I used to run Thrulls back in the day! Love the old school play. It’s also about fun😊 Marsh goblins (red/black) with dwarven warriors and cave people, mindstab goes right through ❤

Love it and yes, many os players play to cast spells they remember from their childhood. Imo it sometimes gets a little too competitive. Playing beautiful cards is the main reason for me to play 93/94 🙌

blast from the past. i started playing magic when you stopped buying new cards (stronghold) but i got a bunch of ice age and fallen empires bulk cards for free from the game store. it had a bunch of thrulls and ebon hand and i thought they were so cool.

I also got a lot FE cards when I played as a kid. Always loved the art.

4 Fallen Angel 4 Drudge Skeletons 1 Lord of the Pit 1 Minion of Leshrac 4 Sengir Autocrat 2 Ebon Praetor 3 Armor Thrull 4 Basal Thrull 2 Breeding Pit 4 Bad Moon 1 Thrull Retainer 2 Terror 24 Swamp 4 Drain Life This is the deck I made some time ago with Thrulls, I called it Thrull meat because the thrulls are mainly here to be eaten, by the Preator, which is awesome, the Lord of the pit, or the fallen angel, which works very nicely with the breeding pit. Bad moon also works well with the breeding pool. And the skeletons are here to hold very aggresive deck and later to be eaten as well :D The minion of Leshrac is also a massive threat that needs food, so why not

This was such an epic battle of Black Magic. And Nether Shadow is one of the most unique creatures that keeps coming back😊 and not that it was intentional, but as someone mentioned to me once, we do live in the Nether Lands😂

Sweet, what did the deck look like? Did you go full on with the Thrull Champions? I've been thinking to maybe take out the two bad moon and play with 3 Champions instead.

I have four of them in the deck . Basal and armor thrulls are the back up as i remember .

Has anyone actually composed a Hymn to Touroch? I imagine it like Tibetan throat-singing, similar to that used in the Dune movie on the Sardaukar homeworld.

WotC should bring back they’ll tribal the next time Dominaria is revisited. Lord wise, the thrulls are nigh unstoppable. They even fought off Yawgmoth’s Phyrexian invasion by themselves.

In game 1 it seems you only paid 2 to cast the breeding pit instead of 4, as if you weren't already way ahead! Fallen Empires is a much better set than people give it credit for. (Also he stole your Blight, good strat 👍).
@TimmytheSorcerer Жыл бұрын
Yes, someone else mentioned that as well. Probably got confused because the upkeep cost is 2. 🙄

It depends on what rule set you play by. You can always find the rules information of the specific video in the description 👍

@@TimmytheSorcerer That’s so odd. Then again the whole 94 format is rather weird. As a person who was a tournament-level player of both constructed and limited formats 94-98, I almost always find that none of these decks and games resemble what we played back then…neither casual nor tournaments.
@Nethershadows Жыл бұрын
They represent what we play now, using the basic set and four horseman and in some formats fallen empire. Its pre 95, so definitely not what you where seeing between 94/98. For me all the new coming sets made me want to quit, also because the old cool cards where unobtainable for me back then. And i really am happy that i picked it back up 2/3 years ago. I never stopped brewing in my mind and on paper or mtg vault and now after three years back into the game i can make various brews that have a whole process of creation to it. Back in the day my deck just changed and evolves every week with new trades. Now i just get new staples to add into the mix. I really love the original brews, but there is also beauty in seeing the meta settle and evolve with every tournament. There is really no other game like Magic. Its like chess but with infinite moves and possibilities. Cheers🍻

@@Nethershadows Exactly. For a nostalgic format, it actually has little nostalgia at all. My point about 94/98 is not to ask why these 94/95 formats are not like 98. The reason why I bring up that range is that it is important for context. Not only did I see all of the major decks of that time, I also saw what decks got banned/restricted out of existence and what decks continued to evolve. For example, you discuss "meta". One of my main things is those decks and decklists are already established but I feel like almost none of the people playing this format actually played in 1994. I wasn't worried about this particular match since they're using a point system (I guess this is a meta for people who can't afford all of the cards, understandable). But so many of these 94 format vids pop into my YT queue and I never see anyone playing a well tuned deck. They're always these X points decks (that didn't exist in 94/95) and these super jank decks running cards considered unplayable in 1994-98 (when Type 1 was around). It's very jarring for me as as 94 player.
@Nethershadows Жыл бұрын
There is the xpoints format that give the very good cards a points value thus making more room in the decks to play around with. There is also the Swedish format, that one is very much filled with fine tuned matches. The Deck being one of the most successful ones but there are more very strong fine tunes decks. If you look at the channels videos of the main swedish rules tournaments you will see very fine tuned matches. Uthden Troll Cup, Raging Bull, Camel Trophy etc. The nostalgia is definitely real for most of us playing oldschool, and yes many joined the format who didnt play back in 94/95 thats just how much fun this oldschool magic format is. Nostalgia is different for everyone. No one had the exactly the same experience. Thats just how diverse this game is. You always get new interactions. I for one love playing oldschool magic
