I ended up DNFing this at about a quarter of the way through, but even with only making it that far I could not quite tell if we were supposed to have figured out the "reveals" that far in advance or if the Legrand was severely underestimating the reader's savviness.

I got to the end of part one and put it down for something else. While there was nothing wrong as such,it just wasn't grabbing me the way I wanted. I do plan to pick it up and finish it soon. Your review has me hopeful that the story picks up in the second half 😊

Okay, this just hits all the buttons. The magic system, the dual perspective separated by a huge gap of time, witnessing where history becomes Legend... yep, I'll show up for that. Then you intrigued me about the romance. I normally find romance to be so meh. But when you mentioned birth control and consent - seriously there is nothing sexier than being fully sexually responsible and empowered Hell yes!

So I’m about a 65 pages in and I’m struggling with understanding the book. I feel like the author is giving us too much information at once. Having dual POV’s that are flipping back n forth is confusing in some areas. I understand the time line (partly), but there’s just a large amount of information given to us at once. Telling us the seven elements of power, the saints, the angels, the churches, the political standpoints in the different worlds is confusing to me. I normally don’t struggle with understanding books but Furyborn is really testing me. It’s not the fact that the plot line is hard it’s the fact that there’s so much going on at once and I feel like it could be spread out better, but as I said I’m 65 pages in. I really want to enjoy Furyborn so I hope I can get into it

Okay, when you mentioned angels I did feel my eye twitch - but then you said grim dark and grimdark is my jam. Now I am undecided. I might have to wait for the hype train to die down before I take this up. I need to make my expectations realistic. Maybe wait until the second one comes out.
