Top Gear level hyping a car without really explaining the fundamentals either. Like saying it understeers, but failing to mention that's because they cheaped out on the MacPherson struts. The M5 uses much more sophisticated double-wishbone suspension. Calling a strut-front/multi-rear a "fundamental sports car chassis" is just plain stupid. It's a luxury sedan with a heavy engine at the front that overpowers the front suspension and washes out. Because no matter how well you dampen a strut front, it's always a trade off. You spring it too soft, it will travel too far and change the camber angle (meaning your tire angle changes and you lose grip). Or you spring it too hard and every bump will upset the front. Which is why you go for double wishbone, as that will retain the wheel alignment even if the spring/damper is compliant. Sure you can have fun, but it's not meant to be a sports car, which is why GM knows not to put it up against an M5. Because it would mop the floor with this boat.

It was the best handling out of the 3 because it was based on the Vauxhall monaro (so was the Pontiac GTO), the Pontiac G8 was a near carbon copy of the Vauxhall vxr8, and the Chevy SS is the same thing considering the newer Vauxhall vxr8. The only reason these cars were good is because they used the chassis and technology already implemented by the Australians. That's what I meant if anything i said was misconstrued.

Only slower on straight line from a stop. I never cared for 1/4 mile. Plus in that lap you notice the the blackwing is leading the lap pretty much the whole lap except first few seconds and the last seconds

Yea according to Cadillac its supposed to be the track weapon. That’s one of the reasons it has the more aggressive aero. Also another thing when I went to the V performance academy in Vegas all the instructors drove the ATS-V.

I believe all the mounting points for the engine, suspension, front doors, etc. on the ATS/CT4 are directly copied from the Camaro, whereas the CTS/CT5 is lengthened and widened by a few inches.

@@adampetten5349 well the CT5-V Blackwing makes 668 to the crank, while the M5 Competition makes 617 to the crank, but loses a little HP through the driveline due to being AWD. The big number is ft lbs of tq though. The Blackwing has 659 ft lbs tq to the M5s 553! And the CT5-V is a 150lbs give or take lighter. 🤷‍♂️

Theses guys are level 10 clueless. Talking about chassis while saying it's good on ps4s tires. So dumb. Anyone says that you can control the rear with throttle is dumber than hell. Go to the limit and stab the throttle haha. I'd love to meet these guys at a track one day. It's on ps4s tires so you can't go beyond that. All these modern cars are level cause the tires. They all turn the same when grip is the same. Nobody calls them out because few actually race and push to the limit.

James is right about the visibility problem with the Camaro, I recently sold mine and one of the big reasons was I was sick of not being able to see anything, in the city it just makes every drive stressful.

GM really should have put the rear-camera mirror in the Camaro years ago (my son had a '17 Camaro and couldn't see out of it but he replaced it with a C7 Grand Sport with the rear-camera mirror and it makes a huge difference.)

Not really impressed with the looks. Usually these caddy's are always trend setting and looking luxurious and super sporty. Tbh, it looks like a Nissan Maxima with some carbon fiber trimmings.

Very good attempt at a review of a fantastic swan song of petrol by Cadillac. The car is simply brilliant, defying all conventional and progressive inertia to rid our history of these cars. It’s more beautiful than an m5 it looks better than the homogenous and common Mercedes progressive product. The reason they only put a couple blackwings is for those who have supercharged petrol in them who will pursue horsepower against fitting in to the Orwellian E automotive future. The Cadillac is brilliant, well thought, it moves you with al that carbon fiber and technology that are only a highlighted trim to modern over judged horsepower. It’s the final automotive middle finger to the eu who have decided leave the edges of piston tech and move to conformity. Each year Cadillac missed and fell short because of pressure from management who defunded the forward engineers and they pieced parts of other cars to make a common Cadillac special.. it didn’t work, until now. It’s a clean sheet, it’s a car that will be remembered in a time where most are forgotten. It has been years since we have seen a car that has history built in. We watched dodge make super fast cars that were obscene with horsepower but hinged with a niche of persona and embarrassment. The Cadillac is not that, extreme horsepower with extreme comfort. Extreme tech, and a supercharger that takes notice through exhaust. I would never own a dodge only because I’m a grown up who needs an every day driver, this one says I’ve arrived and you can listen to me leave.

The final generation CTS-V sedan with the 640HP supercharged ZO6/ZL1 engine, IMO looked a lot better (the front especially). And the supercharger whine was awesome.

I agree completely. The last cts-v and ats-v looked alot better than these new blackwings. On top of that both have dedicated tuning businesses that can get you the most out of both cars right now. Just buy one of those, save 10-20k and use about 2k to get 50-75hp more than these ugly things.
