I've used this board in our server and in our A.I./M.L. workstation. It barely fits in the Lancool 2, and with a couple A6000s it looks smallish. The server I stuck in the GGF version of the V3000+. Super sexy for a server ;)

It may be unaffected in Intel configuration. Intel offers 20 PCI lanes, and for Z790 communication using the Intel proprietary DMI link, so in the case that only the first PCI slot and top SSD slot are occupied, the GPU stays on x16 configuration with the M.2 SSD on x4 in the first slot totalling those 20 lanes . But is worth to know and take into consideration on a new build or adding new hardware. I had a look to my friend's PC build on Z790 chipset. The Intel core i9-13900k has 1x16 PCI lanes Gen 4 or 5 for the GPU slot and 1x4 gen 4 for the M.2 SSD slot, so 20 total. What for the Z790 chipset, it runs via Intel DMI link so the GPU seems to be unaffected by placing the M.2 SSD in the first slot. I will have look into AIDA64 during the day to confirm the info. People should consult their motherboard manual for optimal configuration.

I do 3d animation with visual effects. My chassis is the Thermaltake Core w200 with 2X Thermaltake core P200 pedestals (top and bottom). I am a bit tight on funds. My question is..should I simply go for this board or fork out a bit more and get the WRX90e-sage? Is there a bigger advantage having pci-e 5.0?

14900k should be an improvement over the 13900k as it just the same cpu but improved efficency. I had the 9900k which was a beast at the time to keep cool and now the 12900k which also is a beast to keep it cool but my aio has managing well considering how old it is. all you need is some undervolting and nto let your motherbaord push stuipd voltage like 1.5v through.

A- That would be expensive. B- Standard desktop CPUs that you'd use for gaming are generally better at single core. Most games only use around 4-6 cores and sometimes 8+. That being said the threadrippers extra cores are useless. A relatively modern i7/i9 or R7/R9 or X3D CPU will smoke a threadripper or xeon in gaming most of the time.

@@Born_Stellar you know problems with these small fans is that in 3 or 4 years it will break down and it will start to make terrible noises (like 60 decibels or so). Eh, these TRX boards are very disappointing to me. Where are all the true enthusiasts boards, where is the Asus Zenith II/III extreme? None of these boards really do what I want them to do, not enough dims, no D.2 NVMe, not enough slots for NVMes, the PCIe slot layouts are odd and I know it doesn’t matter that much but these boards are ugly, when you are paying $1k+ for a board, it should look nice!
