Jerry (Casey Siemaszko) approaches Buddy (Richard Tyson) in the men's bathroom and gets himself into a showdown at 3 o'clock.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The first feature film from director Phil Joanou (State of Grace), Three O' Clock High chronicles a high school nerd's much hyped after-school bout with the infamous class bully. When the impish Jerry Mitchell (Casey Siemaszko) is assigned to interview the new transfer student with a supposedly violent past, Buddy Revell (Richard Tyson), he makes the fatal mistake of touching his subject. Revell, who hates being touched, responds by challenging the unwilling Mitchell to a fight at three o'clock in the parking lot. Spanning the course of the school day, the film follows the disaster-bound Mitchell as he soils his good-boy image through various misguided attempts at averting the fight. Also making noteworthy appearances in the film are Jeffrey Tambor and Philip Baker Hall.

If you look at most yearbooks of the 80s , kids (and the 70s) did look and act older back then than today’s little high schoolers. Yeah some younger looking 20something actors were cast but so were real teens. Back then there wasn’t much difference in appearance from late teens to early -mid 20s. Just look up old video yearbooks from the 80s. It’s obvious compared to today’s kids.

This is one of those films from back then, along with “Better Off Dead,” that are part of the backbone of 80's culture, and it makes me proud to have grown up during that time.

*When I was a child growing-up in Gotham City I was in a elementary school where there was at least one fight everyday at two time periods 12:00 PM (lunchtime) & mainly at 3:00 PM (prison release) anyway for years it wasn't always like that then all of a sudden the act of fighting far-less everyday started out of nowhere & then everyday at 12:00 PM & mainly at 3:00 PM the cops knew to come to the school because fights between students & students fighting random people outside will happen.*

Buddy wasn't a bully; the point of this film was standing up for yourself. Buddy just wanted to be alone and he is a lot brighter than the people who watched this film and did not give him credit for it. Buddy did not care about what people thought of him. He wanted to fight Jerry so he could teach Jerry how to be a man. In a later scene, he tells jerry( when jerry was trying to pay him off) "You didn't even try". When jerry grew some balls and decided that if he backed down, it would haunt him for the rest of his life. Thats why when jerry won, Buddy respected him and gave him back the money. This film is extremely underrated. We all needed a Buddy in high school because we would have learned to stand up for ourselves later on in life. Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone:)

He was a psycho. Jerry was just trying to be nice to Buddy not knowing he was very reclusive and didn’t want any attention or be touched. But Jerry was trying to be nice in an awkward nerdy way. For a guy twice his size to all of sudden say he has to beat the crap out of him because of some awkward friendly gestures is being a bully. Obviously he can beat him up. Buddy didn’t go out of his way to beat up Jerry but man if he really doesn’t want social interaction at all or to be touched in any way he needs to go live in the woods. He can’t live within a normal society. Or take some serious medication and therapy. Obviously this is a movie and I appreciate the character but he’s definitely a psycho.

Buddy isn’t really a bully in a traditional sense. He never singled out someone who appears weak and minding their own business. He’s just someone who wants to be left alone but at the same time has a extremely low tolerance for other people’s bullish:! Otherwise he seems like a cool dude. Anyone that can knock out a NFL player and wreck the whole library with one punch is a good guy to have on your side.

I went to high school with one of the writers, Tom Szollosi. Buddy Revel was based on one of my fellow classmates, BARRY Revel. Barry was a jock that was always getting into fights. I get a big chuckle out of this movie because Tom used some of our teachers names and student names as well as Barry.

There was a bully exactly like Buddy at my high school. His name was Blake, he a tall huge football player, and loved tormenting me and my friends. One day in 10th grade, I finally had enough and told him off in front of the entire class. Big mistake. He stared at me and said he was going to beat me up after school. I panicked and was anxious all day, just like Jerry. My friends offered to have my back but they were just as terrified. When school finally ended, I tried to walk home unnoticed - but then Blake grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and dragged me behind the school. I tried to apologize but he said I was dead. He punched me in my nose, mouth, eye, cheeks, jaw, ribs, stomach, and slammed me on the concrete ground. I was a bloody mess and staggered home. I’m 23 now and still have permanent jaw damage from that day. This movie reminds me a lot of that horrible day...but I wasn’t as lucky as Jerry was. 😣🤕

Clever film. By definition, Buddy is not a bully. A bully seeks out those he sees as vulnerable prey. Buddy is never the antagonist. He simply reacts aggressively when anyone fails to respect his desire to be left alone.
