I had 2 Huskies. It’s true, Huskies are not easy to train nor take care of but absolutely loving and fun to be with. I just wish people who decide to get a Husky, do their homework first. These dogs are stubborn. Even if you tell them 10 times no, they will still do it. It’s not because they’re not trainable, it’s because it’s an adventurous highly energetic dog who just wants to play and explore. The more you tire them, the happier they are. This is not a dog for a couch potato family.
@MissBellaMe2 ай бұрын
Sounds like my two Bichons, minus the couch potato part lol. I, too, wish that people did research on certain breeds. Bichons are notoriously difficult to potty train, and are extremely sneaky. That's the number one reason why they end up in shelters: because they are too hard to potty train. Just when you think they've got it down...a surprise is waiting for you in your bedroom slippers.

Huskies are bred to be independent. They need to make independent decisions as members of the dog team. Especially the lead husky. So there's no wonder if they don't want to obey their owners easily.

I had 2 huskies. We came up with a motto for our boy husky. "No is only temporary." The girl would talk back to us if we told her something she didn't like. I could swear I heard one or two husky curse words in those tantrums.

Thanks for the advice. Explains my friends dog. Shes so finny, personality plus, talks all the time, argues. We don’t mind it. Her spirit is magnificent. But she talks over people at other times and not in the fin way she normally does. Sge IS like a caged wild animal- not enough exercise. My friend got her accidentally as a puppy-my friend’s housemate got her, then he promptly up and d. My friend got the dog by default. It turned out great for my friend-the pup was the impetus she had needed to leave the city and the grind and take the risk she had always wanted to take, to live on a country property. But my friends back broke. She used s walker now. Life is so random. Si beautiful Jacky-dog has dog walkers go around the block a few times. But it’s not enough. Jackie is 9 now. Loves her human and is crazy protective. So we wont re-home her. But its sad to watch her working spirit not get to work. Thanks though, for the confirmation of what i thought was wrong with our little mate

California has one of the highest kill rates in the country. Lee Asher of Asher House is frequently highlighted on the Dodo channel. He has rescued a couple of hundred dogs this year alone from California euthanasia lists and had them transported to his rescue in the Northwest. There have been many Huskies but also Shepherds, Great Danes and other big dog breeds. I don't know what is going on in California but it is a dark place for dogs in need of rescue.

I first rescued a husky/chow mix who was a perfect dog and I couldn't understand why people were saying they were so challenging. Four years later I rescued another 18 month old husky as a companion to my husky/chow. Well, that's when I had the awakening. In the first three weeks, nearly every day I had a new reason to think about returning him to the rescue. But after those three weeks, I decided for better or for worse, he was my dog and we would figure it out. Now he's 14 years old and he's my wonder dog. No regrets. So many rewards.

Too many people watched Game of Thrones is why there are so many huskies. They are very smart and many think that means they are easy to train. Smart dogs are often harder to train because they can be very stubborn since they want to do what they want to do. And they shed a ton. Years after our husky passed I was cleaning behind an appliance I had cleaned before, but this time a white tuft of hair came out. It is sneaky hair and hard to fully capture. That said, I miss our conversations. Just look online - they love to chat.

I constantly see lost Husky's on Pawboost or up for adoption in my area. I think people don't understand their energy level and what it entails to care for them and instead, get them for superficial reasons - because they are beautiful and have gorgeous eyes. It sickens me how many animals are euthanized because humans don't have their act together.

Huskies are the most high energy independent wild dog breeds I ever experienced. They will gladly run away from their owners for a few days. Go live in the woods like they are born in the wild. Then come back to the owner and greet everyone with kisses. Despite this wild nature they can be trusted to play nicely with human babies and other dogs they never met before. I guess they are the equivalent of human hippies?

The situation of Huskies in shelters is generally because people see the Tik Tok's of Huskies "talking" and acting "funny". They don't appreciate that the breed needs strong handling. Then, when they can't control them, they take abandon them, or take them to the shelter! Before I got my Rhodesian Ridgeback (I still miss my beautiful boy), I read up on everything I could about the breed. People need to realise that, apart from every dog being an individual, different breeds have different qualities. I just wish people would think a little more about the animal before deciding to get one. xxx

Huskies are also escape artists and will run away into the wild if not trained properly and given the opportunity.
@normalaird82622 ай бұрын
@@robertsteele474 Doesn't surprise me! They are so independent and need firm handling, but like any dog, trained right and they can be beautiful, loyal, fun-loving pets. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are often described as having an "arrogant" attitude and, although he was just the Best Dog I could ever have wished for, I can see why the literature said that. I used to dog-sit his mother (my friend was her owner), so I was used to handling Ridgebacks, but I had no intentions of getting one myself, until I helped my friend when his mother was whelping - I caught him, as he was born, and the rest was history. I still read up everything I could before I became his owner, though! xxx

Those foster guardians did good work. Once you have missed the socialisation window, it becomes so hard to make them not afraid of humans and enjoy indoor life. Even more so with cats, but it's not easy with dogs either, especially with a breed as smart and as stubborn as Huskies. It is also very important work, because the alternative to taming them is really bad.
