love your projects 😀 a little tip when reupholstering is to carefully remove old fabric and use as the pattern to cut out the new pieces that way you know that they’ll fit nicely 👍🏻 & reuse the black bottom piece if you can

Doing the coat of lighter brown before the darker walnut was actually accidental genius because the insides of the glass now appear to have a different color inside. Looks so crisp.

a tip to the tip, haha!...i spray my furniture/fabric items with bug spray and let it dry in the sun, they spray it with lysol before i start. any cushions, i most definitely wash w/ hot water and soap, then let it dry outside in the sun for at least 2 days. if the cushion is detachable, after 2 days, i will throw in the dryer for about 30 minutes before completing the project. also, i like to add sprigs of either lavender, rosemary, lemongrass or potpourri before i seal it up. it adds a nice light scent to the item!

When recovering save the old pieces of fabric as a pattern. The chair turned out good. If anyone wants to sew a more shaped form you can pin material on outside in. Even hand sew with a bit thicker thread at side seams with buttonhole or upholstery thread. Turn back around and only have to staple or tack the bottom edge. But another helpful hint and for future recovering. Make a slip cover of a smoother lining type material to go over the foam then all future slip covering is easier. But beautiful job. I’m currently doing same. Learning to paint on class too. Supposedly chalk paint sticks. I don’t have a sprayer but looked up first what chalk is to learn how to make it. I gained a 2 car garage sized crafting room built by previous owner in our retirement move. Turned into my sewing studio. I have sewed all my life, 50 years, so now going to teach sewing locally. We moved from southern cal more inland but we actually now have a faster track to Los Angeles county so going to one day check out that thrift store on a trip. Always remade thrift items into clothing when no one called it recycle, upcycle or boho. We just called it being poor! Ha! Now want to branch out to other types of recreating. Painting, furniture, nature. I’m focused on totally recycle now.

Love the authenticity you bring to your videos. Like saying you thought it would take 10 minutes to remove the staples/fabric and it took 30. Little things like that are appreciated to show that these flips do take quite a bit of time and effort, beyond just the time it takes to watch. Wish I had your eye for potential. Seeing a piece in the thrift store and knowing what you could do with it and maybe even more importantly, knowing which pieces wouldn't work.

A heat gun works even better, there’s a crafters version too if you don’t want the big power tool size (but I did so that’s what I use, it’s also for work too though!). Also for disinfecting with sunlight- make a spray of water, vinegar, and lemon juice in a 3:1:1 ratio and mist that all over your surface before putting in sunlight for about 12-24 hours. This will completely disinfect, almost sanitize your surfaces (and it’s how we clean our mattresses yearly!)

I used to do a lot of volunteering with the St Vincent de Paul organization in San Francisco. I live in Washington and would travel to their Soup Kitchen/Thrift store for homeless individuals, where we provided food, clothing vouchers, and also hair cut vouchers. I also did food deliveries to impoverished families here in my own home town. I started doing that in the 2nd grade! They do really great work. It was really neat to see you supporting a quality organization that does a lot for the marginalized people in their communities. And also, thank you for the ideas!

I go to DePaul University in Chicago! St. Vincent is our patron saint, we call him Vinnie, too. There's a statue of him on campus that we rub his hand for good luck on our exams!

Seeing you reupholster the chair was so helpful! I'm working on some dining chairs right now! Ngl, I did die a little when you grabbed a plastic bag at Lowe's for that one tiny item 😱😅

I hadn't registered the bag. I was sad she used the non-checker option. I always go to a checker - if we use the robotic self checkout aisle they will eliminate checker jobs if and when they can... + why am I checking myself out - that is a service I expect...

You can sanitize by steaming. Also some wood can have bugs and termites so use an insecticide so your home doesn't get infested.

Use Diamateous Earth. It kills all bugs. Its a mechnical killer. Meaning it cuts fine sloces into the bugs body andnthey eiyher blerd or dehydrate wtihin a few hours. Non toxic. Only thing to kill bed bugs that you dont need a pro for. But, kills all insects to my knowledge.

I love how these turned out! Curious to know if you find the paint chips on the glass? Because if not, I will definitely be doing this. Also - for reupholstering, when you take off the fabric, if you cut along the seams / seam rip it, then you could use that as a template for sewing a cover.. may make it easier? May also be a waste of time, lol

I’ve sprayed something glass before and it’s held up well, but these will definitely get more use so may be a different story. I will definitely keep you posted. For the reupholstering I think that’s definitely a great idea to use the existing fabric as a pattern for the new one!! Especially for the general size 🤗
