Cassie, I've watched your videos for over 4 years now and I want to offer you some friendly advice. You NEED to listen to your audience and have an open mind when you do. You asked for feedback in your last video and recieved lots of suggestions and constructive criticism on how you can develop your channel. I promise you these are not 'negative' comments. They are suggestions from your supporters who want to see you and your channel grow! If you continue to openly ignore/mock your audience's feedback, especially when you requested said feedback, then I'm afraid your views and subscriber count will continue to decline. None of us want this to happen! All we want is to help lead your channel into a new, successful chapter 🙂

thank you so much for the longtime viewership Miranda, truly I appreciate it more than words can express!! I completely agree that constructive criticism is to be taken positively and into consideration; just because I don't always follow said critiques though doesn't mean that I haven't considered it (or even implemented it! Videos may have been missed by the viewer who made the suggestion, it happens). Many of the video ideas that people have suggested on that livestream are ones that I actually have tried out in the past to diversify my content (i.e. what I eat in a day, vlogs, cooking videos, eyeshadow tutorials from Pinterest, etc.) but those videos, even though I agree are a fun addition to my usual lineup, tend to not do as well (getting 3,000-10,000 fewer views than normal). So just because I don't do those videos very often doesn't mean that I'm ignoring my viewer's advice/suggestions! I'm just making fewer of those videos because historically they do poorly. This particular video wasn't mocking people who gave me constructive criticism on my live stream.... you can see that this was filmed the same day that I filmed last week's mukbang (posted before the livestream, meaning this was filmed before that one was). As I said in this video, I was alluding to people who left a comment on my 'what I got for Christmas video' in an unhelpful manner (literally only commenting something along the lines of 'and she wonders why her channel is dying lol idiot'). I understand how it may seem like I was talking about my livestream comments, but that just wasn't the case! Anyways, sorry for my long response, I really did just want to try and clarify around some points that you made and also make sure that you feel heard. I promise: I'm not ignoring kind viewers like yourself who want to see me succeed and grow! I appreciate you and wish you all the best in return :)

@@thriftthick thank you so much for your thorough response! I know it's a really hard balancing act because you're trying to stay true to the ethos of your channel whilst introducing new ideas. People can interpret things differently and that's okay! It's what makes our society so diverse- it'd be boring if everyone thought in the same way! I'm sure that better things are round the corner. You've just got to keep trying until you find something that works and knowing how determined you are you'll get there soon!

Tough love here: stop making half ass content that involves little to no effort. Stop making excuses of “i wouldn’t even know how to start” figure it out. Look online do some research. There is no reason during this quarantine why your videos should have bare minimum effort. Ditch the stitch fix. You’re the main one complaining about not having money but Stitch fix, that’s supposed to be thrifting type of thing, has you spending almost $100 on a cardigan that you could get online for way cheaper. If your stitch fix videos get enough views that should tell you your audience is interested in “clothing” type videos (which NOT coincidentally is how your channel even started) so why not focus on still the thrifty no still clothes but ACTUALLY affordable clothes that your audience AND YOU could buy and relate to. There are so many things you’re overlookingStart taking your audience’s feedback and stop being so money hungry and “what will they say” type. If you love art then focus on art. That’ll push you to put out content you love and makes you happy and in return establish a loyal audience who also loves art and the content you put out. Put the “art and lifestyle videos don’t do good in my channel” aside and JUST TRY.

Hi Cassie. As a long time viewer, I just wanted to be honest and offer some hopefully helpful insight. One reason I've personally felt less inclined to view/ support this channel is that you openly support someone (Trisha) that has and continues to repeatedly damage and offend many groups of people (trans, Black, Jewish, DID). I remember you said in one video that you "just like her." However, that is not an excuse to ignore the things she's said and the hurtful actions she's done. For example, DID is already so misunderstood and horribly portrayed in the media and she is furthering that misinformation. I won't go into details but to give insight, children who are victims of incredible abuse can develop DID as a way to cope with the trauma. You advocate for mental health, yet you support someone who called someone with a dissociative disorder "crazy" while she claims she also has it. I'm not qualified to diagnose her, but it is clear that she does not understand how DID works. Many of your viewers either fall into one of the groups of people she's hurt or morally can not support the kind of behavior Trisha displays. While I would like to support you, I can't help but keep thinking of how you can support someone who has hurt so many. Honestly, it's mildly triggering for me to hear you mention her and because of that, it's always in the back of my mind when I watch your videos. I hope you can read this comment and gain some insight. This does not come from a place of hate but rather in hope that you might re-evaluate who you support and what kind of message that portrays to your viewers.

I felt most engaged with this channel when you were working on being healthier. Your mood was so much brighter and you seemed genuinely interested in engaging with your audience. I have very serious depression and anxiety so I understand how that can impact your work. But you said yourself a few vids back that you consider this job to be similar to customer service, and it is clear that the feedback and lack of engagement you are getting from your “customers” shows that you need to make a change. I think it is probably your anxiety that makes you read constructive comments as hate (sometimes I fall into this trap in my creative job as well and have to work on it a lot in therapy) and then that leads you to be snarky and condescending when speaking to your audience at times and it can be really off-putting. Just something to think about. I also think you shouldn’t just try a video once, see it get low views then give up on that type of video. If you do a what I eat in a day (just as an example), a few people might come to your channel and say “oh, she’s a beauty KZbinr who just did this as a one-off” and then not stick around. But if you make 3 or 4 what I eat in a day vids, those people might come, watch those vids, and enjoy your personality enough to stay and watch your other content. I started watching you for only your thrifting content but when I blew through those I started watching your other vids even though I don’t really care about makeup, just because I enjoyed your personality. But I have seen a slow decline in your interest in this work over the past couple years and I was so much more drawn to your channel when you seemed passionate about what you were doing. Also, I don’t mean to be rude with this and I am not anti-mukbang but those vids do seem kind of weird and uncomfortable and like you are only doing them in a desperate attempt to get higher views. I think you can find a good balance of what makes you happy and what makes your audience happy if you workshop it a little.

Hi Cassie! I enjoy all of your videos so I say keep doing what you're doing. BUT there's nothing wrong with mixing it up and also adding some new content. I know you've been in the dating pool and I think challenging yourself and discovering more about yourself could do wonders for your channel and life outside of youtube. Examples would be wearing clothes picked out by a stylist for a few days that you normally wouldn't wear, facing a fear of yours, trying anything new, getting your hair professionally done. It could be anything really. Stay positive and keep up the good work.

But mocking your subscribers' comments may not be the best way to open your video when you chose to bring up the state of your channel. Viewers were just trying to give you an insight into how their viewing preferences have changed and suggest how you could help yourself and your channel. If you're not open to suggestions, well and fine. But don't do that whole mocking bit just so you can justify your own upload choices which are well within your right anyway.

Cassie, I’m going to give it to you straight: it doesn’t matter what video you got the comments that you didn’t like. It is never a good idea to mock your viewers regardless whether their comments are constructive or not. You are the only one who knows when your video is filmed and controls the editing & uploading. People may not watch every video to know what you were wearing in another. Don’t assume that we do. We are your “customers” and without customers you won’t have a business. Another rule of customer service is “the customer is always right-even when they are wrong.” Treat your customers how you would like to be treated. I looked on Safiya Nygaard’s most recent upload as I know she hasn’t uploaded for a while, I expected to see some comments complaining as you would expect to see in Cassie’s comment section... Nothing, not one rude comment or complaint, there was mention of it but it was all very nice and civil. Why is that? Why do people think they have the right to be rude and then feel they need to be treated well in return? I understand your point about ‘the customer is always right’ and agree to some extent, but, where I am from if you entered a shop and called the sales assistant a ‘whining idiot’ for example, you could pretty promptly expect to be escorted from the store.

Hey Cassie, Im wondering what primer you use on your eye lids? Mine always get sooo oily and all my eye liner and mascara gets all over my lids through out the day and I haven't found a primer that works and would love to know what you use. Thanks! :) btw I've loved your channel for years and always am excited to watch your videos :)

I know this is an old comment but have you tried the Elf Eye Putty Primer? It is an amazing primer for oily lids since it's almost like a dryer putty. I don't wear anything else on my oily lids!

I love your videos and appreciate your honest recommendations. I have oily skin and sweat -easily- at the slightest bit of exercise (even a brisk walk) and my mascara (I've tried many) always runs and smudges, making me look like a racoon. Please recommend a good mascara for oily skin. TIA!

Hey Cassie :) love your hair getting more bounce to it over the year or so of your treatments. I wanted to make a friendly suggestion, to cut your hair a bit shorter in order to retain the volume on top and sides. The length may be weighing it down a bit. As a fellow thin hair girl I can tell you that my locks look a lot more luscious when I go shorter and I recall your hair looking fab when it was shorter as well.

Hi Cassie! Based on your recommendation, I tried the Milk Flex Concealer recently, and I really love it too. Since you mentioned your fear that this product may one day be discontinued, I wanted to tell you that it is currently on sale at Sephora, and so I ordered two in my shade...worried that the discount meant it is about to be discontinued! This may not be the case, but I wanted to let you know, should you wish to order some backups for yourself. Take care, and thanks for continuing to keep us company during these stressful times. :)

Something funky is going on with the video. I get up to the elf highlight and there's an ad. I pushed skip and it goes back to the beginning of the video. It probably seems contradictory, but with skin that tends toward oily, I still have to prep and hydrate my skin for foundation. I was stripping my skin back in the day due to the oiliness...which led to increased oiliness and major foundation problems, especially for drier formulations.

I’ve been watching your videos for years now...not sure how many years but 3+. Food shows or what you eat in a day are just going to cause you grief because food is an obvious sensitive subject for you (I say that based on comments you have made recently about people being mean or rude in the comments). You can only do so many makeup videos in a week...how many ways can you do your eyeshadow unless you are going to start going full face art like Linda Halberg (especially when we are all locked inside and no one is wearing makeup). You are going to have to do some Amazon finds videos or Etsy products you love (candles, art, home goods etc.) or redecorating a room videos or skincare 30 day trials etc. You are going to have to change it up...change is tough and you are going to have some misses along the way, but what you don’t want to do is talk about your view count or subscribers with your subscribers etc. (complaining about your work with customers is never going to be well received because it puts pressure on your customers and will cause them to lash out at you or stop being a customer...I was in the service industry throughout college and the quickest way to lose customers is to complain about work to your customers). Chin up my young friend...you are going to have to go big and invest more time (and maybe money) to push your channel to grow or it will start to wilt.

I think you seem like a really charming girl, who’s very pretty and intelligent. I just think that your channel could benefit from going in a new direction; keep an eye on new releases, popular releases that people want to see. Maybe modernise your set up to compete with the other bigger youtubers, maybe do more content in the real world? I don’t think living a life on social media can help anyone with depression or anxiety, you become closeted and shut away from the world.
