product his daughter. Thor realises he doesn’t want glory or war, but someone to love and need him which is exactly what this frightened little girl represents. Perhaps the end credit would include an indication - unseen by Thor - that the girl had dark powers and we wonder if she will turn to evil as she grows up. Just my five cents worth!

1. #GoSupportLoveAndThunder 2. I genuinely enjoyed watching this movie. Yes, Ragnarok is better, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. Would definitely watch again. 3. I guess, for me, I'm easily entertained when it comes to the MCU, especially Phase 4. Again, regarding Phase 4 and future projects, I'm at the point where I'm going to appreciate what I'm getting from the MCU. Why? Because, I guess I'm preparing myself for when the MCU truly ends. I want to be there when it happens, not abandon ship due to feeling "burned out" or fulfilled by Endgame. Yes, I understand it's illogical to think that way, but that's my feeling on it. 4. Yes, I feel like the MCU is currently directionless. But, I think it's for a reason, with that being that something is coming down the line, and we have to be prepared for what's coming instead of crapping on it for "having nothing". 5. Yeah but the gods being a joke is a reflection on Gorr’s experience. Like the gods are supposed to be some big important beings, omnipotent, all loving, but when it turns out they’re not, they’re a big joke and Zeus refuses to help Thor, it’s gives perspective on where Gorr’s motives come from.

In regards to your thoughts on Phase 4 Sean, I can understand why you’re feeling that way, but I wouldn’t give up hope just yet (I know that’s not what you said but just generally speaking here). I think Quantumania is gonna be the film that REALLY recaptures people due to Kang’s involvement in the film. I also think Wakanda Forever could because I’ve heard speculation that one Dr. Doom MIGHT debut in the post credits of that film, along with the knowledge of knowing the F4 themselves are coming soon. The F4 alone and all their supporting characters alone are enough to push the MCU forward for a decade. So until we see Quantumania and how the F4 are handled, I encourage people to stick it out with the MCU for now. But if we get to that point and the F4, along with Dr. Doom aren’t handled well…. Then yeah, THAT would be troublesome

Maybe not bottom-tier MCU but definitely below average. The problem with this movie is that it had a number of great things going for it and it was fairly fun. But that humor completely messed it up and made it (so far) the only MCU movie that felt like a spoof. It also pissed me off (and probably a lot of people) how it completely disregarded character continuity and basically threw out whatever character development Thor already got from all the previous films. It was pretty much a character assassination of Thor, and I think that's what really pained fans. The humor is bad but could be overlooked. But making Thor into an absolute joke? Unforgivable. Actually you know what, for the sheer irreverence this movie showed to their characters, yeah it deserves bottom tier.

I loved the ending and the action was good. and the plot was cohesive and made sense. Very good but not top tier Marvel movie IMO.

Saw it this morning, my main criticisms involve butchering the butcher, unbalanced tones, too much humor taking away from some serious moments, humor felt rather bland, cheap, and forced, everyone is worthy now, felt no stakes all throughout, and the ending felt rather unearned and out of left field. With that though it’s still an entertaining movie with nice action sequences, and Chris and Bale are standouts. It’s just not the best MCU has delivered. Final score: 5/10
@NinthShinigami2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to post my more in depth thoughts of the film on here so here they are. Sorry it’s quite long. This film was easily a mixed bag for me. I’ve said before that Ragnarok’s comedy (while a bit annoying) still hit, and got a few good laughs from me. LAT’s humor felt so forced and cheap, and was more annoying than in Ragnarok imo. Another problem that carried from Ragnarok: the comedy took away from the serious moments. Were there some serious scenes? Maybe like two. Everything else that was meant to be taken seriously, was undercut by some cheap joke. The tonal differences between having a slapstick comedy and a serious villain like Gorr did not work well for me. If Thor LAT was trying to do something like Deadpool or The Suicide Squad, it failed spectacularly. Gorr also felt like such a wasted villain for me. Ironically, they butchered the butcher. The stakes weren’t there for me either. For someone whose title is “The God Butcher”, I wasn’t feeling it. Congratulations, you killed one god on screen, but a few more off screen. Remind me again how worried I should be for our heroes when the villain has barely shown us how much of a real threat he is? Then he also got talk no jutsu-ed by Thor (which seems to be happening a lot nowadays with Wanda, Ikaris, and Wenwu) Lastly, and I really don’t care if this complaint seems petty, or if it was in the comics, but Jane being worthy for the reason given (love promise… really?) did not bode well with me. Was it a nice message? Sure. Was it a nice excuse for her to all of a sudden be worthy and carry Mjolnir? No. No it was not. Apparently everyone is worthy now. There was still some things I liked tho. Chris played his part as the second best god of thunder as he always does, and Bale was great (even if Gorr wasn’t in it much; alas Bale gave it his all and it shows). The whole Thor and Love thing (while a bit unearned and out of left field) was a nice little concept to be introduced for Thor. The action sequences were pretty cool, your standard MCU fight scenes. After this film tho I am officially done with the MCU and the only Marvel branded film I plan to watch is Across the Spider-Verse and any future movies surrounding the animated Spider-Verse films. Thank you MCU for Infinity Saga, Iron Man, and Captain America, but I’m off at this stop…

I actually don’t get the critiques. This movie was incredible. Seriously loved every second. And it passes the wife check, it’s hard to get her to enjoy an MCU movie she must tags along. But this one had her interested and engaged!

I agree a storyline about cancer and a dark villain who kills literal Gods did not fit the best in this movie. I also couldn't agree more with what you said about the question everyone has about God(s) and evil in this world co-existing. I had the same exact thoughts after that opening sequence.

I agree with you. And the thing that bothers me is that Taika wrote and directed Jojo Rabbit, which was able to balance comedy and serious subject matter, and I thought he could’ve done the same thing here, but he went way to much into comedy.

Loved the film. Maybe a bit too much comedy and having such a serious villain in such a comedic film didn't work and match. The Olympus and Zues stuff wasn't interesting or exciting. Gorr and the kids was a bit dark and it should have shown Janes family and friends reaction to her death. It was odd they didn't show them but apart from that I liked everything else. The chemistry between Thor n Jane was great and it was great to actually see flashbacks of how their relationship played out. The way Jane got powers could have been done better but I don't have a problem with it, I didn't mind it really. The film had emotion, great music and great action. Lots of unexpected moments in a good way like when you thought, Zues, Valkerie and Korg died, plus Hercules at the end which was awesome. I didn't expect Jane to die at all and to see Heimdall at the end but a big smile on my face. And of course the best thing about the film was Gorr. Christian Bale gave an incredible performance. The villain was easily one of the best Marvel's villains, not just because you understand his motivations but also because he is so scary, creepy and dangerous. And I liked how Thor has a child now. Certainly not as good as Ragnarok but it's close

My main complaint with Ragnorok was that EVERYTHING ended in a punchline or serious moments that we didn't have time to sit with. I'm always critiquing the MCU films, but I felt that Gorr created a serious threat and someone who you sympathize with. It was actually my favorite Thor movie. I was never bored and felt that it told a good story of where Thor is right now in his life Good -Jane Foster was fantasitc -Christian Bale was a top tier villain -The comedic timing felt good for me when it was appropriate -Soundtrack and music choice was entertaining and made it fun -Addressing the popularity of the Avengers and how it affected New Asgard Bad -The creating a child army was weird -GOTG barely being in it 5 minutes felt misleading like Sean said -Thor acting like a dad at the end felt weird -Zeus felt like a Taika caricature and it was cringe -Thor was joking around too much when he was supposed to be in a battle so it felt annoying

Asguardians of the Galaxy - While their scenes were extremely limited unfortunately I really did enjoy their scenes. Its just a shame we'll probably never properly see the Asguardians of the Galaxy together again they had so much potential thet will likely now sadly never be utilised. Gorr the God Butcher - Gorr was such an interesting and creepy villain I loved his scenes! Christian Bale also knocked it out of the park with his performance. I kind of wish Gorr was in it more but I am satisfied with what we got Jane Foster/Mighty Thor- I have mixed feelings about Mighty Thor. If given the right time I would've been a big fan I think but she wasn't given it for obvious reasons and she created quite a few awkward moments I wasn't a fan of. I don't hate Mighty Thor but she couldve been a lot better. How she got her powers was just huh? That was so lazy. Jane's death broke my heart though I was NOT ready for that especially as I thought we'd see this storyline over multiple projects. Thor - I honestly really like Thor as a comic relief character so liked him in this movie - I do much prefer him as a deep character but I do also love his comic relief side too, I just hope someday they can strike a good balance between the 2. I will admit they went a little too far in parts though which is why we need a good balance Final battle - I think it was a good final battle but adding in the new thing where kids can get the power of Thor? That wasn't handled well if it was explained how it could be done and made sense it'd be cool but it never was established so it was messy :/ Ending - I really like that Thor has a kid now I'm interested in seeing where this will take his character in future projects. Post Credit Scenes - I felt like in this movie they really wasted the gods so seeing this first post credits scene made me happy i can't wait for what's to come. As for the 2nd post credits scene no opinion it simply just exists Overall I really enjoyed this movie but it did have quite a fair few flaws too. 7/10

I think yours is the opinion with which I agree most, except I'm pretty sure in Thor 1, Odin sets up that it is mjolnir that bestows people with the power of Thor no?

I liked it, but it’s hard to separate being disappointed about things from dislike of the whole product. It was thoroughly entertaining, but still left something of a sour taste from missed potential. Still, two enjoyable hours of my life I’d never regret having spent watching. So it’s tricky to give it a proper verdict…

Phase 4 would be much better overall if there were less disney plus shows and they just releas them as movies as a slower pace.

Just got back from the theatre and I really enjoyed the movie. I went in fully expecting a comedy and taking it lightly. I was disappointed that they killed of Jane as I was exited to see her in the future of the mcu and think that they just shouldn’t of introduced her. I also never like how at the end all the kids got super powers. I would of loved it for any other super hero movie because I did in shazam but I think they ruined the whole “worthy” aspect
