... the thing is ....musical greatness must not necessarily be reduced to a simple and crude question of greater or lessor .... but ... rather ... to what degree did the music being listened to penetrate the soul of the listener and to what effect ... when it comes to the arts ... why must the "stench" of competition always attempt to assert itself above any and all other considerations related to the arts? Might it not have something to do with the inadequacy that exists within the lives of those who insist upon competition as a measure of success?

Bee gees fun fact... what do these 3 massive #1 hit's by the Bee Gees ( Tragedy, Too Much Heaven & Shadow Dancing) all have in common? Not only were they all #1 hits from 1979 but they were all written on the same afternoon! it's crazy when you even think about how talented these 3 brothers were!! The harmonies & Barry's falsetto are second to none! There will never be another group like this again........EVER!

Barry Gibb had a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon. Barry said he just discovered Notes has Numbers. He said none of the Bee gees could read music. They were not trained and did not know that they were not suppose to be able to harmonize at certain pitches. He said they all would try to match sounds around them or if one brother started a sound the others would try to match it. He said they recorded the music first and then wrote Lyrics on the spot in the studio. Sometimes one Brother might have an idea. He said they were very spontaneous.

I'm like that with meters, people seem to be able to break things down into time signatures but I just hear the rhythm, so when people get lost listening to someone like Tool I'm just in the music already and don't get why they need to number it out for it to make sense. I mean, written music was transcribed after people knew music, as instructions to tell people remotely how to play it, so starting with written music first seems naturally backwards for humans I think.

The Bee Gee’s wrote & released Too Much Heaven in 1978. It was already topping charts world wide when they performed it, Jan. 1979, for The United Nations Children's Fund fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated all royalties and the publishing rights, making them the 1st band to make such a donation to charity. So, UNICEF gets paid, not just from sales of the Bee Gee’s version, but from any covers or other use (any version used in commercials, movies, TV, etc). The last official tally I saw was 2011, saying UNICEF had received more than 10 million British pounds from it, for emergency food & healthcare. Elsewhere someone said it hit 20 million as of 2019 (but I haven’t found an official source for that).

God gives some people gifts. The Bee Gees were given the gifts of harmony, songwriting, being able to play many instruments (although not always on stage), creativity, and just wonderful voices. Dancing naked in the kitchen, lol, the grease from the pans would burn you pal, think I'd pass on that. The shower is safer and makes you sound better when you sing, lol. Fun fact: they got in trouble for theft and arson as young kids and a cop suggested that their parents migrate to Australia, and that's how they ended up starting their recording career in the down under. They sang in clubs and anywhere they could get work. Eventually getting on tv still as kids in Australia. When the Beatles hit they decided maybe they would be better off back in England and got a steamer headed back, working as entertainment for their fairs. On their way they found out they finally got a number one on the Australian charts with "Spicks And Specks".

You have just scratched the surface. The first time The bee Gees acted as the Bee Gees was in 1958 where they came up with the name. Since then they have had 22 studio albums, the last one in 2001. Maurice died in 2003 and Robin in 2012. The songs you reacted to is from their R&B/Disco with the falsetto period from 1975 to 1979. They are so much more than that. Try a song from their early periode like "To Love Somebody (1967)", "IStarted A Joke (1967)", "Words (1968), "I've Gotta Get A Message To You (1968)" or "First Of May (1969)". Or maybe songs from their later period like "You Win Again (1987) "One (1989)", "Alone (1997)", "For Whom The Bells Toll (1993)" or "Wedding Day (2001)" They have written more than 1000 songs between them so there is enough to look into.

Actually, that is incorrect. The group was first known as "The Rattlesnakes" and then later local Australian DJ Bill Gates (not that one) renamed the brothers' group to the BG's (later changed to 'Bee Gees') after his, speedway promoter Bill Goode and Barry Gibb's initials. Thus, the name was not specifically a reference to 'Brothers Gibb', despite popular belief.
@beegeesbuster14 жыл бұрын
@@snowflakehunter You are partly correct because it was in the UK before they went to Australia that they called themselves Rattlesnakes. When they went to Austrailia and meet Gates and Goode they found out there was a lot B and G's around (also Barbra Gibb and Barry Gibb) so they settled for BG's as can be seen on the clothes from video's from that time. They as you said the corrected the name to Bee Gees which they later in interviews said that it also could stand for Brothers Gibb but it was not how it started. But never mind we essential agree so no worries :-)
