Buy a small notebook and keep it on the kitchen counter where both of you can write down anything you want to bring next trip. On the ride home go over what you think you’ll need for any projects you’ll be doing next time and write that down. At home keep tote bags that you’ll only use to go to & from the beach house and instantly put things into them you want to take next time. Always take a photo of what is in both the fridge & freezer before you leave the beach house. It only gets more confusing as to what is at which house as you make more & more trips.

I agree Amy . When I owned two homes, I also kept a list of what and what NOT to bring back. It was incredibly useful considering we only got to travel there 3 or 4 times a year.

First of all, we had a beach wedding many moons ago and we loved celebrating many anniversaries on the coast. The coast is a very special place. You & Pete are living the dream, we share in that dream. ~ When we built our addition to our home, pocket doors in the upstairs bathroom worked best for our design. I love the idea of a barn door, it will add character to your space. Also, those two columns @ $40.00 each is a bargain. Flanking the front door would be amazing. I totally would have purchased those. Love the solar lights on your deck, those lights are perfect. Enjoy your videos very much!!❤

A suggestion for you which I found so helpful from decades of trailer camping, and also packing up to go to our 'hunt' cabin for days at a time, is to create a checklist by category (food, tools, bedding, first aid, propane, etc., etc, - all the things.. Ours was different for summer camping in our trailer, and our Spring/Fall/Winter very 'rustic' cabin trips (generator & outhouse!)....and my husband created his own for all the work items/tools/gear he needed. It was a HUGE time and stress saver because nothing was forgotten. The list was revised over the years as needed and I'd make sure to put the revised date each time I made changes on the stored file. I typed mine on the computer and printed out copies, and although both my grown daughters use their smart phones for everything, they prefer to print out their lists too, and literally stroke off each item as it's packed. Another small suggestion when moving awkward or heavy objects like your mattress, is to put it on a one of those inexpensive green plastic tarps, and you can just pull your items easily across the floor without having to lift. One person can balance it and the other pulls. We've done that for years inside and outside. Outside for all the leaves and yard waste after raking instead of making a hundred trips with what a wheel barrow or garden container would hold. Makes the job a lot faster and easier. Just pull up the corners at the front, pull it to your dump pile area and it easily flips to empty. Love all the tiles you found and the beautiful wood pieces for beside your door!! GREAT find! Love watching the progress you and Pete are making. I was excited to see those beautiful rays of ethereal sunshine come in while you were sitting there too!! I'm so done with dismal winter days. :) ~M~

Great idea about the doorway for the bedroom and gaining some space for the bathroom. One thought I had as you were filling the holes, if you plan to put in a new door or doors from the outside, I’d plan on that now if you haven’t, because you may need to do them pre-hung, and you won’t want to get the rooms all finished and then decide to do it. It will be easier doing it now.

We live in a 800 sq ft house that was originally built as a Summer home only. It was never finished inside, so we always have projects since we live here full time. There was never room to have swinging doors on the bathroom or bedrooms. We opted for Bi-Fold doors and they have worked out wonderfully. They were easy to install and priced right. I watch you all the time and enjoy your excitement for everything. I especially love the interaction with your mom. I also have a small shallow dish with an applied frog on the inside and peeking out. Enjoy you and your family so much. Thank you.
