Durability upgrades have nothing to do with random failures. The components go to 100% instantaneously. I had to disable it after 3 races in a row in a maxed car

I watch Tom97 who is a sweat himself, from S3 he has lowered his AI to around 100 for quali sometimes even lower depending on track and only slightly higher for the races. Maxed out cars are RIDICULOUS on one lap pace for AI it's not even a competition

I have 103 AI, the track were i was faster than them was Bahrain : i got pole position and i was going to win the gp until a turbo compressor failure fucked me up. I won in China and at Imola, but the ai was tough. I had to hope that the drivers would battle each other.

After S3 or so, the AI goes crazy. I have the same issue and even saw AI drop less than 1 minute laps around Austria (Leclerc I think did a 58sec lap). I suggest lowering the AI difficulty and testing quali and race because each save has different AI evolution.

I had to reduce AI as well in career mode with the upgraded cars. I think they can extract a lot more pace out of the nearly maxed out to maxed out cars, which you as a player can't do.

i’ve used a fairly accurate AI calculator to get the right AI difficulty for myteam/career and it will always put me 86-92 depending on the track, if i switch to an old myteam i started when i first got the game and do a few races i’m nowhere close to the 86-92 AI in a maxed out car but in the newer my teams i’m able to keep up with the top of the mid field cars even though i have the third worst car on the grid by a mile, the AI are super whacky after season 3/4

i‘ve played some seasons in career mode and from what i know is the AI gets quicker and quicker the more they develop the car. I‘m having trouble competing with the AI in the best car on 103 while in GP Mode with with equal performance i was quicker than 107, even beat 110 AI somehow. I feel like Cars are starting to get more undrivable compared to the AI bc they can take corners so much differently they outpace you by a lot.

its 100% the ai being ridiculously quick, i was a 110 ai driver for S1 and now for my S3 i had to use 98 ai for silverstone and 100 for Austria, whereas i was properly competitive on 105 at Hungary

I’ve noticed a major difference in AI pace between the two games, in 2020 I used about 97-102 difficulty, now I struggle to even compete with AI on 80-90

When cars start getting maxed out the difficulty is insane, I went from fighting for wins at 100 with a midfield car to hopefully battling for points with the best car on the grid

idk why but i'm kinda having the same issue where i'm running a 100 ai and won the championship in season 2 but after that i can't get near them anymore, in season 3 they suddenly had a mega pace that i'm always 1 sec behind their pace even with max out car and honestly the car feels terrible after each upgrade, i can't get that lap time like before the upgrade, the brake sucks, balance all over the place and the car understeers in every corner even with highest downforce setting. idk if i need to retune the setting to match max cars or it's just something to do with codies, either way my team car at max is just horrendous.

Ive had the same problem as you in qualy in my Season 3 in my career mode with Alpine. Im using the same quick setups I used in S1 and S2 and I have no mods. It’s happened at every track ive run at this year. It makes the game simply unplayable. Codies needs to fix this, its shocking.

You would have to lower the difficulty even more, i had such a big issue with that in this game. When you watch them do their lap, it's usually around your qualifying time. When you skip the rest of the session, they go like 2 seconds faster its so cheese

I feel like maybe the reason you can now run 50 brake bias is because potentially the latest performance patch wasn't applied to your existing season of career but now it has. Would explain the extra understeer im slow corners your feeling

Like people have said; I could finish consistently p4-p8 in S2 when my car was in the midfield. After an R&D reset between seasons I had the fastest car and yet I could barely get out of q1 or score points despite a relative improvement. I thought I just couldn’t drive the maxed out cars but after seeing this I realize that I probably need to lower my ai by 5-7.

Ive lowered the difficulty to about 100, those cars are just crazy fast and as a pad player im physically not fast enough to get the car through some corners. It makes it boring when they qualify 3 seconds up the road and then leave you in the dust straight away. Id recommended lowering difficulty for quali and then raising by 3 to 5 points for the race

Yh the ai just gain a bunch of pace after season 2, used to be able to run 102 ai on basically every track with no problem but i now run sometimes as low as 85 on tracks like zaandvort to keep up

I'm 2 races deep into my season 3 career mode currently. Did awful in Portugal, but I suck there so it was to be expected. Then I got to Baku. My god, the understeer and instability of the car was gargantuan. I think when you max out your car, the way to gain speed is actually found by going heavy on the wings in terms of downforce. My top end was much, much better than anyone on the field, but my acceleration was actually pish I found. Basically I had no grip or acceleration even in a straight line and the only way I could overtake other cars was by making use of my top end in the DRS zones. Everywhere else was a nightmare to overtake. Also I had to turn off mechanical failures because I DNF 4 races in a row lmao.

I wonder if they could add in become your own engine company next year as a thing later on in career mode? Have it be a late game thing that other teams could sign up for and you get money based on how many sign up for it over the others that can only be spent on engines, see if you can pull up a struggling team by giving them engines for cheap that are powerful.

normally with my friends we do custom games 75 ai because this is my first f1 game I got it one month ago. I always come second or third at least 10 plus seconds ahead of the ai, one of my friends qlways come first cause they have been playing f1 for years. But when I go In my team career mode and use 75 ai ( third season) I cant keep up with the top 10. I keep I creating the gap to the ai behind me by like 10 plus seconds but the ai infront of me are so much faster. My rnd upgrades are nearly maxed. Aero rnd is maxed chassis is maxed it's just powertrain and durability that are really close to max. Should I decrease ai?

The performance gap has to be some kind of bug, perhaps an issue with upgrades carrying over from the previous season without it being reflected on the performance index. Maybe see if you can get codemasters to look at your save?

This happened to me, as the seasons went on it got ridiculous and I had to lower the ai from about 105 which I ran in season 1 to 90 in season 4 then I just gave up with my team and played driver career and it doesn’t have that issue on there I don’t think

I agree, don't remove the mechanical failures. This makes it more dramatic and prolongs the drama. I usually stop watching after you win the championship (2nd or 3rd season), but this is looking like you'll only win it in the 4th season. Also enjoyed the post race chit chat.

The AI are massively OP on Practice and Qually I normally play 90% AI for the race and turn it down to about 70% for the practice for it to have what feels like the right balance to me.

I did a restart on season 1 just driving for a current team (AM) and at the first race in Bahrain started off great and about lap 3 had some technical issue according to Jeff and went from running behind the top 7 in a DRS train to 2 laps down before it finally fixed itself with about 10 laps remaining. I almost got lapped by Mazepin at 100 difficulty. Went from about minute 16 down to 45 seconds in the last 8 laps. So annoyed

Both, they are completely random. Engines that are more worn have a higher chance of failure, but brand new engines can also fail out of no where. It also depends of the reliability of the team/engine supplier
