Here's one... if a customer gave directions to an apartment, don't follow the pin, it'll typically lead you to ruin. Trust that the customer knows where they live. Always good to look those notes over before you get to the apartment,

As for the second mistake, I like to avoid it by hanging the order on the doorknob or handle and putting any drinks on the ground off to the side so the door doesn’t hit them. Works wonders, since in that case the customer doesn’t have to bend down either.

Mistake #1. Accepting a Popeye’s order Mistake #2. Accepting a Taco Bell order Mistake #3. Accepting a Wendy’s order when it is drive- thru only. Mistake #4. Accepting about anything else when it is drive-thru only. Mistake #5. Accepting an order from a popular sit down restaurant during peak business times. At least Uber Eats does not care if you abandon the order. As far as apartment go, it’s like Russian roulette. UN-friggin-believable. Why did I learn to count? Why did I learn my abc’s. I learned apartments last century. It’s a new century; throw out all the old rules and celebrate creative anarchy. Who cares about order? What is order? Who gives a dang about order. Write something about how you don’t care at all about order or anything else if you become an apartment designer. In fact you might want to declare outright hostility towards any order at all if you become an architect.

Luckily I live in a area where there are a loooot of homes. So I zoom in on the map, and if I see an apartment [Decline]. To many people in apartments(on 3rd floor always) that order food delivery, tip the worst. It's not worth the pay and hassle for gates and mapping a apt complex.

Huge apartment complexes in San Diego. And many, most, aren’t numbered in a logical way. I once spent an hour wandering a brand new building looking for the correct apartment. The customer could have met me, but they didn’t care to so their food was cold and very late. And the elevators were broken.

The number one "skill" I've developed while dashing is learning my way around the apartment complexes in my area. Being able to zero in on a specific apartment, versus having to figure out where I'm going makes a huge difference in how quickly I can complete my deliveries. For me, it means I'm able to move on to the next money-making order; for the customer, they get their food fresher. Everyone wins. Heck, even knowing my way around the curvy-street subdivisions helps. After over 1800 deliveries, nearly half the time I don't need to press the button to get directions.

1) I have two catering bags in the back hatch. For small orders like this, I use the second large catering back to brace the order. 2) My personal pet peeve. It is a huge issue in my market. I often see notes asking for deliveries not to be in front of door because it opens out. My personal door opens out and I HATE it when drivers put it in front of my door path. 3) How lucky are you. So many complexes in my area have numbers not in any kind of sequence. They build the first set and number those, then continue numbering for out-lying units in no sensible order. I so enjoy when things are in order, or better yet, customers mention their building number or which section of a complex they are in. I routinely park in some reserved space near where I'm delivering, figuring, it will take them longer to tow me than it will for me to get delivery complete and gone.

I don’t get a lot of soup dishes here in Pittsburgh but I got many more in SD. Don’t know what I was thinking for that pho run, never again! See told you everyone hates when that order is smack right in front of an outward opening door! And yes Pittsburgh is so different to massive SD. When I was out there that problem was MUCH more prevalent of where do I park, which building is it, much more walking etc

@@michaelsuzio4268I wanted to comment in agreeance but will say this. About the GPS (just tips): 1. Make sure you've oriented the phone compass. 2. Keep a Close Eye on that address (if using G-Maps). Sometimes it doesn't receive the data correctly or misunderstands the address sent to Maps. 2a: try and make sure the data on Maps is not engaged with another address. 3. About 50% of our deliveries are to apartments. A lot of times the Uber app will send us to the gate that only the residents can open with their clicker and it can add an extra mile of driving to go around to the gate with keypad access. Last night the app would not click on delivered because it said we were not at the location. More and more of the complexes do not have keypad access at the gates.

We are often given contradictory mutually exclusive instructions. When I was new, I tried to understand, what does the customer want when faced with 2 mandatory instructions that are opposite of one another. Because if the customer is happy, I won't get a complaint. But I have discovered some customers/merchants give us contradictory instructions so that when we fail to do one or the other, they get free food/merchandise & we get CV or deactivation. So I follow the merchant instructions first. When I get deactivated, it will be because I followed instructions, not the spirit of the delivery. I am getting more & more deliveries that cannot be completed as described because one set of instructions contradicts another. Support expects us to know the best path to choose, but will not have our back if we choose wrong in the eyes of the customer.
