As a french, I have to say that anyone thinking the Rafale is better than the F-22 is blinded by their pride. Both aircrafts have different goals. The F-22 is one of, if not the best air dominance fighter, while the Rafale aimed for a more versatile approach, being able to carry a lot more tasks than the F-22. Where the F-22 does not shine, the Rafale does, same goes for the opposite.

@@ICECAPPEDSKY the Navy usually writes out their own project since they put their emphasis on slightly different criterias - the F35 was the 1st attempt of generalizing the needs of all branches in one plane. Also the F22 is really not that big of a bully by todays standarts anymore and a good amount of planes like the Su 35, EF or Su 57 can take the F22 on in a dogfight. Due to the Stealth it still excels in BVR fights but stealth is not nearly as strong as it seems in all the DCS videos and with radar systems everywhere getting more and more sophisticated it's more of a radar range limiter than a invisibility cloak these days.
@legendary4570 Жыл бұрын
@@bluefox9436by most estimates, an S-400 missiles system radar is not able to track an F-22 until it is about 35 miles from it. If a radar array more powerful than what any fighter jet carries can’t see a raptor until it’s that close I don’t think any fighter jet would be able to track a raptor until it’s too late, even with IRST due to how the raptor reduces its heat signature and it’s engines are hidden internally.

The whole point of the F-22's existence, it's whole "raison d'etre," if you will, is to make every average pilot into an ace... Sure, it's always possible for a truly superior and experienced pilot (and that level of experience is traditionally very hard won) to exploit some weakness with some stronger point of his or her own aircraft and/or tactical position, which is why the Raptor is designed to give away as few weaknesses as possible. It's just good everywhere. In fact, better in every regime of flight and combat than just about anything else flying or contemplated. And some regimes (6G turns at 60,000ft, at Mach 1.2, anyone? Bueller..?) it has almost entirely to itself. But! There's only about 180 of the things.

Another thing to note. Is that when the f-22 is fighting outside of us airspace, or fightong mock battles against our advisories, the plane actually gets its performance nerfed.
